K750 / W800 Firmware Overview

The SEUS process takes you through the upgrade based on country, as you no doubt know. Therefore, I suspect that there are physically different upgrade files depending on which country you select.

Being the internet and all, there's really nothing stopping you from using a different country, and therefore a possibly differrent update file. I'm guessing that files are potentially different, but it would explain why some appear to have the problem and others don't.

On the other hand, over the duration of the fabrications of the K750i models, there had to be different styles/types of hardware pieces, even if the outer shell is identical. So that is obviously a potential place for differences in operation as well.

@leibniz: Exact about the country ! I changed mine before the update, to EUROPE_5. My friend haven't change anything (EMEA_6). But, we both bought our k750 from the same shop, with one day difference, in july'05.Did anyone on EMEA_6 have something to say about hissing and zooming or anything else about bugs?

@Scorpio72:
how did u change your country setting ??

I changed CDA with cruiser (at my friend's store)

ive updated my SE w800 but now it wont turn on and iv all ready removed battery a couple of times ... PLZ help me

I have unlocked Vodafon branded K750i with software version R1N035,
I was wondering can I debrand it and put SE original software with his standard in box cable or I need a some king of terminator dongle cable as for others SE with old conectors???

Posted by leibniz
@babakgh

You just start up your SEUS software on your laptop/PC and select a different country before you start the process.

I guess the only catches are you are limited to the countries with languages you can understand, and I'm not sure if anyone knows which actual firmware download file versions are hiss-less and which aren't. That's assuming they aren't just symbolically all together in the first place.

As for the choosing whichever country - I just found I had to do that anyway - since the K750i is not listed as an offical phone release for either Canada, nor the USA. And since I live in Canada, I just chose UK in the SEUS software.

he dusnt recognize my phone when i put him int the usb slot :s

@bullrot

Sounds like you have a dead phone, SEUS will not help you out now, you will eather have to go to an SE service center or use davinci to recover it
Read fist post in thread about davinci.

Did anyone on EMEA_6 (or other CID) have something to say about hissing and zooming or anything else about bugs?
Who is able to answer ? no one here ? curious ! seems like nobody have bugs on his K750 !

Posted by Scorpio72
Seems like all K750's owners have fixed their problems and bugs and now, stopped visiting this thread ?

Posted by stangenov
With the last version of firmware, my K750i work perfekt without any problems (EMEA_4)

Posted by Scorpio72
@stangenov

You means : no hissing, can zooming on panoramics, no USB incorrect param ?

Posted by stangenov
Yes i have 2 k750i phones and with the last firmware i don't have any problems, work perfekt and all is fine

Posted by faultymonkey
Can someone tell me what the latest version is, and if/when Orange will approve of the latest update.

Posted by Scorpio72
Does EMEA_4 contain French language ?
Who have EMEA_6 ? Does it work perfectly like EMEA_4 ?
I Was on EMEA_6 and changed to EUROPE_5 ! Now I wanna go back to EMEA_6 to get the clean version of R1AA008

Posted by stangenov
EMEA_4 have Eesti, English, Latviesu, Lietuviu, Magyar, Polski, Romania, Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrajna

Is this poslible to flash with other firmware (language) with standart USB cable without Davinchi program ?

Posted by Scorpio72
@stangenov

No, you can't !
You have to change CID with Davinci or Cruiser and then, go to SEUS to re-flash with that language corresponding to the new CID.

Come on everybody ! Tell us which CID version of R1AA008 doesn't have bugs or less buggy than EUROPE_5 like mine.

Thanks everybody !

Posted by leibniz
I have RIAA008. How can I tell which CID version I have? I don't see it anywhere in the system information pages...
Thanks

Anyone notice an R1AA008 anomilie? It's this: The little battery icon shows about 1 pixel less than full charge, but if I go Settings > Phone Setting > Phone Status, it shows 75% left. Not consistant between the two.

Is the icon just an approximation or is there evidence that this might be another R1A008 bug?

Anyone?

Posted by rockygali
yes others may have noticed that... and i guess its another bug from R1AA008.

youll also notice when your playing games or doing WAP sites...
the battery will drop at a certain point and turns into red.. however after finishing your games or after browsing waps... it will raise a notch high to the point that it will turn to orange or green...

i guess its a battery meter inconsistency... but not the battery itself recharging...

