no ? how ??

Posted by masseur
go back to the page you started the update on and instead of choosing "Automatical verification mode " just choose "Recovery mode "

for that option it says...

Recovery mode - should only be used if your phone is non-operational and if you have used Sony Ericsson Update Service before.

Just a few things to add today...

1. The UK version of the SEUS is now up and running

2. I have figured out the "USB cable not found error" - this occurs when the cable is not connected to the phone - it must be connected to the phone in ordered for the cable to be 'active'

3. I know it has been said a few times, but to those that hold down the 'C' button throughout the update - there is no need - you only need to hold it until the update begins (about 15 seconds)

Posted by Cyberz
I get "USB Device not recognized"

Posted by Deano1889
Has anyone had any success with EU_3 yet?
I would try it myslef but being at work I would have to d/l all the software again which the wonderfull IT dept would'nt not be too pleased about.

You need to download the USB Drivers for the update. These dont come on the disk and a seperate file on the server

http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]3_2&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10242

And you need this one
Sony Ericsson K750/D750/W800 Update Service USB driver

After that, follow the onscreen prompts and it will work without a problem

Posted by Cyberz
I know that, its installed and it worked..
but the update crashed and after that I cant do shit .. the phone is dead..
and when i try the recovery , and it says press C and connect phone to the USB device .. the pc says it cannot be recognise..

sorry to hear that... i'd scream and run for the hills!

Found a strange matterafter updating: When transfering a file to the phone using Bluetooth, the phone used to beep once while recieving the file... now it beeps twice! Once when alerting you to accept the file, and once when alerting you the file is recieved... this is sad! That beep sound ain't fun listening to!

Mine did that previously!

hi

I have just updated my phone no problems, does anyone have a comprehensive list showing the improvements that the new fw has made? My phone hasn't frozen or shut itself down so far and I updated this morning so fingers crossed!! I wonder what the difference between version 3.8 and 4.4 on the camera is??

cheers

@beeb, this was posted earlier though I don't know where the info was sourced but it does sound like a good summary of everything I have read so far

Having issues installing the Sony Ericsson K750/D750/W800 Update Service USB driver. If i go in to control panel (WinXP) and Control Panel - System - hardware - Device Manager - USBdevices Sony Ericsson k750 - update driver - select manually and select the driver EPIUSB.INF then i get told the driver does not have information about my hardware.

Any help on this one or am i being totally thick?

FINALLY managed to fix this updating business. took me to try it on 3 different computers and it eventually worked. so, here is - for anyone else in the same predicament - how to do it.
oh and by the way I'm on orange (uk) and the phone can with eu_3 and the 1Ra-so on firmware, so it does work on the eu_3's. it now says eu_1, all the 'orange' pictures in the menu have been replaced to - what I assume are - sony ericsson standards. It might just be me but it seems faster too.

right, before you do ANYTHING, including connecting your phone to the computer, download the following two things:

the SE drivers on the support page, get there by going to sonyericsson.com, navigate to your country's site and then click the 'support tab'. enter your phone model (k750i...!!) and get directed to a page with lots of options. click on the 'drivers and scripts' link to be directed to somewhere like this (this is the UK's one)
http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]3_2&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10242

and you also NEED this [thanks due to darky]:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/d[....]_Update_Service_USB_driver.zip
- which for some reason is not in the above driver package but you need it as otherwise the phone cannot be set as a 'flash device' for you to scrub the software thats there and replace it with the new one...

right, with those two zip files extract them into an easy to find location. you many now connect your phone to your computer, have it ON too! the computer finds your phone and searches desparately for drivers, you must select the location of the ones you downloaded for it each time (happens about 5 times). then go back to the support site (again this is UK) -
http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10242
[I am informed that you can update the firmware from any international support site...its the language on the phone that you alter for your own use] - and below the links that take you to the usb drivers/scripts etc is a link for the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS). click it.
you then have a few basic things to follow, go through them and eventually you'll be asked to download a sony ericsson .exe, do this and wait as it installs.
once installed the web page proceeds automatically (well, it did for me) and you then follow a similar process as before by clicking 'i accept' when ever it occurs. finally you get the option to update the phone (at last), as you click to do so the SE .exe will kick in and take over (website remains in the back ground).
follow the instructions and with any luck it will have recognised your phone (thanks to the drivers) and that it is also a flash device. if it waits on the 'initialising device' point I found that by turning off - leaving the phone connected - holding 'c' down as it restarts (it does this automatically) causes the computer to recognise it is a flash device and will ask for a driver; direct it to the folder where you put everything and select the divers that I mentioned were not included in the USB lot.
once I had this done the 'initialising device' box disappeared and it moved on to the next step.

click yes/next and follow th on screen instructions. it asks you to disconnect and turn off, hold down 'c' and then plug in - keeping c down for a short while after its plugged back in too.
If all went well the progress bar will start to tick over and after about 3-4% has gone by you can release 'c' (at least I did to be sure). the update then takes a bit of time but once done remove your phone and turn it on.
it will ponder a bit at start up but then all will be good.

as I said I tried on 3 machines. if you install drivers from the CD prior to the ones you download it seems you run into trouble. I got to a fresh machine and used the downloads straight...if you already have drivers installed the computer never prompts you to search for any (like your newly downloaded ones) which may mean that theres a teeny bug in the drivers from the CD(?). so, if at all possible try it on a fresh machine otherwise i suspect you'll be going round in circles.

hope that helps the weary! best of luck...just wait until the next set comes out

so did mine.

Can anyone say whether the font used when typing a text message is now the smaller one (as viewed messages are or as they are on the K700)?

