Yes I have tried recovery mode a couple of times and I get the same log as GeKoX, I have Java Runtime Version 1.4.2_04 which should be the old version it have worked with my two previos updates to R1J and R1L. I also tried to update on my other computer which has a completley clean Win XP install and get the same error after 48% so something is not right hopefully they will fix it within a couple of days.

Hm.. I have updated my phone from R1J to R1L (Thought the latest was on the site, but not yet), and before I did that, I have upgraded my java to the latest one, I think. The reason is that after checking all the items on the checklist when you are on the update page (e.g phone turn on, usb cable connected, req't on your PC, ...etc), it shows nothing, and I found out that my java version is too old.
So, I downloaded the java from http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp and I am not sure if this version will cause the error with update to R1N.

I just wnt to mention that recovery mode is not meant to work, because, if your phone shut down, and if you press C while attaching it to USB, well guys, it just installs new USB drivers for your PC but never does it take you back to your old firmware.

If your phone turns to black while updating you get a free-no-queue ticket for service... and for a Nokia.
This whole thing is really crap. Stupid updating process, stupid people behind...
My only hope is they won't give me pmy phone back with the first firmware available for the k750... Many people complained that their phone was sent back to its early days after a service. In that case, you don't get anything better... It just gets worse !

-recovery mode does work (if the first time it nstalls drivers the second time it should start updating, note you should hold c pressed till you see at least 2%, if less might freeze)
-eu_2=europe_2 does and can be updated to r1n035 (with generic eu_2 cda that is, if you have generic uk cda with eu_2 fs than you out of luck for now, just to clarify that)
-updating jumping from 50-60% to 100% has been mentioned and explained before but ill do it once more (on seus only main flash is updated completely since it is the one that contains bugfixes and genuine improvements, the fs flash just gets partial update meaning only the difference between fs versions is updated explaining why updating from r1l to newest it jumps from around 53% and if you going from orriginal firmware it could be as high as 65% since theres more code written to compensate for the actuall changes in the firmwares, going from r1j to r1l jumps at about 52%)
-tip for those that check if they can update every few hours (go to C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Servicesoftware-data and delete firmwares, then go to seus and start the updating, when it starts downloading see what files are in the folder on your pc, if its r1l stop the procedure no need to do a full reflash just to find out you still on r1l, alternate has been edited since it could get evn more confusing)

@Jaax - Tried playing cp.dvx on my R1N035 K750i and it only sees it as a file (has a blue diamond icon) rather than a media player file. So no, that .dvx file doesn't play...

hi..i was flashing my k750i and at 2% i got 'error in communicating with device'... took out the battery, reinsert...and i cant switch on the phone...tried the recovery mode..and its just stuck there at 'Hold C and insert your phone, Please wait...'

Have you tried formating your memory card? try via the phone first, if not succesful then try formating via windows.

Trying to update (or at least see if there is one for me) But......
SEUS keeps saying there is no USB conection. Well there is..... As I can see it pluged in. Comp can see it in windows explorer.
I have updated before on this comp, so the update drivers and pc suit are installed.
I'm I missing something?
Edit. OK. Got it working now, just rebooted my PC and SEUS works. Well it now tells me my phone is already upto date. Not fair. I want R1N035........

i have my k750 flashed to w800i R1K001 red cid36( yes is possible to flash k750i to w800i red cid 36 with SETOOL) and then reflashed it with k750 R1N001 EU_1 EMEA_4 .
SE site flashed my R1N001 to R1N035 with no problem encountered
I have now R1N035 prgCxC 125952_EU_1_CL R 1N035
Camera SW version 4.5
Customization EMEA_4
an works just perfect, better video quality, picture indoor with less noise then R1K001 a big improvement in photo quality, mp3 louder then in R1K001 w800, in call volume is louder then R1L002 but the same like R1K001, the signal strenght seem to be improve
you mast made the upgrade , it is a big improvement
And i must reply to some users that told me that is impossible to flash BROWN to RED. IT IS POSSIBLE, setools let you chose the colour version when you made the flash.I saw it at gsm service when they flashed me R1K001 brown to R1N001 red and they flashed K750 R1L002 red to W800i R1K001 red

I noticed the camera viewfinder has reduced a little bit.......as u can see there's a little black area at top and bottom of the camera viewfinder when taking pics........same thing happen when viewing camera pics in horizontal model.........its not full screen.....

Just updated mine to R1N035
it said at first no updates available then i uninstalled update service
and deleted folder from program files then went to se homepage for the support in uk then went thru the process and updated to r1n
not noticed any differences but the camera yet btw im in the uk

U.K. Update available NOW!!
Simply go to:
C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\software-data
or wherever the Sony Ericsson update service is installed on your pc and delete the contents of this folder. next, run the update and voila!
update to R1N035 done.

That folder is empty on the PC I'm using for the update, that was one of the first things I checked. This particular PC has only just had the update software loaded etc., so has never had a previous update on it. Any other suggestions?

It's doing the update now, but when I look in the Program Files\Sony Ericsson folder, I see that the R1L files are there. Once the update has finished, I'll delete those files and try it again, as per the suggestions mentioned earlier.
The 02 users, are your phones O2 branded phones?
