even if we don't go to the extent of "free range" personal avatars, i don't see why the current library can't be expanded a bit to inlude things like the CAR-100, the gamepad, or
headseats, and a wider variety of colours on existing phones (e.g. all the exchangeable covers for the z-series handsets).

related avatars is a great compromise in my opinion. I'm sure there would be a good amount of people here that would love a CAR-100 as their avatar or perhaps an HBH-600. Anything that allows people a little more creativity would be accepted graciously I am sure.
Here is another idea... since there are several versions of every avatar for users that have limited amounts of posts, why don't we make some of the requested avatars (CAR-100, extra colors for Z600 or HBH-300) only available in the solid avatar for users that already have plenty of posts. This would limit the storage space each avatar takes up and would provide a little fun for more active members. No need to create 6 versions of every avatar in my opinion.

That sounds like a jolly good idea. I have always been in favour of personalised avatars and that seems a good compromise if laffen doesn't want to fully go down that road.
I am also in favour of scrapping the post count, but if we are to keep it then why not use it for something? Perhaps those members who have a certain number of posts can have access to more avatars? I think the limit would need to be set either very high or very low though, so as to avoid people just posting to get the new avatars.
What about some personalised avatars for those of us in the top twenty posters list (or top ten even
)?

the avatar is the phone symbol next to your name in posts but as you are on wap you won't be seeing that

Well i think the avatars are there to choose idividualy not just have the one of the phone u actualy have ...
i have an r520 wich i have and thats just my decision for other members they can decide what they wannt and if for exsample a guy or a gal has an t28 he can choose an k750 avatar if they wanna maybe its the phone they wish to have in future or ....

i tend to agree you should be true to your avatar, but keep in mind that if your looking at an old post, they may be claiming an old phone, but have since changed to a new phone (when u change your avatar it changes for ALL your posts, even when you didn't have that phone).
But ultimately who cares? One poster here had the K750 avatar when they only had a K700, and their reasoning was that it was a form of positive thinking. That's fair nuff for me.
