What seems to be the first pictures of the Xbox 360 have emerged Or have they? It seems like yet another, however, well done, Photoshop job.

i like the design ! even if itīs a fake one! maby a littel to big but real cool looking

you just wanna go up to it and kick it

Haha, If it is a photoshop job, its a job well done. In fact, I'd love my XBOX 360 to look like the "oracle"! Oh and its technical name is 343 GUilty SPark

has to be a 3D model, but a well done one. It could never be a gaming console for many reasons:
1. the CD loading mechanism is way too complex
2. there is no power or reset button
3. there are no controller ports
4. the circuit board on the top and side are identical, but rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise
I could go on...
Posted by nickorooster
I guess, but remember:
1. All designs are made using 3D rendering programs before being built
2. Xbox 360 comes with wireless controllers standard (so thats why there aren't ports)
3. Why would they model exactly the board that they are going to put in? What a waste of time for the designers! A rough size estimate would be good enough.
Nick
Edit: Loading mechanism complex? Just look at the designer range of CD players! Its the same thing, if not more complex!
Why can't the power or reset button be at the back? It worked for PS2...

Altough its nice it kinduv loses the box part of its name so this would be an xball
Posted by nickorooster
Nah, its still kindof a box, but more of an aesthetically pleasing box.

why couldnt it power on when you put the game in? or even have the power button on the wireless controlers, same with the reset button, right?
Posted by nickorooster
Yeah maybe, but I think we're getting kinda hopeful. I'd love to have that shape, but I don't really think its gunna happen.

noone mentioned this... but its kind of bulky... it would be hard to store really... and when they ship them to stores, they will want as many to fit as possible... and they could fit way more flat consoles, or smaller ones like this when they ship them. They usually think about all this when they design something like an xbox.

Obviously i can't see the pics, but is it totally spherical? If so there's no way it'll be real. I can see them doing half or less a sphere though, like the imac base.

hey cool... i like it...
Posted by nickorooster
Yes, we all like it. And to be honest, I don't see how fitting it on the shelf would be a problem. But meh. Maybe if it was a Tad smaller, like the Game-Cube's size, but with much cooler styling.
Oh and to give Wap users an idea, its really just a copy of what 343 Guilty Spark looked like in the Halo, except in the black and green colours of Xbox, and its "Eye" pops out to reveal the place where the disc is inserted, just like on some of those special designer CD players.

i just wouldnt have a place to fit it. my PS2 is in a pull-out thing under my TV (my TV is not resting on it! lol) its liek one of those keyboard pull out things in many desks. and i couldnt use that with this xbox
Posted by nickorooster
No, but you could hang it from the ceiling (wireless controllers remember!) from it's power and TV cable chords, and have it as if it was a "mobile" model of 343 Guilty spark! I know I would! And I'd paint it like 343 too!
Meh.

put it on top of the tv
Posted by nickorooster
Yes. There's that. But I still like my idea better

hahah i like ur idea @nick

Good to see microsoft getting into the space heater business.. My god that thing is HUGE.
To be honest it'd be better being scooped out and being turned into a plasma ball..
Its novel, and kinda nice but to be honest I wouldn't have anywhere to house it unless I started a second cojmputer room
Posted by nickorooster
Huge? Comepare it to the previous xbox, and its smaller, or roughly the same in volume. Just have a look at the size of the CD compared to the unit!
But meh, it would be difficult to house for most. So adopt the "Ceiling" idea!
Nick

Yes Nick, HUGE.
Lets for a moment say that the CD in the picture is full size, then from the looks of that it has EASILY about another half the width of a CD either side of the drive. All in all you could put 4 cd's like such: 88 and that would be the size of the unit. So again. HUGE.
Now granted its a fake and a photoshop so currently the size is great ;D
Posted by nickorooster
Right well, I guess you have a point there. But then again, its not as if you are going to be taking the console everywhere you go is it? But meh, you have a point, if it doesn't fit under your TV its a tad too big
But yes, its probably a 3DsMax and photoshop job, in which case I am upset...

Just seen it, looks nice and all. But it's just not practical, that'll never be production model. It's not a fake pic though, it's a copyrighted image, Obviously a concept one.
Posted by gelfen
according to gizmodo it's a mockup

further info on the pic - according to http://www.cnet.com it is a fan drawing

you could have gone to the link at the bottom of the image.
cgtalk.com
it's a graphic design site where people post their ideas.

Yeah. Man, that would have been an awesome design! Kudos to the norweigian guy!

just wanted to find another source since there seemed to be a growing misconception that the image was genuine.
