The new Sony Ericsson K750 2 Megapixel camera phone delivers sharp pictures with great print quality
01 March 2005

London – The Sony Ericsson K750, announced today, is a 2 Megapixel imaging phone that captures the sharpest, clearest pictures with superb colour reproduction for printing, sharing and viewing. This phone also delivers fast, open connectivity and contains a generous memory to make it simple for users to store and share their favourite images. Such imaging excellence combined with a rich suite of business, entertainment and communication features, makes the K750 the ideal companion for a busy working and social life.

“Nowadays 65% of Sony Ericsson’s consumers are choosing phones with cameras in them, which shows that there is significant demand for phones to be used as imaging tools,” says Jan Wäreby, Corporate Executive, Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing of Sony Ericsson. “What’s more we are successfully applying Sony’s imaging expertise to the development of camera phones, a key example of this being the S700, which is receiving awards for its imaging capabilities time after time. The K750 builds on this, and given the enthusiastic response to our imaging products we have already received from the market, we fully expect it to be an outright winner.”

Following on from the success of last year’s S700, Sony Ericsson has once again built upon the colossal imaging know-how of its parent company Sony Corporation. The K750 is rich with features that are now common in stand alone digital cameras but new to mobile phones, such as Autofocus, 4x digital zoom, red eye reduction and an intuitive user interface. The camera operates horizontally for stable, well framed shots. If used with the Sony Ericsson PhoneFlash MXE-60 it is possible to take pictures in the dark from several meters away and it also helps reducing red eye.

Images can be shared with a host of other devices thanks to Memory Stick Duo, Bluetooth and Infrared. Also a USB cable comes with the phone for fast transfer of pictures, video and music to and from a PC. There’s no need to use a PC to print photos as images can be sent wirelessly to a Bluetooth printer or they can be transferred via a Memory Stick to a compatible printer or to a high street photo kiosk. In combination with the Bluetooth Media Centre MMV-200, the K750 can be used to view pictures and videos on a TV screen and easily share them with friends and family in a fun and entertaining way.

The K750 can store a sizeable picture library as memory is plentiful and expandable. Featuring an internal 32MB memory, which can hold nearly 100 full size pictures and an external memory slot which accepts Memory Stick Duo up to 2GB, enough for more than 6,000 shots. A 64MB Memory Stick Duo is supplied with the phone.

The business tools designed into the K750 make it the ideal working companion and will appeal to companies looking to provide their workforce with a fully featured mobile phones that deliver fast rates of data and image transfer.

Meanwhile, away from the office the K750 provides a great amount of fun and entertainment. Fast and smooth games play is assured with the 3D Java games engine while the integrated MP3 player and FM radio provide music and entertainment with great sound quality.

Users with a creative urge will love the K750 for its host of onboard tools for personalising the phone and mixing video, stills, sound and text. VideoDJ™ allows users to create their own animations; PhotoDJ™ is a simple photo editor for enhancing shots; PlayNow™ enables users to download fresh new music tones direct to their phone and personalised ringtones and sound effects can be created with MusicDJ.

The K750 is available in black and silver and will be on sale from Q2.

The K750 will come in the following variants:

K750i - Triple Band 900/1800/1900 MHz
K750c - Triple Band 900/1800/1900 MHz for China Mainland

oh christ.....
i think it's clear that se doesn't want to put too much effort into edge, heck the ONLY phone z500 was cancelled,
but if you ran through the specs looking for bad things then i guess you can be happy
it's an excellent gsm phone in a small package,
if you want faster data speeds with se phones then check out z800 and k600 which are imho one of the best 3g phones, bu really i think we just shouldn't espect edge from se,
i don't want to stard yet another edge vs umts war but imho almost all operators now have umts, here the coverage is now more than 80% so i personally don't see the point in edge but sure you may need it...

http://www.se-community.com/~rog/k750i/cam_samples/index.htm

FAN DEN ÄR GRYYYYYYM!!!!
This phone kicks everything else I ever have seen before,
Forget handsets for the Japanese market because now the photo quality is definitely on par with 2MP digital cams.

*HA HA*
Sorry all friends but I just want to laugh out my feelings.

*he he* Some people were faster than I.

This is a damn good phone,i hope this will soon availble in Holland i want it

This Phone and the W800 will definly kick Nokia's arse

Posted by ares
@ibinco, are you joking??' Did you see the photo of the clock??? The outdoor photos were taken in a cloudy, low light day, what do you expect??? I think this photos are on par with s700, so they´re in fact great

Posted by Krubach
Still the blurry edges appear...
Unless they change the lenses, they can always get bigger pics. But not better ones.

