how's the new firmware? did you see any improvements??? especially on the memory...am still hesitant to upgrade mine coz of the bugs that are present on the new firmware...
Anyways keep us posted...right now I'm using the phone flip off and exploring it to the max...I haven't installed anything yet...the only apps that makes me upset is the golf that comes with it....because up to now I couldn't perfect my swing:)

Yes but the battery is also Bst-33 only. I don't know why they did not put the Bst-34. I've got the phone for 2 days already its seems to work fine with me with the help of swiss manager. I already try the wifi and its great it works in the starbucks. Guys which is better to used a high speed pro duo or the pro duo only?? The sounds is kinda low compare to my p910i but the OS is great on how it works i really love the phone but its sometimes restart when using the media player and texting.

I dont advice you to buy it. It s still unstable... am selling mine and getting back my p910 for a while until everything gets fine. Plus am not being able to use my GPRS cos my network is still 2.5G they'll update it in november and then Id be able to receive GPRS connections on my P990.

i also thought that SE to supply bst-34 is very slim - im sure many will complain to SE coz they got their device on high bucks with minimum configured hardware (standardization issue).

i see little improvement currently. i just upgraded my fw last night.
with spine6 help i manage to get a good theme and installed swiss manager. However no obvious different currently from my end. i run the swiss, I tested by opening word, cut and paste text to sms then send. After sending i check the application in the background. Word is gone.
2nd attemp same routine, after sending sms the word is in the background but the swiss is gone

Nevertheless the bugs are ok in a regular symbian phones. I can't speak of the previous Pseries however based on previous phone SX1 and N70 - these are normal when we (users) are trying the cp run the PC routines. LOL.

I understand your concern on the bugs and your stand of not getting a unit yet. From my end i was pressed to buy as my N70 was stolen and i need an upgraded smart phone with touch screen. I thought of getting the like of i-mate however the flashy SE Pseries caught my attention and seeing the product support and flashy BT stereo ... makes me want it more.
Expensive yeah. But the kid need to spend some bucks to enjoy!

if you guys want a new phone I highly recommend the tytn, I got both the p990 and tytn and stuck with the tytn and got rid of the p990, the gap in speed, issues as well as available content is huge, I know some of you might have concerns about wm5 but it's as stable as it will ever be, if you get a chance try one or check it out at a store or a friends, if you don't want a tytn and have a p910 stick with it, as currently it's better than the p990, I might make a video review of both the tytn and p990 as a comparision about the good/bad things of each as well as general usability and available software, video will give you a better idea than pictures or words can.

Good things about the phone (P990i), the looks, the screen and you have the freedom to use off flip and flip attached...
the business card scanner is wonderfull it really capture the details, but do not attempt to capture the other side of the business card that uses arabic LOL...
Still couldn't make a good swing in golf:(

w850i soon to be out. i called axiom in city centre and they said that it would be released within this week at an estimated price of 1690aed to 1800aed. Also latest R1ED firmware for the k800i is already available in service centres.

@spine6, like amnesia said they don't have that problem anymore, that was in the older version of wm, in wm5 the phone saves all open files to flash so even if phone powers off you can get them back.
@amnesia, yeah I agree I don't mind the colors that much but I wish it was vga, especially when reading pdf ebooks.
@skrue, you can find the w950 in some places on the black market, I heard it was way more stable than the p990, I should be getting one soon to try out.
although I do like the W850i form factor more.

@darky - been looking out in deira black market shops here in Dubai. no signs of the w950 nor the w850 from them.
though non-warrantied phones are dead cheap rather than those from the showroom shops. i mean i can get a z550i for only 695aed(which is 795aed in axiom) and a k610i for only 805aed(995aed axiom).

w710i sporty walkman clamshell phone released already in Jumbo Deira City Centre for 1299aed. Its quite small and nice to hold, has this rubbery feel just like the K800i.
R1ED with EROM R3A016 for the K800i is released in official service centres here. Just wanted to inform you guys and lessen WSOD's or dead K800's in the region.

update: called in axiom again today. no signs of
z610i or w950i however w850i started selling from last night for the price of 1695aed. The standard package comes with a 1GB mspd. Right now axiom in Deira City Centre has no stocks of them, probably came in 5 to 10 units of the w850i and was eventually sold out in two days(from an axiom csr agent); prolly some other branch may have them.

