Huh? Going where? What? I don't have my glasses on. I'm something like -7 in both eyes.

Condolences to our Egyptian friends (4 Turks died...)
We will continue to go Egypt. There is no registry-cancellattion to Egypt. God damn terrorists show our religion to the world badly.

It s clear for Islam;

"On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people"
(Quran 5:32)

regards.

Thanks Clearday.

Now mahora, do you really think a world heading for MS dominance in every device possible is the best? MS still insist that blue be the default for every OS ,yuck. Competition is always better than monopoly. And now were stuck with MS stupid naming scemes. Now really MS couldn't think of anything better than vista. XP was a nice name and now we get something, um, silly? Weak? Well at least sound terrible.

@ clearday
Thanks Clearday for your sympathy. We - all humanity not just Egyptians- will prevail over this plague.
& @ mustafabay
My point is simple. Imagine a sumo wrestler fighting against our olympic gold medalist Karam Gaber. What would the outcome be? Obvious of course.
Competition is good of course, yet competition for MS had a lot of time to show their strenghth. And they didn't. MS didn't come out of nowhere you know. It had so long a time to prove it was the best, and the result was the dominanace that you're complaining abou. Don't blame the best for being the best, instead ask his opponents why did't they give him hell before he proved it. At least not well enough. And the outcome? MS dominates the world to the point of saturation (90% market share), and now MS is turning to the mobile business.
You know what else adds to the power of MS? It's lead by one of the very few individual visionaries left in this world. Do you know that when Gates founded MS he was almost your age? and that he dropped out of college to do it?
MS has been on top for a long time now, and it has managed to stay on top, which is by far harder, for even a much longer time. And this is not likely to change soon, in the near future, or in the distant future.
Dominance in itself is bad, yet in MS's case it's not that bad

And you don't even have to worry monopoly that much, coz there are those who are working on it, and even ripped MS apart a couple of years ago on monopoly law suits.
But still you're right about those stupid names of renewed MS versions of products. Take Hotmail LongHorn for example. Why did they have to choose a native American name? Are they turning nationalistic all of a sudden? or do they want to develop their own tradition, like the USAF, where they have this tradidion of naming evey new military chopper after a red indian tribe?
Well may be a slump will do both MS and the competition some good

Posted by mustafabay
I see why Windows is prefered by PC users, I'd love to use Linux but I'll live with Windows. I'd also like to try Apple, when I have the money. MS is now dominating the PDA market and for obvious reasons. Will MS get a big share in mobile, well obviousely its going to try. But currently UIQ and Palm are the best for touchscreen based devices and S60 for non touchscreens, the reason is that they aren't resource and power hogs like windows. Windows won the PDA war through multimedia but current smartphones can stand up to Windows and actually out preform it. If UIQ3 has arabic it might even replace s60 and be the symbian wourld's weapon fighting off the MS deamon,at least to us arabs, but that's a little bit too far ahead. And SE is not the only supporter of UIQ, don't forget.

Nothing happening, I wonder why?

Posted by mahora
Sluggish summer

Posted by mustafabay
Raya has opened in manial. Maybe i should drop in and see if they have any K750 :-p

Posted by mahora
And you give them one good

Posted by mustafabay
Now is raya going to sell Samsungs in their shops? They just bought Sama, Samsung's dealer.

Posted by mahora
Seems everybody is working on getting bigger and fatter, dominance all around us buddy

Posted by mustafabay
Fatter isn't a correct term. Nobody likes getting fatter. Do you know if etisalat is a dealer of se, like in Dubai. If so i wonder how long it will take for them to start selling them in egypt.

Posted by mahora
Companies do like to get "fatter", we were talking about companies not people. Ever heard of the term "fat cats"? it originated in the U.S. in the 20s, and now it applies to both people and companies.
Are you on a diet or something

[ This Message was edited by: mahora on 2005-08-08 23:15 ]

Posted by mustafabay
Diet? No, but i should be. I think I've made up my mind. I'll pass on smartphones and in for a pda. Just need to see if i have the money.

Posted by mahora
And yet another scoop that until now is strong rumor about a company that really wants to get "Fatter". Cisco is said to have offered to buy NOKIA, repeat NOKIA. THat's one large bite

Posted by mustafabay
Scoop? Its only a rumor.

Posted by mahora
CORRECTION: Cisco is not acquiring all of Nokia, just Nokia’s division engaged in wireless networks equipment sphere, but still that's not a small portion of the bigger Nokia.
Don't you know that most real news start as rumors and news leaks first? especially when they deny it, then it means most probably it's gonna happen pal
I'll remind you when this one does

Please note that at the end of the year Egypt is going to be very instrumental in the security of Israel. The 2 countries have been friends since GAMAL ABDUL NASSER was in power. Long live egypt our best friend.

Posted by mustafabay
Well still not a scoop. I first say it in the rumor section on M-R. Didn't think much of it. One more reason not to buy blockia, its owned by americans. Any idea what eskay is talking about?

