T68i and Tosh Portege?? - Esato archive

I am trying to connect a my T68i and Tochiba Portege Laptop (Win 98) via IR so that I can have mobile dial up access. Both devices can connect via IR and the Laptop reconises the phone as a modem and has installed the drivers. When I try dial up the phone springs to life and starts to dial my ISP number from the laptop. About 1 second later the Laptop cancels the call with ERROR 678:

Any thoughts???

a regular dial-up ISP?

if so, you need to subscribe to GSM data or CSD services from your operator.
