Posted by masseur
@Rva@, you're right of course and I've already sussed out the wifi hotspots and turned on my wifi access on my aussie email provider bigpond as they let me use the hotspots and bill back to my email acount.
not sure if its gonna be much of a holiday anyway... flying Qantas business class from Frankfurt to Sydney via Singapore tomorrow night arriving in Sydney Thursday morning. Got all sorts to do On thursday such as renew my driving licence, pick up a credit card replacement from my bank, dentist appointment and lots of other stuff like that.
On Friday I fly to Townsville to spend time with my parents and see my sister and her kids new kids.
Monday back to Sydney for more stuff I have to do in central Sydney and meal out with friends up Centrepoint Tower (revolving restaurant up a tower in middle of sydney) and then fly back to Frankfurt on Tuesday!
shame they don't have internet onboard yet 'coz I sorted myself out an in flight power adaptor for my pc that plugs into the aicraft power system. oh well...
Posted by mince-inside
Do they not have phones you can use on the plane? I'm sure as a gadget man (who appears to throw nothing away
Posted by masseur
yeah they do have flight phones which cost US$5/min and you can even send and receive SMS using those but unfortunately I don't have an accoustic coupler any more : -(
Posted by Rva@
Thatīs not a holyday, thats just a buisy to-do-list carryed around the globe...
Well Have a nice one, ay least you get to see friends and family..

While you are there, i have a balance request...a jar of vegemite, it will go really well with my marmite balance. Also, a boomerang and a postcard of Shit Creek.
Posted by masseur
you can get vegemite from Tesco, thats where my wife gets it from anyway
Tesco all sell Tim Tams if anyone knows what they are!
Posted by methylated_spirit
Tim Tams? Expound, dear chap, expound! Sounds most curious.

tim tams - without doubt the best chocolate biscuits in the world. Two chocolate biscuits, chocolate cream in the middle and all dipped in chocolate.
unfortunately i couldn't link to the manufacturer webiste (arnott's), but i did find this site where they can be ordered internationally, as well as a whole raft of other aussie food.
really good to drink tea, coffee or hot chocolate with if you bite both ends off and use the biscuit as a straw.
Posted by Davo_169
dont mention tim tams, im hungry
thank god you cAn get vegemite around the world othewise i would die
Posted by masseur
Arnotts Tim Tam page
English folk (ok, poms) reckon their Pengiun biscuit is better but IMHO it just doesn't have the same class
Tim Tam vs Penguin at NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown.com where you can also read about the Official UK Tim Tam Launch at the Australian High Commission (half way down the page)
you can also learn a little more about Time Tams at rathergood.com

@mass: enjoy your trip home mate
Posted by Davo_169
havin some bacardis in the louge about now are you mass??
Posted by masseur
no mate. its 8am now and I have a full days work to do before the flight just before midnight tonight but there will certainly be bacardis involved somewhere there!
Posted by blackspot
I'd suggest the Bacardi 8yo
Posted by Davo_169
tim tams must seem like a strange name to those that havent heard of them aye
Posted by masseur
well, no need for me to get tim tams since I can get them in UK but I do have a list for stuff like minties, mint patties, cottees choclate topping and for me... grandfather port $100/bottle last time I was home
anyway, I'm in the lounge with that bacardi with about an hour until I head to the gate to board the plane
they're not doing 1st class today so I am one of the lucky 14 to get bumped up to the 1st class seats in the nose. I had the same last time and its great because you get a full panorama view of the take off and landing as you can see out both sides at the same time
watch out Sydney (and Townsville)... here I come!
Posted by methylated_spirit
I am going to do a taste-off between the two chocolatey snackes...Townsville... Town means small-ish built-up area, and ville means small-ish towney place...So does Townsville mean small built-up quiet neighbourhoody g'day area?

Posted by masseur
I thought I always brought a little ray of sunshine to Esato
oh well. it was 20 degrees when I landed at 06.20 this morning and what a fantastic sight it was to see Sydney again as we came in from the North passing the city, harbour bridge and opera house
now in a coffee shop on wifi having done most of my required stuff and now just checking in here and watching the world go by
its nice to be home!
Posted by Davo_169

hope you have a grand time

Hey masseur, mist your departure, well I was at school ... anyway, you don't forget my "special" request
Thank you and have fun
Posted by masseur
@davo, Telstra have a locations directory on their hotspot page but if I don't know where there is one I use my i-mate Jam with a wifi SD card to see if there is a wifi network available where I currently am and if so then I get my laptop out
@Jim, not forgotten
I'm at Sydney airport again right now just about to board a Qantas flight up to Townsville for the weekend. big family BBQ tomorrow!
Posted by methylated_spirit
Feeling a twang of longing, of home sickness yet? I cant imagine moving away from my home land, away from my family, friends, and all things familiar. How long have you been away?
Posted by Miss UK
Masseur har har :-D Meths! Well I left Scottyland pretty glad aswell that old village where im orig from has died I exspect

@masseur: hey man.. Ya know.. if you would fly with SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) then you get Internett on board at all long nonstop flights worldwide.. Maybee a tought to change air company????????
Posted by masseur
really? I thought only Lufthansa was trialling on board internet access at the moment. hmm. SAS is also one world so I still get my points.
definitly worth considering next time!

Thanks masseur