Just noticed when the phone is finished charging it now says fully charged

Im not getting the Found new hardware anymore, as i did a couple of times in the beginning when i tried to update. I need to get that back to put in the new drivers that been mentioned her before. The new hardware is USB Flash something, dont remember the full name..

Posted by rambalu80
@ libben

If you installed the USB driver once, it will be detected automatically by windows if you try to uninstall & reinstall. So dont worry about it.

If you continue to have problems, do the following:
Go in to devices in Control Panel/System and watch for 'Other - USB Flash' briefly appear - right click it and 'Properties' - the driver and 'Update' and point it to the new ones (if you miss it simply unplug again and repeat)

Finally updated mine with EUROPE_3. Thanks a bunch to everyone who is here helping out with all the information and ideas they have!

@anay

Well, before doing the update, my phone only beeped once while recieving a file. Now it beeps twice and I'm sure it didn't before. Maybe it only beeped once before for those of us who uses EU4 firmware. That firmware acts different for others sounds as well, like the camera and auto focus sound - they don't play when the sound is muted.

Anyway, I'm sure my phone only beeped once while recieving files using Bluetooth before... just like with a K700i...

Posted by rambalu80
My Camera sound is still on even if I switched to silent mode. I am on EUROPE_3 and it was like this before the update too. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Posted by masseur
yes, no change there for me either

Well funnily enough, I'm sure my phone beeped once before accepting the fale and after receiving the file, but now with the new firmware it only beeps BEFORE

Anyone that has done the update using only the updated USB-drivers (i.e. the last one named "Sony Ericsson K750/D750/W800 Update Service USB driver")?

Meaning, do I also have to update the USB-drivers from the webpage ("Sony Ericsson 750 USB drivers") in addition to the one mentioned above and not just use the ones supplied from the CD?

Probably somthing to do with the law in your country.

Posted by reesy
As far as freezing goes, mine did it regularly, at least 5-8 times a day.

Its now gone 18+ hours with none, and for the first time ever, through the night, so touchwood, it's fixed

Posted by rambalu80
I think the Camera sound is still on (in silent mode) for all users with the EUROPE_3 customization. I live in the USA and everyone here has K750i's with different customizations because the phone is not released in the USA. So, it could be nothing to do with the US laws, maybe something to do with the laws in Netherlands because thats where I got my K750i from!

I tried doing it earlier but i get an error message on the website

The application reported an undefined error

Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact support.

Have I done something wrong?

Do i have to have PC Suite installed?

I have installed the drivers for the phone, not the latest flash one tho as it never requested for that one. any ideas guys???

Posted by leerichards
Hmmm,

I installed the normal USB drivers, but not the flash one. At the time when it asked for the driver, I must have inadvertantly selected 'don't ask me again'. Now that I've downloaded the 'flash' driver file, I can't get it to prompt me again, any ideas?

Right, so there's apparently several 'Europe' versions drifting around...just wondering if it would be a good idea to collect all the things that occur in each version and see their differences, also from where each version may be obtained.

I was on EU_3 originally (R1A or what ever the first one is called) now i'm EU_1 (R1J).
I got it from the UK SE update site.

main menu changed, and despite software being updated you can't delete any of the original (network provider's) pictures on the phone.
I have a different sounding camera and i think its faster to saving images.
my camera is Silent when in silent mode
bluetooth still not particularly special (I suspect this may be a hardware limitation?)
[java] games load faster
media-played mp3's still seem quiet compared to the ringtone volume you can set.

...and no crashes yet

@shiato
What changed in your main menu?

I have the EU_3 and the camera sound is on even in the Meeting profile.

go to device manager and keep an eye on it whilst you unplug the phone, turn it off, hold down 'c' then plug it back in (still off), keep holding c for a bit. now, if you see something along the lines of 'Flash drive' appear quickly click on it and go through the tabs at the top to get to 'update driver', then go through the process of locating the correct driver. if it works you'll know when you head to the SE update section and get to the part where it connects to your phone through the program you downloaded...
I agree its a bit tricky but trust us, it can be done. took me a while to get it myself!

well, it went from the standard orange ones (pastel colours all a hint of orange!) to a more colourful one...the graphics when you 'roll over' the menu also change more than originally, here's what you get;
file manager had a trumpet and things coming out
not much change in media player or entertainment
camera shows it flashing
txt shows envelope with/without letter in
no change in 'orange world' or 'downloads'
contacts shows closed>open book
no change in radio or calls
organiser goes from 30 on calendar to 1
settings is a wrench as inactive and a wrench + screw driver when you scroll over.

as I said before the graphics are different, bolder colours and much more of them. content hasn't altered as far as I know.

since I got the phone the camera sound has been controllable through phone silence/or not, so it may be hardware specific (or a hidden menu option somewhere) as I've gone from EU_3 to 1 and still no change there

Finally i found the USB FLASH in device manager.. I kept my eye all the time in the Subsection USB (Universal Serial Buss connectors) BIG MISTAKE =)

it appears under the Subsection Other Devices... there it will pop up, just rightklick on it and choose update drivers. Now im gonna see if i can update the phone.

Btw, what happends if i choose the recovery mode instead of automatic? I wanna clean my phone totally.

========================
========================
And the upgrading is going strong!
finally.

Any official list on whats been changed? or is it just try and trial to see whats been changed? I hope it fixes the bluetooth.. its a pain sometimes with my 662. and ive only owned it 2 days =)

As the old ruling says, "if it aint broke dont fix it"

Its entirely up to you mate, most people have done it because there phones have had frequent freezing, mine had it but its been ok of late but i wanted to go with the newer firmware anyway

just updated mine, finally.
customization Europe_3 and went like a charm today.
Ok, baby
