After three dead and one severely wounded bomb-squad techs, a team in Iraq happened upon this detonator;the one time we’re glad a Nokia phone didn’t work right; yes, it says “01 Call Missed”. Whoever made that call is going to be a little surprised when he gets a call back.

I'm surprised the nokia didn't blow up to detonate the bomb. I'm also not suprised that the nokia didn't work. :-)

the recnet bomings here in the philippines, i think a month ago, had a 5110 as a detonator.. that was in Davao.. since it is an old phone and it's cheap .. they had that used.

HAHAHAHAHAH cant even wire it up to the nokia properly!!!

Why would they use a nokia if they wanted a reliable bomb???
Posted by axxxr
Because nokia's are cheap and are always relied upon to blow up without a hitch...but looks like in this case it couldn't even be relied up to do that!

Nokias are probably also used due to the cverage of their exploding batteries. What product would you get to blow things up if it had previous media "reviews" ;D

lol mate very funni

Probably the bomber was just waiting the battery to explode and ingnite the bomb.
The missed call was his, checking if the battery already exploded...

:p stupid nokia. It's like a spontaneous reaction. You never know when it will blow up in your face.

newly announced software fix for all nokias.
When the bomb detonator profile is selected, a bug found in previous software releases to cause the phone not to trigger an explosion has been fixed.
Phones should now cause detonations where previously failed.
* Note: explosion may invalidate your warranty.

A nokia hero.

Well well well.
What does that really mean, nokia phones, saves lives?
Posted by blackspot
It means Nokia phones are so advanced that they have developed complex AI systems that makes them weigh a command and decide whether to abide or not. That phone is probably still trying to decide whether to follow the command or not.

The only Nokia I had the misfortune of using - a company supplied 6210 kept switching itself off. Maybe that happened here?
Maybe Nokia are popular with bombers because no-one cares about sacrificing a Nokia - S/E are to precious to incinerate!
