Final fantsy 12 crisis core has good as graphics

But only problem is its 1.006 gb!

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
And you're stuck with a 1GB card? Bad luck... Maybe you should pay for the game.

I'm not a huge fan of Final Fantasy. Actually no that's not true, I've never even played a FF game so I dunno whether I'd like it or not!

screw paying i'm getting a 16 gig soon

hey guys havent been on here much lately. Had 2 cut my internet so im on the trusty n82 with the 1 dollar 4 ten megs deal. So im thinking of returning to SE. Saw the c902 and realy like the w980. Wich 1 should i get? I figure i hardly use the camera on my n82 and use it mainly 4 music so leaning towards w980. Oli maby can you give the c902 justice? Wats great about it?

Posted by yea g
well I can tell you, oli speaks very highly of his c902. Personally, I think its a really great phone, but the two things that make me get the c905 over c902 are: c902's screen is small, But in saying that, the k770 screen was small and its alot better than my k610's screen. And number two is no wifi. other than that it is basically a non slide c905 (minus a few megapixels and wifi)

Yea g is right, I do speak highly of it, but I must admit that I speak highly of it for its camera mostly. But you say you don't particularly need it for the camera...

The screen is 2", but it isn't a bother when you're using it. I went from the 2.4" W910i screen to this, remember, and I don't have any troubles with it at all. I don't notice the size difference while using it. The C902 is the most solidly built phone I have ever seen or used, seriously. The build quality is amazing. The size is great too.

However, after all that is said, I'm going to have to recommend you the W980 out of the two you mentioned, for a couple of reasons:

1. The W980's sound. I personally can't stand bad sound from a music player. While my W910i and C902 are ok, they just aren't good enough for me. That is why I have a proper Sony Walkman. But I figure the W980 must be very improved because it has won a couple of awards for its sound quality, plus it has the new Clear Bass or whatever it's called.

2. The C902 comes with awful headphones. It has those really bad standard ones that come with cheaper phones and low-end Walkmans. They are the ones that have no 3.5mm adapter. Crap. The W980 however comes with some of the best headphones that Sony Ericsson make. Quite a good deal right there.

Now, style. I can't fault either of these phones from a design perspective. They both are two of the best looking phones in SE's range currently. If you've seen them in real life, you'll know it.

However, one thing that I don't think I could stand is the fact that the W980 is a clamshell phone. I'm not a fan of having any form factor other than bar phones now. My W910i's slider started to scratch the paint off after a while, and clamshell phones can get annoying to have to open all the time. Especially if you're in a situation where you shouldn't even have your phone, but you just wanna check something quickly, for example a movie theatre. The external screen can't always show you what you want, so you'd need to completely get the phone out of your pocket or wherever.

Anyways, that's my rant. Good luck with choosing a new phone mate. I'd definitely recommend the W980 though, if you can stand having a clamshell! I know some people love 'em.

Hehe... I got some W980 headphones for my C902.... just waiting for the modding software to load the W980 acoustics!

Waiting...

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
@soane28: Or you could do that ^^^

If you're into modding.

Posted by yea g
when modding db3020 or whatever it is comes out...

Posted by JiSm
I dont mind modding.

Some people prefer to keep the phone "As they (manufacturer) intended it"... others see it for what it is, as in that they split their phones into ranges and separate all the good bits. Modding allows you to create a true all-rounder. A C902 with W980 acoustics. What else is left? Bar 8mp and all that crap. It will be a super slim, 5mp Walkman giant. Plus I use an 8gb M2 so it will be perfect?!

I hate these companies making you choose either this or this for marketing purposes. Why not just make a perfect phone with everything and it will sell itself? I have to create my own frankenstein Cyber-walkman until they do. Grrr!

Oh yea, has anyone been watching the exchange rates? Not that many would be interested but the NZ dollar -> Pound wen from 2.64 to 2.9 overnight! This is not good. Prices in NZ will go up again soon because of it... But the wages wont. Petrol will the first indicator I guess...?

