Via: Nokia
Nokia has just launched Nokia Sensor, an application that uses Bluetooth technology for spontaneous, sociable interaction.
With Nokia Sensor you can create your own personal pages called a folio - on your phone. Then you can check out the folios of other Sensor users nearby, exchange messages, and share files.
When other Sensor phones come within this circle, your phone can 'sense' them and you can see their folios and send them messages. As soon as you step out of each other's circles, you are no longer able to communicate via Sensor.

interesting!

But doesn't that mean you've got to have your bt on all the time which then leaves you open to symbian viruses??
Posted by whizkidd
I leave my bt on anyway all the time!

EXCELLENT FEATURE!
Very smart feature. I like it but still wouldnt touch a nokia.

i think i had a moment then i think i was annoyed because nokia had a good idea but then i thought its a nokia isnt it similiar to the my friends thing on the t630

Looks like a nice se app would easily use this to bluejack nokias. Those smartphones were so hard to bluelack before.

Nice ideea but still cheap, plasticky phones.

Just got my 6680 in today, I wouldnt call it cheap plastic at all..they have improved hell of alot from back in the day. If you want to talk about the feel of things I can easily put it in the same bracket as the P910 on the feel of things...

you sound like you really are suprised by your nokia is it that good
Posted by themarques
It is, like I said I have been an SE fan for years...always used retro phones eg Sony CMD Z1 and Phillips Fizz (anyone remember that)...but I only touched a Nokia once and that was absolute rubbish..
But to me the most important part had to be the fact I could read emails from Japan on it..absolute life saver..all my SE phones couldnt read my emails except the P910.
And seeing as I am stuck with 3G for a little while I cant see myself switching to an SE phone until they sort that limitation out.

ah i see

Heh sensor is just social bluejacking by the looks of things.
Wondered how long it would take for a phone company to latch onto.

not a bad idea.
i can see some flaws in this though. like when you don't want to chat with someone is it rude to block them? or if it's her friend and not the hot girl you really wanted to chat with..

Viruses won't come to your Symbian phone by themself. You have to accept them.

And Nokia wouldn't touch you either !

Hilarious.
I wouldnt touch a nokia due to the build,
besides Im not that pathetic, I dont need phones to touch me, unlike some people, now grow up.

Anyway if here is really hard to find bluetooth enabled devices, imagine how hard should be found a nokia with that!

won't it drain the battery to have BT on all the time?
also doesn't BT on all the time make the phone vulnerable, like virus + bluejacking?
Posted by jafggl
May b its a better bt tech
Posted by S4k1s
no they must use current BT tech

Nice though of Nokia.
Posted by Burgaz
Well i've installed it on my phone but i bet no one else in wales has...
It all seems a bit pointless!
Posted by wrecked_porsche
Is there an option to turn the program off ?
If so, then you won't have to leave BT on all the time now won't you?
Only when you're bored and have nothing to do, like say in a cafe then you'd switch on the program and have a chat etc...

i think most users here would agree that any idea that allows us to play with our cellphones AND increase our chances of meeting ladies is good!
