Just wandered if anyone could help, i recently updated to panda 2005 anitvirus software and i downloaded it and installed it and everything was ok, that was however until i reset and went to log in ( i'm on xp) i logged in and it just froze on my background the start bar or icons weren't there and i had 2 reset , it did same thing and 3rd time it worked, but everything is really slow, like to load up etc

does anyone know whats up with my pc

Thanks

Uninstall the Panda. Do a restart, and see if that's the culprit. If the processing speed of your PC is still sluggish, do a System Restore. Choose a date that was before your PC started acting-up, or better yet, before you even installed the Panda.

yea but i actually bought panda for £25 so if thats the problem i have wasted £25

Looks like a virus not found by panda. If you can restore, try doing an online check or the best option clean format.

If you want to be sure if it's a virus that was "missed" by Panda, try scanning your PC with another on-line scanner. Go to www.pcpitstop.com and just follow the links.

right uninstalled it and now it works fine so its obviously panda, i'm going to ring up and complain and get money back,

can anyone recommend me a good antivirus, firewall and dialer software that doesn't slow your pc down

antivir is another good one and its free just google it
for a firewall try zone alarm or sygate personal both are free and both have good user feedback

www.fastfixcomputers.co.uk

There's links on the left hand side to AVG Antivirus (Govi's already given you a link), a free firewall and Adaware to get rid of dialers etc. Adaware is the free version, it doesn't run in the background constantly monitoring. That isn't a bad thing though, run it once a week and you should be fine.

Also do a google for spybot search and destroy, and run that after adaware

microsoft anti spyware beta is actually a good peice of software... couple it with sp2 and spybot S and D... with AVG and you got a pretty good setup.....
