i downloaded the files for update R1N035 but i have a problem
whwn i remove the phone to shot it down, pluging it again i recieve this message ERROR COMUNICATING WITH DEVICE
i have k750i flashed to w800i with R1K001, this could be the problem?
but the files were downloaded, and i dont know what to do with this error message

Go to se website, support page, K750 update service and then follow their instructions

I just did all that and installed the update software, now what. It doesn't seem to be doing anything else?!!
It keeps coming up with:
Error in communication with the device
Make sure you have removed and reinserted the battery. Then try to start the device.
If your device shows an error message or does not start at all, click Recovery Mode
If your device behaves normally, click Start over.
If the problem persists, please contact support.
Has anybody else had this problem? or heard of it?

No luck updating my unbranded K750i from Australia.
Currently have R1L002 firmware and when I go to update it says that I already have the latest firmware.

Do you know that you can see which firmware will be flashed on your k750i, but without flashing ? (should be same for all SE phones)
Look in the "software-data" directory under (default) "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service" directory
If you get files in this directory that should be old flash files
Just rename or delete the "software-data" directory and go to seus.
Start the process, and you can lok in the direcory before disconnect, shutdown, hold C/turn on
If you want to do the flash go ahead (hold C/turn ON), if you don't, just restart the comp (or kill javaw
)

Just wanted to add that i have EU_1 and EMEA 6 and could flash the phone perfectly right now. i think the CDA string determines whether SE allows u to update or not.

Just updated to R1N035, was screwing around with it to see what was new and i notised that i was able to use a sound recording as ringtone message signal and/or alarm.
when was this added? with R1N035 or has it always been like that?

Hi prabu i am from india. from bombay or mumbai:) i have the exact same software settings as u as well. EU_! and EMEA_6 as well as the rest of them. gotta say tat i love this firmware tho. as far as i can make out : improvements;
1. camera
a) much better viewfinder refresh time. noticeably lesser lag compared to previous.
b) like every1 mentioned very less noise. on par with r1a002
c) better more vibrant color reproduction compared to washed out look of r1loo2.
2. video
much better bit rate. someone posted an outdoor video with a bitrate of 186 kbps. dunno abt tat i madean indoor video (coz its night here) and it gave me 120kbps. will try tomm outside.
3.mp3 headset : increased sound vol. of media player.
radio and call vol remain same as far as i can make out subjectively.
4.reception : seems to be better than r1loo2. has not dropped below full 5 bars since i updated.
5. speakerphone volume seems to be increased but it might be subjective.

With the old firmware the screen used to light up shortly half a minute after it had gone dark. This is fixed with R1N035. A lot of people was annoyed by that, so it's good news indeed. :-)

Those who still gets R1L when updating, delete the files in folder software data under the update services folder and try updating again.

You just have a half updated phone, no matter where and how you update it.
I think this firmware sucks with some models.
Only think i can do is to wait for a fix now.
If you wanna see my phone model, just look at a post that i have made before, so you will not do this mistake too.

just talked with a lady at SE support when i called them and she told me she saw a note that the update should only be run with java runtime 1.4 NOT 1.5. which makes sense since 1.5 is the new java 5 and 1.4 is still java2.
that may be why the log said an exception was being thrown by the upgrade service, perhaps the 1.5 runtime did not like that method call and threw an exception whereas 1.4 would have been fine with it.
so i'll try uninstalling 1.5 and putting in 1.4 and try updating then. wish me luck guys!