The season is busy as usual apart from my expectation that work will slow down a bit due to Ramadan - it's otherwise currently. Wasn't able to catch up much on my phone. Nonetheless i noticed that most are quite. It may mean one thing the phone (inspite of the few downside) is doing its job well. Im enjoying my phone but of course has room for more improvement.

handset. unless a hack thorugh the internal firmware, like with FAR manager, and what some people would do; create a theme that would hide the logo.

Was reading the other sections and have surfed the Lonely Cat Games Profi mail ver 2.6 (port. UIQ 3 is now avaialble). As it is always quite cumbersome for me to synch my outlook emails via P990i sync i wonder if Profimail would serve me better. Wat do you think guys. i will be checking it out come saturday when i report back to office with ton of emails waiting for me to be read.
i dunno if its common when synch-ing with Outlook it takes ages. i was successful lat time synch-in my 1week email which aprox includes 350+ emails. But never had the same luch todate henc am looking for alternative. What you think guys ?

Any freeware to read arabic sms? im not arab however at times it is best to have the text displayed in arabic atleast somebody can read it 4me - unlike the bunch of squares that is displayed that makes no sense at all. A background in Saudi it is always more than often messages from the operator are sent initially in native language.
seems everybody is busy in their own P990i. either happy or sorry with it...but one good thing we're still hanging on the device with optimistic thought that someday a better FW will resolve all the niggles. Waaa! we need more 3rd party applications!

Here in Dubai the most cheapest P990 i've seen is for 2100aed. That's brand new however no warranty. I got myself the cheapest warrantied(believe me, i've searched everywhere) unit which costed me 2500aed, it was a tough decision since its 400aed difference, however, we all know how delicate(or troublesome) the P990 is thus getting one with warranty.
also, saw that new nokia music phone(i think it's the 5300, the white with red housing) in a shop in Deira City Centre. didn't bother asking the price, however i believe it was new and was just recently announced so i was quite amazed that it was already selling here even though unofficially.
w950i is expected in a few weeks time; some sales rep says it might cost 2300aed but still wasn't sure.

Been a while huh.
Was in the market yesterday and yeah phone cost is going down. However i have not asked the Sonyshowroom, Etisalat and Axiom yet. guess the hesitancy is there coz i got mine in the pricey side - SAR 2, 999.
On another matter, i find it quite cumbersome when you switch to different themes. It alters current alarm, ring and message tone and volume accordingly. Is there any Profile option or any program that can handle the profile. Funny everymorning in the office i keep on lowering all the tones volume. after office the reverse routine. its very inconvenient!
I am still awaiting for Smart movie application. my Nero can convert but audio is very low. Super and Packet vid, output mp4 file not so crisp and bright. any other vid converter which outputs a lesser file size as well.

From the start of the P series,when you change the themes all the ringtone and messagealert are change. So if you change it,change also the default settings on your sounds. I hope they will released a profile to save time in customizing the phone.

will be announcing a few phones really soon since most of their awaited phones are available except the last few three(k320i,etc,etc) which obviously didn't make an impact to us fanatics.

Just got my P990i (slightly used) For SAR 1600 with a valid Axiom warranty. The guy who had it wanted Arabic support. And I didn't bother telling him how to get it
... So I'm a tad bit pleased with myself.
Anyone know how to get mms from mobily to work? I've gotten the automated setting for gprs and wap but not for mms.
Has anyone compared the 3g internet from Al Jawal and mobily? I get the feeling the mobily connection is more stable and faster.

sadly I am unable to complete it since I do not have a P990 any longer and I did not get any more feedback originally. Due to different regions and versions of the phone, the theme acted strangely in some phones, since I didn't get alot of help from 'testers', I wasn't able to update the theme.
