Hello all
I have a T39m which I am trying to connect to my desktop pc via a datacable. My PC is running WinXP Pro and Office XP.
All I am trying to do is synchronise between the two.
I've been batting backwards and forwards between the supposed support people at Ericsson for a while now and have now threatened to sue them under Trading Standards and Advertising Standards legislation. So what do they do? Apologise? Offer an alternative? Nope they sent me here!!
Anyone got any input on how I can synchronise?
Sorry to rant but these guys are really beginning to annoy me.

Well welcome to Esato. Sorry I can't answer your problem as I don't use XP but I'm sure someone will be able to! There's plenty of advice to be found here so you're in good hands!
SE sending people here as an unofficial help desk is novel! Laffen you should put that in your poll of how people forund Esato!
Sent here by SE!
Ed

Did you try downloading the WinXP drivers/sync software???? Go to the support links on the SE site for the T39... I had no problems with my R520 WinXP Pro/Office XP with the data cable... T39 has same synce SW.
My T68 has no problems either... just had to download latest XP sync software.

Hi and welcome, I have the t39m, Win XP pro and Office XP and I had the same problem but I found the solution here on this forum; download package 4 from sonyericsson, it includes :
- Phone Book and Text Message Manager (PBTM)
- Text Message Manager for Outlook
- Phone Settings
- Mobile Modem Settings
- Mobile Phone Monitor
- XTND Connect PC
Hope this will help but unistall your previous installation

How did you get that link to the R4A Suite? I have just been to the site and I still get R3A?

Go to software section, arnoldc has all the links. R4A is a 25mb file, just look for it. U can also use FLOATS sw for sending sms, use search

Hi. I'm using T68, Notebook, USB Bluetooth Links, Infrared Links and Win XP
Before you sync your WinXP with Outlooks or any other programmes, the first step you do is to install "Mobile Phone Monitor " and run a Picture sending Programme Call "MyPicture2RE" (Both programmes can be downloaded from Sonyericsson)
After running the "MyPicture2RE" and send a picture to your T39, Goto Window Control Panel-Phone Monitor Option, you will find that your Mobile Phone is registered with your winXP. Done. You can now sync with any programme.
Hope this will help

"I threatened to sue Ericsson so they sent me here!"
sounds like they punked you off mate....what happened to sueing them?
Posted by Deltayoda
They sent you here? Haha!
You must be joking?

I say you sue them still! But stay with esato. This is not part of their customer support channels, and the support you get here is part of goodwill from laffen and other esato members.

I assume R4A Software is for all phones?

Hi.
I'm currently using Windows XP and Infrared (and Bluetooth Syncronization).
As I am using Lotus Notes PIM I needed to purchase a full release of XTND Connect and I haven't had any difficulties syncing between my phone and Lotus Notes.

Thanks for all your advice so far.
I've now downloaded the files recommended.
My pc still doesn't want to recognise the phone when it is attached. In fact I've noticed that the graphics tablet attached to the other serial port stops working when I try to connect the phone as well!
So I guess I have to buy a new cable now in the hope that the old one is faulty.
Any suggestions of appropriate data cables for a T39M?
Again, thanks for your input - I've now had more help here than I have received in nearly a month of e-mails from Ericsson. Oh and yes I do intend to pursue my claim against them.

stephenn... R4A is for all... complete package.

Manic,
i think your problem is not about the cable nor the phone. It seems to me that you have a port conflic.
If i were you, i will try troubleshoot by removing the tablet along with its driver, then connect the phone to that port and configure MPM to use that port. If this works, you'll know where is the problem and work it out from there.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks everybody for your help.
The problem wasn't the port settings float - simply the cable. I've now replaced the cable with a new one, downloaded all the bits and pieces you guys have advised me to and voila!
Things appear to be working properly now although I haven't had time to experiment with the phone extensively yet.
Just to make you laugh I just received another e-mail from Ericsson telling me it won't work!
Posted by Deltayoda
Oh? So you're not going to sue Sony Ericsson?
Would have loved hearing about it in the news
Posted by Manic
Unfortunately it won't be possible now because I have managed to achieve what I set out to do. Albeit it with "your" help and not Ericsson's (whose tech support is appalling)
I'll send off a letter telling them what I think but lets be honest their attitude is hardly one of giving a damn is it?
Again, thanks to everybody who helped me out here.