Posted by vegetaleb
They said it comes in black and silver colors, anyone seen the silver one?

Posted by mmsman
the photos are great for a proto
sure some fine tuning is still needed and i digital zoom is still crap but hey unless they decide to insert a real optical zoom that we have to suffer with digital, but overall awesome...

Posted by etaab
Even if they did give optical zoom, it would only be something like 3x or 6x, which does not really make much difference when you're shooting scenic images and want to zoom on objects in the distance.

Im actually suprised the pictures ive seen arent better, and of higher resolution.

It doesn't have EDGE!!! This is very, very strange for such a new phone!! It can't compete with Nokia if it doesn't support EDGE !!! ((

Posted by etaab
I suppose if you want a high data bandwith phone, you'll have to go with the K600 or Z800 then.

Im not too gutted, since we dont get EDGE in the UK ( or do we ? ).

Posted by mwarner
Very nice featureset, but the phone is rather ugly looking! Having said that it is pretty sure to be my next phone .... unless the competition can come up with something amazing!

Posted by javor
But we don't have UMTS, here in Estonia

Posted by sahran
pleaseeee tell me where is the loud speaker I can't see it..may be i'm blind .

So, it would be nice to have EDGE instead...

Posted by axxxr
I'll be very honest and say that i don't like this phone at all....features are good but looks are just as important and im sorry to say that this just doesn't live upto the hype...I'll be avoiding this one...The W800 is more to my taste.

Posted by goldenface
Excellent phone. .

What is interesting to me also is the MMV-200 which can display VIDEO on your TV from the phone via bluetooth.

How cool is that?

Posted by masseur
@axxxr, that was my dissapointing thought when making the opening posts. I looked at these and then at my V3 and even the JAM and SE still has a way to go with styling

I'll probably get this K750, not interested in the walkman version

Posted by etaab
But to me, the K750 and W800 look pretty much identical, they have the same shape, same screen, all that is different is the colour of the casing and the shape of they keypads / softkeys.

Its just a 1,8 megapixel phone. u cant expect pics like one from a new digicamera.

Posted by MarcusCatterall
Hi,

great phone, love it.
Does anyone know what version of bluetooth?

Cheers

M

Posted by masseur
we'll probably have to wait for the white paper for that detail

Posted by axxxr
Yes exactly masseur the styling on the K750 is very dissapointing not the we all grown to love and know unfortunately.....But the W800 does shout out SONY to me and thats what i like.

Posted by etaab
SE dont seem to have mentioned that anywhere, so we can only assume it'll still be v1.1.

Strange, because Nokia are moving into using v1.2 in their new models.

Posted by david1975
yeah the style will grow on you i think

Posted by k4m!k4ze
The picture quality is really bad for a 2mpx cam..... I think the s700 takes better pictures..... the pics are blurred, not upto the mark... Maybe they shoulda used a CCD sensor but that probably woulda driven the price up

Rest of the features seem to be good enuf

Posted by etaab
They are bad, but like someone already mentioned, i think its because of what the person who took those pictures was shooting.

I bet if they took some on a bright and clear day with lots of light and the correct settings the images would look superb.

The S700i does not always take very good pictures depending on the conditions. Remember, SE are marketing the K750 as their new imaging phone, so it should beat the S700i easily.

Posted by k4m!k4ze
but looking at the s700i pictures thread it can easily be seen that most (if not all) of the s700 pics taken in low light conditions are excellent !! In fact the only s700 pics which i've seen blurred are the night shots....

If SE can prove me wrong about the quality of the k750's pics, i'll be more than happy to accept my mistake

Posted by etaab
Its not your mistake, its the persons who took those pictures. He took really crap pictures !

He should have taken them in good conditions, of things like buildings, streets, cars, flowers and plants. instead he took pictures of the ground and boring things like wood bark.

I have to say though, look at this picture, where is the NOISE in this dark picture ?

Anyone got moe infos than the general specs given?
-full screen video?
-loudspeaker?
-sms tones?
-screen size?

Posted by etaab
-full screen video? probably not
-loudspeaker? of course
-sms tones? user definable
-screen size? 176x220 pizels

Posted by Grimslade
There is full-screen video. You can see it in the screen shots on se-community...

Posted by etaab
@ Grimslade

In all the official prerelease pictures SE always show everything in full screen, then when you get the phone its not actually like that.

Posted by Arne Anka
I think it was confirmed by mobile-review as well K750 has full screen video. As usual, time will tell.

K750i supports full widescreen videoreplay!
