If I have 39 ringtones on the phone then I can see them via USB. Add 1 (tried various files) then the contents of the folder are hidden.
This works for pictures as well - maybe it is just this handset or maybe there is a bug in the FW with more than 39 files in a folder on the phones memory.

Which brand are you using?

Has anyone with an ePlus branded K750i been able to update to R1L002 via SEUS?
I have tried unsuccessfully many times, it always reflashes R1J.

So are you calling everyone who does have this problem a liar ?
Just because your phone does not have the same bug, it doesnt mean the bug does not exist. Be more open minded. Tut tut.
Posted by arnoldc
@etaab, i don't know what you're up to, but do not put words into my mouth.
i am not contesting the bug - did i ever said "it does not exist, or not true?"
Posted by 619
etaab... maybe u can ask the service center to replace the unit... insist that you got a lemon unit, and if they dont want to replace it, tell them you'll go back to nokia 5110

All - Easy now
Seems to me like I got a lemon as well since I cannot have more than 39 files in a folder and still be able to see them via USB. Also my replacement handset still crashes, has the shortcut problem, etc etc. I do believe your phones can have more than 39 files as it suggests to me that my phone has a memory timing / storage issue, which I suspect is the root cause of the K750 problems.
I think their are rogue units out there which R1L doesnt actually fix, it merely made the crashing less frequent. I'll wait and see if O2 send a replacement and see what FW it comes with. My first handset was W19 and replacement W20 hence I suspect I got a knack'd replacement as it wasnt from the "new" batch.
Cool - start demanding a replacement.

Yup. A Lemon unit.

I have had crashes with both R1A and R1L. However, the phone is far more stable running on R1L.
Most of my crashes came with using the Video DJ in R1A.
I heard the reason why SE lowered the BIT rate for the Video was due to stability issues.
I have had a few crashes with R1L. One of those was when a friend was trying to connect to my phone via BT and I was browsing the file manager.
I'm looking forward to the next release as I hope it will speed up the general performance of the phone. I have many themes on my phone and some of them make the phone run slow in the menu's.

Hi!
I have R1J002 on my phone, i'm having problems with GPSR, i'm using Telenor Mobil in Norway. Does anybody else have this problem?? Does this have anyting to do with the "O2" problem??
Posted by etaab
@ Pkll - i think it would be worth updating to R1L then if i were you. There are known GPRS issues with R1J.
@ 619 - my phone is fine, there is nothing wrong with it apart from the poor video quality thanks to SE's latest firmware. The shortcut bug exists on most handsets, and is easily fixed - no need for a replacement.

Memory stick not available today (ie phone reported no memory stick installed). Turned off then back on and all ok. Dont know when mem stick became unavailable as it had been working earlier.

Not really a bug or anything, but today my K750i said FULLY CHARGED for the first time ever !
I've never seen it do that before !

i've been reading a lot of different stuff here about whether or not there'll be another k750 fw update. Is it actually official, or are we all seeing cobwebbed stock answers from SE?
Posted by etaab

Not sure what that means but..
Its likely we'll see another update sure. SE arent very forthcoming with details of when another update might be released, or what exactly it will fix / change / (or worse) break.
Posted by Ragart
oh 'cobwebbed' just meant that it's some crusted, dusty old response they've used since our grandmother's were born and SE phones were made out of twigs and turd bonded by snot.
I hope you're right, etaab. I want to update...I heard that zooming and browsing get faster in the new FW, and it's kinda slow on the k750 as is. I want to keep my video too!!

is R2A out?
http://howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=5494488&postcount=258
the rep seemed to tell him it is. anyone know for sure? does it bring video back to a nice quality?
Posted by numb
It speaks of R2AY004, which is for K700, not K750 !!
Posted by punkserb
yea i think you're right. stupid rep.
Posted by Ragart
k700, k750, hardly any difference.

Well maybe
actually I think the problems with the K750 are memory related timing/access and this is due to the addition of a second memory (memory stick) which the K700 doesnt have. I am fairly sure that the K750 cant properly manage on board and memory stick together. Someone will tell me my hunch is wrong but I dont care.
BTW - I repeated the loss of memory stick problem. It is when the phone is undocked whilst the PC is on. The memory stick is a drive on the PC and when I undock it sometimes doesnt reattach to the phone. When it happened I used the service menu to interrogate the memory stick. It said it was "unmounted" as opposed to not installed or installed. Basically if you dock your phone at work or home then at some point when you go out/away from your desk the memory stick may not be there and, if your ringtones are on the memory stick then the phone doesnt ring when someone calls. Press the volume buttons in Standby to see phone status. (FW R1L).
There is no point of phoning SE-UK as Michael gives the same cobweb answer every time. I have told him of a problem, called back next day and described the problem again and guess what - he has never heard of it.
Does the W800 have memory stick or is the 1/2GB on board? If it is on board (with no memory stick) then I suspect the W800 will be a better bet.
Posted by n3x
Im fairly certain the w800 is pretty much the same as the k750 in most respects. The only difference i can see is that it looks slightly different and comes with nice headphones and a 512mb memory stick instead of the 64mb one. I would expect a few tweaks to the media player aswell.
Posted by mr_wizard
Yeah - according to Mobile-review, the W800 has had its Media player interface changed but essentially its the same underneath. As we have heard, people have flashed their K750's with W800 firmware so their cant be major API changes!
Posted by n3x
so does flashing a k750 with w800 firmware give u a fully functional w800 in the k750 shell? I mean does it all work as it would on the w800? I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has tried to do this.

