i leave in around a week for Dubai, and my friend who lived there said it's out. I said it was impossible, and maybe he confused it with an M600, but he's sure it's out.

@amnesia - no info yet, the last time i spoke to sales reps from mobile shops and
employees they definitely said that they still don't have them in stock. The k800i was a sudden release here in the UAE, even though they had received the k800i early june, they weren't expecting it to be released just after the m600i and w300i were released. They were sure that not a single (final unit) P990i has entered Dubai's shore, except for protos for testing and familiarity with some reps. afaik, 2 phones were released during the week, the k610i and k800i

As good as the P800 was it was a let down at the same time, many of its features were from a by gone era. I think if the P990 doesn't have at least a 3MP camera then it won't be worth it of course there are other things as well to consider besides the camera. M600 great phone but, lacking a camera.

thats the problem with SE. they release things too late.
I personally wish it had a powerfull video camera and/or a tv tuner, I mean it is VERY big, and look at the nokia N80, they were able to squeeze alot into a fairly small package.
Perhaps they're going to release the p1000 at the same time, who knows

Wishful thinking that they'd release a P1000 at the same time as the P990i. It would be great if they would but we all know how SE are. Sad when you're an SE fan and love their products. I wish they'd release a flip 3G phone as well.

k800i available now at Carrefour for 1525aed and the K610i for 955aed. I guess Carrefour is the most cheapest place to get a phone, also they've got a very good warranty/exchange service.
I got my K800i for 1595 aed from black market shops, although mine had Axiom warranty(Verified from Axiom that warranty is valid) in which i saved like more than 150aed if i went to Axiom themselves. Plus the store keeper gave me a discount for a 512mb m2 card for 150aed which was originally 180aed. so in total i got my axiom warrantied k800i plus 512mb m2 card for the price of 1745aed. Not bad eh

Not bad at all. I paid 1799 from Jumbo and got a BT headset thrown in as well. I paid B.D. 41 for a 1GB M2. Now in Bahrain they are selling the K800 for B.D.179 I get dealer discount which drops the price to B.D.171.

Highest is 1600 QR
edit: on a side note, I find it strange that the the K800 and M600 are very similar in pricing whereas in the UK the m600 is 600 QR cheaper

yeah but U.A.E is cheap as hell when it comes to electronics,
can you guys post here when the p990 is released and price as well, I'll be going there in 2 weeks hope it's out by then, as for p1000 the earliest I see it is Dec / Jan next year and I doubt they would release it then, but it will basically be a hardware upgraded p990 with less bugs

I will repeat, in order of Cheapness it is Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain.
There is no confirmed rumour of a P1000.
The P series are usually 270-300 bahraini dinar 2700-2900 Qatari Riyal etc..
It is not true that all electronics are cheaper in the middle east.
Laptop and memory cards are expensive, so are games and consoles.
Much more than the UK.

i believe that its a proto unit. im very sure that it is still not released here. i can confirm this because i went to Axiom's main showroom at Sheikh Zayed for my new DEAD k800 to be repaired and spoke to the staff about the availability of the P990i. they said it would be soon but as of the moment they don't have the fone in stock anywhere in their shop. Like i said, i'll keep you guys updated(this goes especially with th P990 handset).

just got my phone back from Axiom, they gave me a new phone, however they didn't supply it with the box. The reps told me to keep the old box inspite of the phone change. i had asked them regarding the different imei's of the box and phone but they insisted that it has been saved at their data base regarding the swap or repacement unit i got. They just signed my warranty card and wrote something about the swap.
Anyways, i spoke to another rep who knows a little bit more about the P990, he even told me that a guy in their office has a proto unit for a week and it is amazing. He told me that it would be released soon here, i kept asking him about the exact date but he always answerd before july ends.
I also happen to have a friend at an advertising company which advertised
that also said the P990 would soon be released. He said that since the M600i was released they needed a little time to let the sales of the M600 to go on, later releasing a non-smartphone unit i.e. k610i and k800i in which they would massively advertise the cybershot series. After that, the P990 would be released for another smartphone advertisement. As of the moment continous ads of the m600 and k800 is going on. Asking him regarding the exact date, he also answered before july ends.

update: nokia n93 available at axiom for 3200aed...huge phone tsktsk larger than the n90 and n73 available for 2299aed. There is an ongoing reservation for the
P990 where you have to pay 500aed for a reservation fee and as soon as the fone is available you'll surely get one since you have reserved(500aed would be deducted from the fones cost price). Many has pointed that there will only be a limited number of stocks for the P990 thus the reservation. Anyways, Axiom and Cellucom have said that the P990 would cost 2795aed to 3099aed, no specific price as of yet.

I still don't see why the whole 'limited stock' thing,
if this is a marketing gimmick sony ericsson is screwing their customers by getting first batch to pay a lot more than upcoming batches as other online retailers...etc can easily exploit this to their advantage.

I'd just ask about the Z530 and W300 but she doesn't really like the design, and anything a little more expensive but in her range is better.

These are warrantied phones prices either from jumbo or axiom. i suggest the k750 even though its old, but its features are better than the others(2mp autofocus); plus its really chep now and msdp are cheaper than the M2. that's just my opinion though. hope this helps

Hi everyone. am new here and im so keen to know release date of SE P990i. I am based in Eastern Prov. Saudi arabia. Been waiting for this device and been surfing a lot. i also considered getting one from UAE but i thought waiting for another week in saudi will not hurt. Any news when this highly anticipated SE P990i will be made available. Yeah they've just recently releas 2models of K series and M600i is also avaialle. Now this makes me think that P990i might get delayed - marketing scheme of avoiding crowding the market with too many brand launches. What do you think guys? Will i wait or get a unit in Dubai?

Haggling in Dubai. I have been a tourist to Dubai numerous times; I have haggled in some of the smaller shops, but if I was buying from Jumbo or Aptec etc... Do they haggle or offer discounts on mobiles and accessories?