They've actually had the C70s for almost a month now.

Posted by yea g
really? It's on their website as latest releases

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Yeah but they'd still call the iPhone 2G new.

Posted by yea g
^^ true

Posted by yea g
hahaha I was at the vodafone shop today, They have the c902 as $900. I hope you didn't pay that much for yours oli

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I paid less than $700 for mine mate. $675 including delivery and warranty.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I finally used Vodafone's 3G coverage for something useful today. I went in to the Sony shop which is the only place that stocks this USB flash drive I wanted, cause they're new I assume. Their pricing said $75 for a 4GB and I was like 'hell no!' but I remembered seeing it cheaper on the Sony website so I looked up the site on my C902 and found out it was $50. I then showed the shop staff their own website on my phone and they gave it to me for that price! Still a bit of a premium over what I could've got any other 4GB flash drive for, but I like Sony and I like the design so I went with it.

Posted by yea g
the good thing about sony style - If the price goes down in less than 14 days after you bought the product, they will give you the difference! Another good thing - a free 1 year extra warranty!

(ok yeah I was reading the bottom of the recipt I got when buying my memory stick micro )

edit: man that memory stick looks cool But still I got my 1gb usb flash drive in the pb technologies birthday sale. It was like $5

Edit2: 16gb looks nice I like the colour scheme

Bored much?

Yeah I think the price only just dropped so not much chance of that happening again in 14 days, but the extra warranty is cool.

Posted by yea g
yes very

first time I saw one of the new sony bravia v & w series today. They look better than on the internet. I also found out the difference between the v & w is that on the w the sony logo lights up

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
And do you pay extra for a light up logo?! Hahaha. There must be more of a difference...

By the way, where's carkitter? Anyone seen him?

Posted by yea g
maybe he's doing something more useful than look at sony products in the holidays
edit: do you know where I could get one of these for a less rediculos price http://sony.co.nz/products/pr[....]puter/cd-dvd-drive/dru190s.jsp

It's not holidays for him (as far as I know) cause he's studying IT or something, and if wherever he's studying is like Canterbury Uni where I'm studying, then he's got just a little bit over a week til the end of the year! (well, before exam leave)

In fact, maybe he's busy studying... Like I should be.

I am on holidays and that's the problem - I'm away from the free Wifi at Uni which is more important to me now that I've dropped my 1GB data plan in favour of the 250MB on the iPhone40 plan. I'm back at Uni next week (and Online more often) then I'll be infrequent again over the holidays, unless I figure out a better way to operate Safari on the iPhone. I'm at Uni tonight putting together a report on The Impact of IT on Meteorology and Weather Forecasting based on my interview today with Bob McDavitt from the MetService.

@M-O
I don't want to spoil the novelty of your new purchase, but did you know that A200 phones in Mass Storage mode can do the same job? The V640i works a treat when it comes to storing .docx and .ppt files even though it can't open them.

@Soane28
Both C902 and W980 are great phones but the 8GB and Clear Sound would be enough to tempt me towards the W980. Have you seen one? They are A LOT smaller than you'd think from the pics. Impressively small in fact.
If you plan to browse on it though, I would go for a bigger screen but no matter how big the screen, you'll still need to use a zoom function. Even my new iPhone needs to zoom in on almost every page and especially when you want to enter details. In this respect it's not much ahead of an SE phone running Opera Mini 4.1. Other models to consider are the G705 and even the relatively low spec T700 which will have HSDPA, all the latest SE menu eye-candy and features for a bargain basement price. Or you could wait for the W902 and have it all...

^^ hahaha nice advice but my teacher got confused he was like "where do you put this memory card" (apparenly hp laptops have no m2 slot wtf? )

Posted by carkitter
Ahh... I meant plug the phone in to the computer using the USB cable and 4 options will appear on the phone screen. Choose Mass Storage and away you go; it does a great impersonation of a USB memory stick but it switches off the phone functions.