I'm not sure about this, but I believe this is the breakdown of the battery indicator (about 12.5% per battery icon state):

87/88-100% (full bar - green)
75-87/88%
62/63-74%
50-62% (half bar - green)
37/38-49% (orange)
25-37% (orange)
13-24% (red)
1%-12% (red, almost empty)

The worst of all about K750 R1AA008,IMO,is the flaw of displaying default Eternal theme- missing animated .gif highlight all the way around-I've posted this before:File manager-themes-Eternal-Set-scroll up to SonyEricsson-Info-Ok-scroll down-POOF! Though some tricks solve this ugly bug-why can they miss this tiny little thing?

Hi,
I have the K750i, and currently its running the R1L002 software version. I have tried to use the SEUS but i had the following message there is no update for your service provider, then as i noticed that there is a new version of SEUS i tried again, this time it just said I have the newest software on my phone.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct, as i bought my phone from amazon as a simfree handset, i thought the service provider reply i had previously was unusual and now im just confused.

Has anyone else had the same issue and if so how did you get around this problem, and is there a way i could find out if the phone is actually simfree/unbranded, there are no operator specific menus ect on my phone.

Posted by louis85
thats it im gonne get my money back, its so many bug's in this phone (k750i) never gonne buy SE again

when i get my money back im gonne buy this new Windows phone Qtek 8310

Got a replacement w800. Still with r1n035 but this time i managed to recharge my battery to 100%.
One other thing. I was on the service menu on textlabels. I saw an entry saying "charging alian battery" i wonder when this is displayed.

tried to do some testing with the two cameras and saw something weird, the 008 phone is taking much better photos in the dark, and the 035 phone is making weird line. is it a ver problem and i need to update to 008 in the second phone or it it a problem in the phone itself ? here is two pics for u to understand...
008 phone :

035 phone :

Posted by Dan_Aykroyd
Probably the firmware version...

Don't you want to update it?

Posted by KOBKOB1984
i want to but just wanted to know if its a problem with the phone itself or just the ver, so u say its the 035 ver ?

Posted by Xugaa
any news on a new firmware?

Posted by ajeffries
I'm on R1AA008 and I get the horizontal lines as shown in the N035 firmware example above. Is it more likely to be the luck of the draw with the CMOS detector?

Posted by abatt
I have the same problem with the color lines when i take PHOTO , this happen' to me after flashing with the latest firmware. This is the software problem , we've been waiting for the next FIRMWARE from SE

Posted by KOBKOB1984
u say that before the flash u didnt had that lines problem ? is it the same problem as in my case ?

Posted by tion
when are we gettin the new k750i firmware ???
any news at all ???

Posted by kabukijep
does anyone know where we can get the world clock app back into the phone? mine was deleted when i did a master reset/reset all

I'm cross posting this to the K600 thread im hoping the people their have inputs as well

Posted by chrisnewman
@ajeffries

I've always had lines on my pictures unless in VERY well lit conditions, so guess it may be luck of the draw.

Posted by Xema
Same here: horinzontal lines in dark areas of my pictures, both with R1L002 and R1AA008 firmware.

I last checked SEUS on 2nd Feb and then it was saying the R1NA005 that I've got on my W800 is the latest version. Orange r telling me there's a 008 version and that should fix MP3 player faults. I can't find it though.

Looking back through these forums there was a something008 late last year. The last thing Orange told me was that the earliest versions of the W800 (pre- September 2005) didn't have these problems. I'm wondering if they've got their knickers, and facts, in a twist???

Unfortunately after 7 years with Orange I realise they don't know their arses from their elbows and just say whatever old rubbish (including "it's down to SonyEricsson to fix it") to get you off the phone. Best of luck sorting yours out. Chances are you're on a contract, whoever you got the handset & contract from are obliged under sale of goods/defective goods supplied as part of a service regulations to sort you out a replacement/repair. Doesn't matter if it's more than 28 days or any of that crud either. Check out http://www.consumerdirect.gov[....]ds-service/mobile/fs_b01.shtml

Hi everyone,
I've read most of the forum but noone seems to have noticed a bug I found in the new R1AA008 on my K750.

