IE has been giving me a lot of problems recently,I did switch over to Firefox but had the same problems with that so now i think i should give this a try, although i have never used it before.

I only use Netscape on office machines where I do my contracts and the SUN I am currently using has Netscape but its horrendously slow.

IE has never let me down yet so Ive never felt the urge to change

My first browser experience was back in about 1987 and was Mosaic while working at Digital Equipment Corporation (who were then taking over by Compaq and later Compaq were taken over by HP)

That was the very first days of Yahoo and I still remember their "roulette" to take you to a random site, although there were not many sites in those days.

The Internet is one of those very few things I never thought would take off but I was proved wrong (BIG TIME!)

I tested many browsers and IE is still my favourite for his speed but I use firefox for the auto fill function so I'm looking forward Netscape if they can combine the two

Posted by masseur
I use the Google Toolbar's autofill which seems fairly comprehensive

First impressions after 10 minutes: slow like hell !!!!!! and worse, it can't access https sites (adsense and gmail are timed out). Loading page is very fast but contacting the server takes ages ... .

Thanks masseur: didn't know it could do that

Edit: well the french version of the toolbar doesn't have that option

FireFox is still my favorite! My pc filled up with spyware and toolbars on crappy IE!

I give FireFox my full support!

same here, firefox is the the best browser ive used by far

il give netfront a go. see how it compares...

I always found Netscape to be far too bulky for my liking, after all it's only a flippin web browser yet the installation package is relatively huge (or at least it used to be)!

Still, I might give the new version a try just for the hell of it

Posted by ten18
eh? its less than 300kb? thats a bit small?
im not even going to bother with neTscaPe... (well i tried installin it on college pc's but it wont let me..)

rediscover the web guys, use firefox!

@ten18

300k?!?!? Blimey, the last one I put on a couple of years ago came in a huge instalshield package, it was something like 3Mb! God knows what it had in it

It's a download manager ...

Is firefox released for pseries

Posted by Cycovision
Nope, there isn't a UIQ version of firerfox for the P phones yet

I thaught that it was a Netscape thread

Posted by Cycovision
Maybe Netscape is so crap that nobody wants to talk about it

i often think with browsers its what you get use to or what you find easiest to manupulate to suit yourself. ive been using firefox and ie for a while now and i find myself more often than not using ie much more just cause its slightly quicker and easier to use. i know its no where near as sercue but ive a router with built in firewall and a software firewall and spyware blockers so if they get in then fair play to them.
firefox is still quite nice but i do find it a bit over hyped though tab browsing is a great bonus with it

Netscape has never been an option for me; dunno. I was going to switch to Opera, but then out came FireFox.

Question: Opera is so great on mobiles; how good is it on PC?

Posted by slattery69
i tried it while back could nt get use to it but it always scores high in comp mag tests i may try it again and see if the newest version is any good

MiniMo is a firefox browser who will be relased soon for UIQ....

isnt this netscape based on firefox?

i have been using netscape all day today and first impressions are good! it is quick, very intuative to use - and the ability to switch between either the friefox or internet explorer engines is superb. Combine this with the use of tabs in the browser and a far superior Autofill function to that of IE and i think it is lookin like a superb piece of software so far! Though early days yet and i am expecting big things from IE 7 when that comes along later this year.

i love it, i've used it since beta and the final is very much welcomed.

VERY useful is it's rendering engine which allows you to use IE or Firefox

Posted by Gigs
So is it slow or fast? lol

I've always liked netscape, hence why I use Firefox which works extremely well.

But older netscape versions had issues where the rendering engine could be slow as all hell. Then they kinda dropped off the face of the planet and that gave rise to the likes of opera and other browsers for the PC that I couldn't stand so back to IE.

May try netscape on the laptop though.

One more bad thing of Netscape: it disable XML rendering of IE !!! They are lame.

Posted by amnesia
i dont know where you get your facts from but it doesn't disable it.

It simple has a conflict that causes IE to not be able to render IE webpages.

Doesn't really matter if you are using Netscape anyway since you can render in both ways.

And those who installed Netscape wont be using more than one browser anyway.

News of May 25 and yes I use both IE and FF, I spend hours to figure out why my xml feed didn't work on IE to finally stumble on that article, I was so pissed off !