I put my 8GB M2 into the MSDP adapter, then into the Sony Memory Stick adapter, then into the card reader on my Compaq Laptop.

BTW, I'm thinking of upgrading the 256MB SODIMM RAM card in my middle-aged laptop to 2x 1GB SODIMM RAM cards for a total of 2GB RAM to speed it up and extend it's life a bit- hopefully until Windows 7 arrives. Anyone have any experience with this type of upgrade? If this goes well, I may even upgrade the 40GB hard drive to a Seagate 160, 250 or 320GB model. Comments?

well I have some knowledge about computers - I built mine!

Upgrading ram will give you a bit of preformance increase, but your computer operates best when your computer's processor kinda matches the ram eg:
low end core 2 duo: 1gb ram will be fine 2gb will give a bit of increase but anything over wont do heaps
high end core 2 duo: 2gb - 4gb
low end core 2 quad: 4gb - 8 gb
high end core 2 quad: 8gb - 32gb

Posted by carkitter
My trusty Compaq is running a Pentium M 1.6Ghz processor. An online assessment recommended three options.
- Adding a second 256MB RAM card for a total of 512MB.
- Adding a 1GB card for a total of 1.25GB, (kinda odd to mismatch these I thought).
- Removing the 256MB card and adding 2x 1GB cards which is my preferred option.

I would like to see this computer in use by my wife for some time yet, possibly using Vista (currently XP SP3). She would be storing 8.1Mp photos and DVD Handycam video files in original and compressed (MPEG-4) formats, browsing TradeMe and recieving emails on it. It struggles with running iTunes and opening large photo folders ATM.
More RAM will improve multitasking while at Uni; later, I'll want to upgrade the HDD for the missus. I'd rather not upgrade the processor ATM and in any event, it doesn't support dual channels.

Has anyone here used Sky Mobile with a P990i? Because it uses opera as it's default browser it seems that it can't go to the live mobile site and therefor I can't watch it :<

Posted by carkitter
VodafoneNZ and Opera browsers don't mix in any way, shape or form. I run Opera 9.52 0n my laptop and...

I dunno what to do other than the obvious - add another browser to the P990. Try the Symbian section for advice and if that fails use Google. It fixes all my Laptop issues.

Ciao for now, I may not be back online 'til Monday.

Exactly why I don't use it. I use flash drives a lot for my design for switching work to different computers and taking work to printers and also for backing up well over 1GB of design work for this year (Hence the need to update from my old 1GB flash drive to my new 4GB). So having my phone out of business to transfer files to it and things isn't really a good solution for me. Also I'd rather not be handing my phone over to printing places!

Also, my M2 in my phone is only 1GB which ain't enough!

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
And yeah, I don't know much about upgrading computers, so I couldn't give you much advice on that. But you sound well due for an upgrade!

Posted by yea g
wow thats a slow computer - I can't even stand 3.2ghz pentium 4 2gb ram computers, let alone 1.7ghz!!!

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Lol it's not even 1.7ghz! I have a 2ghz intel core 2 duo Mac and I'm finding it a bit on the slow side. I think I'll upgrade to a new MacBook Pro next year (if the new ones are out by then, which they should be).

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Looks like the P1i has been removed from Vodafone's online store. I was wondering when that would happen. It was sitting there at $900 and I doubt anyone was buying it, especially not at that price. I was kind of hoping they'd take the price down rather than remove it though - I am yet to see a P1i outside of the Sony Style shop.

Posted by soane28
thanks for your advice guys. Hmm what im concernd about is the w980 camera lens gettin scratchd as i stil wil use it. Carkitter is the front of it sturdy? Looks plasticy 2 me. I would like the w902 but hate the design! Plus the w980 is stil quite expensive. C902 is at a gud price. Decisions decisions!

Where are you looking at buying from mate?

Got it working, just had to set the preferential internet connection as VFNZ Gateway instead of VFNZ Internet. Admittedly I won't carry on with it after the first week, as it's more of a 'for show' thing, and the stuff loops pretty regularly.