The alarm clock plays only a few seconds of the tune and goes quiet but is still flashing the screen. A restart cures it, but later it randomly happens again. I almost overslept to work once... annoying...

Anyone had it?

Posted by Uncle Bob
@lawrona

Dunno the cause of this problem you have, but just a suggestion - You could run the SEUS update again.

When you run the update it will state that you have the latest version but then you have the option to either quit or to proceed and reflash the phone again.

Another thing, remove your memory stick just to play it safe. It has not happened to me but a mate of mine tells me the update corrupted his memory stick and he's lost a couple of nice eye-candy photos he took.

Let us know if this helped or not.

I recently updated my K750i firmware from R1N035 to R1AA008. I would like to confirm the static noise bug when receiving call. Never happen for R1N035. This is really frustrating when a phone cannot even perform its basic function well. Love the phone though. Hope SE fix it ASAP.

hey guys check this reply regarding the hissing in the current F/w.

Dear JP,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry, thank you for your feedback regarding the firmware we have released for your Sony Ericsson W800i. With firmware version R1AA008, we have not experienced the issues you have described. Please try updating your handset through our online update service, located on our website under the support page for the Sony Ericsson W800i. Once you have done this please reply with the results. If your handset still experiences the same sound quality issue, this may be due to the source of the sound/video clips. Try the play back of these clips on a PC that does not use background noise reduction software on playback. This will help you identify if the recordings are of poor quality. Please note sound/video clips taken outside may include a certain amount of background noise that will sound like hiss interference. This is most likely not interference but noise from air passing over the microphone (wind).
IF this advice does not help resolve these issues, please contact us on **** *** *** so one of our agents can advise you of our warranty repair service.

Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again for further help and support.

@ Uncle Bob

Are you suggesting the update might have gone wrong?? Can SEUS actually load a corrupted firmware??

My files on the memostick are fine, nothing happened to about 300MB of data on the stick during the upgrade. I'm certain the tune didn't get corrupted, as the problem occurs with any tune I use as alarm clock even if it's from the phone memory.

This happened only about 4 times in 2 months, but still...

Posted by Uncle Bob
I'm not suggesting the files became corrupted even though the possibility exists. The files could be fine on the SE server, but something could have happened on your own machine. There's about a million reasons and possibilities of what could have gone wrong. If you think about it, other people in your area also downloaded and updated their phones with the files yet they have no problems, only you, so maybe something happened while you were downloading the update files. Maybe a butterfly flapped its wings on the other side of the world and thus set off a chain reaction in the atmosphere influencing the download of your files.

Just thought its worth a try.

Regarding the memory stick; I prefer to play it safe.

Posted by faultymonkey
I've just e-mailed orange, and they say they have no idea about SE updates!

USELESS!

@Uncle Bob

Ok, I'll try one more update and see if it helps eventhough I'm not a fan of flashing my phone. I'm affraid it can get worse, since there have been numerous posts about screwed up phones after an upgrade.
Thanks for help, I'll let you know how it turned out. See ya...

Meanwhile I found another thing, in Poland (where I'm from) the shutter can't be turned off, but there's a trick to make it silent. You call some free number and then take a photo, the shutter is silent. BUT, when I do that (and only in this case) the autofocus sometimes seems to be unable to focus and makes worrying screeching sound when I keep the button pressed.

Posted by Uncle Bob
That's odd - the Poland thing. Here in the UK if you put your phone on silent mode the shutter sound is disabled so you can take silent photos.

Regarding the flashing of your phone. Dont fret too much about it as it should not damage your phone, besides if the worst happens, remember the service is provided by SE so your warantee should cover it.

Posted by Hesky
Just thought I would mention that the update service has been updated again to Version 2.2.13.7.

Dont know of any changes etc. maybe you guys can spot some.

Posted by Uncle Bob
@Hesky:

could you privide the link where you found this as I have just checked on SE and it still shows as UpdateService_Inst_2.2.11b.exe (This is from the UK)

Posted by Del
@Uncle Bob

Just run the update app and it will update itself.
