Thanks everyone for helping this thread get to the 1000 mark. Here's to another 1000 posts in Esato's best (that's right) regional thread!

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
@Amawanqa: Thanks mate! Wow I didn't know that was your post way back in the beginning! It's funny to think that back then I didn't have a clue who any of you guys were. I guess I was very much a noob. Anyway its great having you visit!

What do you do for your job in England by the way? (If you don't mind me asking!)

@Carkitter: Sorry I don't know. I don't even use Safari on my Mac.

Posted by amawanqa

Congrats, En-Zedders!

@ M-O:
Nah mate, don't mind you asking. I'm a school teacher. (...and suddenly Pink Floyd's iconic 'The Wall' album comes into my head..., LOL).

Greetings from another South African Thread Member! Congrats on the 1000posts!! And hope you'll soon be blessed with even more NZ Esato members for the next 1000!

Posted by Kryptik
Well done, guys, 1000 posts is quite an achievement!! I second the sentiments expressed by my fellow S.A.M.D. mates, Amawanqa and Gucci, may this thread go from strength to strength

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
@Amawanqa, GUCCI.011, and Kryptik: Thanks very much for visiting and for your comments! When I first saw you had posted, I thought we were being invaded!

Yeah there's not many of us who post frequently... I'd say maybe 5 or 6 of us, so hopefully we'll be welcoming a few more NZers soon!

Just realised that I had a PM from yea g telling me about this. Guess I should be added to the list as well

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Thanks everyone for the kind words.

@ibewaffle: Sure, I'll add you the list right away mate! Where abouts in NZ are you from?

Posted by yea g
argh I went over my internet bandwidth. Stupid xtra broadband, when your capped they say they slow you to dail up speeds, 6KBPS IS NOT DAILUP SPEED!!!!!!

Posted by Hobbs
6kbps.thats just plain insane.thats like an eighth of dial up speeds.very funny.

Posted by yea g
that's New Zealand for ya

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Haha, I went over my 6GB cap about 3 days ago and I'm putting up with it ok. It just sucks when you wanna watch something on Youtube or something like that. It's faster than 6kbs though! I'm pretty sure it's proper dial-up speeds.

I pretty much always go over the cap. We used to have a 3GB plan and we'd be over the cap by mid-month!

Currently residing in Browns Bay, Auckland. I see that some of the other posters here are from South Africa, is that where you're currently living or where you come from? I moved over last year from Joburg.
I went over my cap of 20 GB's so put it up to 30 and finally 35, only costs me $1 per gig so it's all good. With xnet, really good ISP.

Yes! I'm going with xnet as soon as the xtra broadband plan expires

@ibewaffle: Don't worry mate, we're just being invaded by South Africans! They're gonna take over...

Mate, I'm in Torbay just up the road.

Congrats to all who've contributed to the New Zealaners thread. Here's to the next thousand posts!

I've traded in my 1 GB data plan for the iPhone plan with data + browsing on the free wifi at Uni, but since it's holidays at the moment and I'm still coming to grips with Safari on the iPhone, I'm a little isolated ATM.

The iPhone has a few bugs which can be eradicted by the 2.1 software update but its a 238 MB download(!) which will take 5 hrs to do at Uni so I'm scratching my head over what to do about that one. I'm gonna try some rellies but 'cause you need iTunes 8 to synch with, I need to attach my laptop to their network... I can forsee ongoing problems here because update 2.2 is on the way.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
You could always send it to me!

Nah, surely someone you know will have the latest iTunes?

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Thought I'd stick a few shots I took yesterday up here. I was really surprised that so many nice cars were freely available to look at in little old Christchurch! I got to see (and hear) the F430 and the Gran Turismo running which was amazing.

Anyone know where to get a cheap brand new W880i from? I know Dick Smith did a clearance on them a while back, but their prices are back up at $500ish for some reason.

The reason I ask is that my girlfriend is very interested in it after seeing it in the Vodafone store the other day. I would let her have my W910i, but I know that if I do, I'll find it broken in half within a week. She is quite clumsy with phones and things. So yeah, looking for a W880i. Anyone know?

Posted by yea g
Try here: http://pricespy.co.nz/pno_10401.html

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Yeah I tried that yesterday in the hopes that it would come up with a cheap non-import price but it didn't. I don't think we're too keen on going through the hassle of getting an imported one if we can just go to a shop and buy one.

But I guess if we don't see one for cheap anywhere soon, we'll have to take that option anyway.

Thanks mate.

Oli, Im bringing one back with me from here in 4 weeks. I won it in a competition from SE (Along with a w890 too) and wont be needing it (I already have W610, K810, K850, C902 - and all going well an X1 in a few weeks) so your welcome to grab that cheap? If your keen I will let you know more. SE are delivering them to me next weekish. All unlocked and unbranded brand new in box. Probably look at $250ish? Let me know and I will tell you more soon.

EDIT: Am unsure about how warranty would work but will try to find out.

@JiSm: That sounds great mate. Not sure if I'll take you up on the offer just now as I have to check with my girlfriend first! But I'll definitely let you know soon if we're interested! Cheers!

hahaha telecom must read my posts cause today in the mail I got a thing saying they would increase anyone with a 6gb cap automatically to 10gb. Thats ok but still not enough for me

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Whoa really? That's awesome! Its enough for me!

Posted by yea g
oh well. Ill be saving some for wipeout hd, btw: do you know the size of the file?

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Yeah its 997MB, so a fair chunk of your monthly internet allowance. Though if it's 10GB now, you've got an extra 4 to play with. I just checked my xtra account and it still says 6GB. Any idea why it isn't 10GB? Did it say a date that it would start being 10GB?

Posted by yea g
yep it said the 6th of october and you get uncapped on the date you signed up for broadband (for me its the 5th). Anyone capped when its the 6th will automatically have their cap extended to 10gb. and also there now making it unlimeted upload aswell as download

Edit:
Heres a scan of it:

No worries, it's readable! I just checked and my area is already sorted for ADSL2+

Oh yeah and the 3G here is patchy, and we never ever get HSDPA, so I'd say that's got nothing to do with it.