Posted by mahora
Beware kido, esky's trying to imply some pretty ugly stuff here, so esky, with all due respect, FU** OFF, OK, AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS THAT WE'RE NOT HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS WITH THEM, IN ARABIC: 3ASHAM IBLIS FEL GANA, OR IF YOU DON'T KNOW ARABIC, WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER, OR PIGS GROW WINGS, UNDERSTOOD?

Hey i was just wondering!! Is it coverage inside the pyramids?

Posted by mahora
That's a truly nice question Bjerkebanen
And luckily you fel into the hands of the right man
Now let's see if we can find a "quick" answer to your question in light of the following facts: (Taking the gr8 pyramid as our example)
1-The pyramid is composed of 2,300,000 stones
2- Each stone weighs an average of 2.5 tons
3- There are 3 known places inside the great pyramid:
a- an underground dummy burial chamber
b- the so-called "queen's chamber" almost situated one third of the
pyramids height
c- the offical royal burial chamber, situated at almost 2 thirds of the
pyramids height from ground level. You reach this room by a grand
gallery that goes right through the heart of the pyramid, so
practically speaking, you're surround by the 2,300,000 stones from
all sides. One interesting element about this room is
that its roof is composed of one block of stone, 50 tons in weight,
most probably to prevent cell phone radiation from corrupting the
king's mummy
So based on the above mentioned facts my dear Bjerkebanen, you judge for yourself if there can ever be cell phone coverage inside the pyramid. I guess if the pharaoh knew of the luxuries that you would be thinking about while inside his tomb thousands of years later, he would've asked his greatest magician to cast a spell on you.
And remember the famous curse from the tomb of Tut Ankh Amoun that killed 23 people in a couple of years (almost all who participated in the tomb's opening):
"Death hovers with its swift wings upon he who disturbs the sleep of the pharaoh"
So my dear Bjerkebanen you'd better BEWARE WHAT YOU WISH FOR

@has33 wailaikum assalam. I'm kind of short memoried with people unless I see them alot, so how do I know you
A used P910 is a nice idea thankyou but I don't think I could afford a used P800 right now. I am however trying to see if I can get a Palm Zire 31 for hopefully less than $150, if I can get the money.

@Bjerkebannen
I think they could install signal boosters inside if you bug them enough. The pharoh hasn't been around for a while and I don't think he'd mind. Have you been inside the pyramid before? I suggest you do first, then complain about the tour because you missed 10 important calls I've heard the tour is now a lot better than it used to be, my mom went in back when the passageway up to the king's chamber wasn't lighted.

And don't mind what mahora says, he's just trying to give you a few goosebumps, I'm sure whichever king's pyramid you visit you'll be welcome, the kings got tired of sleeping inside and have found better accomodations elswhere.

Posted by mahora
@mustafabay
I think you should have more respect for your ancestors and their welfare. Now I know what spell his majesty's greatest magician would have cast on you, the little old but still good Human-monkey trick

[ This Message was edited by: mahora on 2005-08-14 06:35 ]

Posted by mustafabay
Yeah I should be more respectful of gramps, which means I shouldn't make so much noise just because he left the tomb to take a piss and ended up in a museum. I doubt a mobile signal booster would bother him much.

Posted by mahora
People should value such intense moments as being inside the Great Pyramid more than this. Who can go through such a moment and care to look for a cell in his pocket. It's simply not appropriate.
Imangine being inside Buckingham palace and while shaking hands with the queen, you stop to answer you cell. How shameful.
The queen will then have every right to simply shout: " OFF WITH HIS HEAD", and you'll certainly deserve it

[ This Message was edited by: mahora on 2005-08-14 09:40 ]

Posted by mustafabay
Yeah Yeah. But then I might want to call someone half the way around the world to describe my experience. Oh and they probably will have you switch off your phone before you meet the queen.
This descussion is really useless isn't it? Can't find anything else to do

Posted by mahora
It's good to have some dicipline reminded of from time to time
And you should probably learn to appreciate such monents not talk them away
You should have more appreciation of what the whole world envies you for, no wonder we have a jewish "friend" who's prime minister once claimed that his ancestors are the builders of the pyramids.

Posted by mustafabay
This probably one of the most aimless posts of mine ever.
I changed my avatar. I'm a W600 now. Actually can't wait to get one. I do think money is going to be my main problem but it shouldn't be more expensive than the CX75.

Yay. Al-ahly is the first team into the quarter finals of the champions league. And they've guaranteed first place in the groop too.

Welcome everyone

I'm from Egypt, got my K750i from SE service center in Mohandeseen in August, for LE 2690. it came with the latest firmware (Y) I also like how it can be updated @ home.

I'm happy to find such thread, you rock guys.

Thanks

Posted by mustafabay
Yay another Egyptian shows up to keep me company
Welcome tantawi

Ok, I don't have a K750 but the updating shouldn't be too hard.
Things you need:
1- Sony Ericsson K750i
2- USB Cable provided in the box
3- A PC, probably wants one with Windows XP SP2.

Go to sonyericsson.com browse to your region which is north africa. Then you go to Fun and Downloads. You probably have to sign up but then that's free. You should find something about phone update, and it'll walk you through it once you get the phone model right. I think a broadband internet connection is required. I hope this helps a little.
