Go to the service menu (>*<<*<*), choose Service tests and then Flash LED. Then AT ONCE press back, and the Camera Light will remain turned on.

The light will even be turned some time after you turn off your phone (about a minute)

Am I missing something here? Pressing Right, *, Left does...........................NOTHING!

The Service menu is right,*,left,left,*,left,*

Posted by aulason
good tip, that works great...

Very nice...
No more troubles with nightly trip to the...

Using it as a flashlight will just cause the light to burn ou quicker,
wont it?

Posted by Malachi Constant
I believe that its an led light, and they cant 'burn out'. Also, is there a way to turn off the light after you have done this little trick? Or do you just have to wait for it to go out?

Posted by MikLSP
So is it just me that doesn't get this?!

@ Ahdam
LEDs have a VERY long life span (tens of thousands of hours I think) so don't worry about it

Posted by Valentiner
Wow! Great tip, thanks! Truly it's easier now to use as a flashlight (at least on the s700i). Anyone has any idea how much will the light stay on?

I've counted 2 minutes now

Posted by Yanosh94
I don-t undertand how to do

Posted by Malachi Constant
so it just goes off by itself after an unspecified amount of time? or can you somehow turn it off yourself? cause this would be kinda neat, but if you couldnt really turn it off, then its kinda useless i guess..

Posted by aulason
that's easy. just restart the test (as you did for turning it on) and wait a moment before pressing the back button instead of closing the test quickly.

This message was posted from a T610

There is. You can turn it off in camera mode, or do the same thing you've done to turn it on, except not pressing back but just giving it a moment until it starts blinking and then press back.

Posted by MikLSP
Anyone?

Posted by etaab
Who said Right * Left ?

I dont see it.

Posted by DeLa
Now this is nice. that' why there's esato.

Thanks

Posted by MikLSP
What the hell! The first post just shows >*< & has no further procedure, thats why I couldn't do it.
I just went to quote it to reply to etaab & in the quote it all appeared!!!!

Anyone else have a problem seeing all of the first post?

Posted by MikLSP
This is all I can see in the thread:
Quote:

Go to the service menu (>*<
The light will even be turned some timeafter you turn off your phone (about a minute)

But then I quote that post & it becomes this:

Whats going on
At least now I know why I didn't understand it before

Edit: and now even in my post I can't see it all. Both the above quotes appear the same but when I go to edit the second one is still all there!

Posted by MikLSP
I'm on the P9 (as always) & using HTML Light.

Its not just the symbols that are missing though, there's also a portion of text

It was just the signs, they tell the browser to show something it cant, so therefore is shows nothing.. (Shortly told..)

It shuld be readable now..!

Posted by Chazzer3
Cheers, good find, although, I don't have much use for it, cos if I need a light, I just go into cam mode and turn it on.

Still, well done.

@ Rva@
I see what you're sayin but surely if the browser was gettin confused then it would show properly when I quote or edit the post. Its only in the actual thread that it doesn't display properly

Posted by Dj Boyi
Ur browser thinks it is html coding

Posted by Rva@
Yep thats what i ment.. :-)

Posted by Johnex
Great trick man :-)

Posted by blackspot
Good find, but I think it's just too much key strokes to turn it on. It's not too practical IMO. I'll just stick with my shortcut to camera then press 5. Nevertheless, good catch!

Posted by aulason
using camera for turning the light on consumes more battery cuz the camera itself uses battery for displaying the scene on the screen. so if you want to use the light for a long time it's logical to use the mentioned trick. it's really easy, isn't it?

Posted by MikLSP
@ boyi and Rva@
Thanks, I understand now

Posted by blackspot
@aulason, you're right about the battery issue. I'm sure this trick will one day come in handy.

I won`t work on my SE S700i Can anyone help me ? When should I press the Back Button?

Posted by aulason
@stef, when you start the service test, the light will be turned on for a while and then starts to flash. you should press the back button before the flash starts. in the other words, when the test starts, press the back button instantly.