Have you tried clicking the "USB mass storage" (right lower side of winxp beside the clock) and stopping it before disconnecting the phone from the USB-DCU-60 cable? I think this one helps, and another thing...
maybe you were loading too much programs, the phone needs to be restarted (turn off then on) once in a while, much like our PC's. I only had the "memory stick" problem once, and since I restart the phone every morning (once daily), I never had the problem again....
hope this works, it worked for me.
Posted by happycheesecake
Re: The memory stick unavailable issue.
I had the same issue with my memory stick becoming unavailable if I either restart my PC or power it down when any of my K750i's are attached via USB. Occurs with R1A, R1J and R1L firmware.
SE confirmed this is an issue and should be fixed next release.
Posted by Ragart
maybe not so much a memstick issue, but when my hpone mem nears full...say 8 MB left...a lot of processes slow down for me. My cam starts to save a lot slower, maybe 10s to do so, as opposed to 3.
Is that only natural?
Posted by simplyspike
i hope the next fw fixes the low volume on the earphone, and quicker menu navigation--like the R1J fw.

which is the firmware where lights fade out when ur ona call...i tried A,J,L nthing works..apparently it does for some ppl ...so cud someone tell me which version it is?

My K700i was able to support online audio or video streaming.
My K750i can't. I just get a message "File type not supported by phone. Download anyway ?" If I press "yes" it downloads a file called view.pxv in the "other" folder on the phone.
I heard it's something to do with PV Player or Packet Video Player.
Does anybody have the same problem ? With which firmware ? My phone's got the R1L002.
Posted by numb
Packet video and packet video player is for symbian phones, neither the K750 nor the K700 are symbian phones and do not support packet video player. Both support streaming audio and video, but it has to be streamed in a compatable format like .3gp
Posted by beeb
has anyone got the streaming settings for the k750i?
Posted by ffdiablos
Has anyone tried flashing the v800 firmware onto the k750i?
Any results?
Posted by numb
I guess you mean w800 not v800, and yes there are numerous threads about flashing w800 firmware to K750, please use the search function.

Hello, I'm a new member but used to read the forum for a long time.

One year ago(2004) I was using a K700i with the French operator Orange: they were and are still using .pvx format for Orange World and I had the problem with my K700i.
if you answer ok then a small pvx type file (238 Bytes) called 'view' is stored in the 'Other' directory...
I agree that .pvx is for Symbian but many operators uses the .pvx format and most of the users doesn't have a Symbian phone...
So I decided to study the K700i White Paper that I found in th SE Developper Forum: The K700i playey CAN read the .pvx...
After many calls to SE France they finally admitted that it was a FW problem: they told me that .pvx will be compatible with the k700i player after a FW update of my k700i.
One month later I updated the K700i FW to R2AE033 EU_1 and it works until now.
Now I have called SE yesterday(08/21/2005) for the same problem with the k750i and they gave me the same answer: they are aware of the problem and I have to wait for the next FW and MAYBE it will works...
I'm currently using R1L002.
PS: I have tried this (using .pvx with Orange World France) with many phones here in France (one of my friends is selling phones for Orange so he let me try some models), and the problem is the same for the S700i, K500i etc or even the Samsung D500...(not the D500E Edge)
I can't uderstand why Sony/Orange (at least in France) doesn't verify with their new packages that the second major feature (after the calling one) of the offer is
ok before selling it.
This is the same problem for more than one year now.
In the contract they say:
Hope it can help.

Thanx for this information.

@robvers
I cant understand why SE dont properly test their phones and why so long after the T610 that SE phones are still crashing.
Why was R1J released when GPRS was a dog?
Posted by robvers
@O2 K750
maybe there is a problem with SE when testing their phones, but they want to be the first on the market before Nokia etc...
And also in my previous post, the problem was that for Orange World to work properly the phone had to have the behaviour of a smartphone...
I think that SE must explain this to Orange...

05W27 handset replacement today - If I store more than 39 files in a folder on the internal memory (not mem stick) then once again I cannot access them via USB. What is more, I stored 88 photos on internal memory from USB when re-building all the contents from the old phone from my PC. The internal memory status reported it had 21MB in 88 files although neither the phone nor the USB could access them. I had to perform a Master Reset to get the memory back.
Maybe this is an O2 FW problem I guess - still lets hope the later handset will stop crashing...still on R1L.

i just got a problem when transferring data via bluetooth,,recieving files from other bluetooth phone nokia6680 the k750i recieved it fine but when i transfer data to the other phone it just went blingking and it says conection failed pls enter same code.then it went to the page menu again.tried to enter same code on the k750i and 6680nokia still it wount transfer, does any body having problems like this?.after that my unit.(k750i) each time coming from standby and when i press any key a flash comes to the screen before going to screen saver? could any body know how to fix this i did a master reset already and the problem still persist its annoying already...
the FW i have is still the original R1A044
Posted by b3rx
@Dukie
mybe you could take into consideration to update the firmware. i think there is some compatibility problem with the bluetooth of the nokia phones. i know that there motto is "connecting people" but basing from my experience they [nokia] dont do it too good. same as my k750i cant connect to samsung phones using IrDA. i know that its IrDA and not bluetooth but i think there is a connection, compatibility issues exsist and cant be avoided.

May be is stupid question but what is the "lemon unit" ???
[ This Message was edited by: Yannmrt on 2005-07-23 14:42 ]
Posted by quaeler
a 'lemon' is american (and maybe also british?) for an inherently defective object -- something that was manufactured with multiple and/or serious problems that makes it not economically feasible to bother fixing.
Posted by Yannmrt
Ok thanks
One more expresion in my dictionary ;o))
Posted by Phantasm4489
I wouldnt say its a common phrase in England, but i'm sure most people would understand if you said you had bought a lemon.
