I have a Sharp GX25 on Vodafone UK at the moment, i have noticed that Orange have free wap at the moment til April. I would like to unlock my GX25 from Vodafone to Orange, but would the free wap still apply?? And if so, could anyone give me any unlock codes for free or link where to get them? I also want to move to Orange again as i have heard that you can purchase texts in bulk for an upcoming month! I hope someone can help me!!

the free orange access is done from the orange sim not the phone.but i don't know where you could get the unlock code there are phone shops that could unlock ie-the lndependant ones
Posted by jenbones
So i need to unlock my phone to Orange to qualify for the free wap??
Posted by dude_se
you will have to unlock your phone and get an orange sim.
Posted by jenbones
OK cheers! Anyone know any sites off by heart?
Posted by dude_se
im just looking for unlock codes but they are hard to come by. your best off taking it to a shop or using an online service. i will let you know if i find anything.
Posted by jenbones
Cheers! if you type in mobile unlock codes in2 google there is one site that unlocks all makes of mobile exept my sharp and the gx30 gggrrr:@

im just looking on google but there is nothing. some online shops unlock your phone quite cheaply. i got my se f500i unlocked for £10. it is worth it. i have been using the free wap for several hours a day so if you cant find a free unlock code then i still think you should get your phone unlocked for the free wap and you can get text bundles.
50 txts=£4
150 txts=£8
400 txts=£12

Yeah that's good do you have eBaY? They do phones somtimes for just £2.50 per phone or try the eBaY Forum they give you lots of hwlpful links!!
Posted by dude_se
i forgot about ebay. ebay is a good place for unlock codes.
Posted by jenbones
Still wont do mine though
Posted by dude_se
theres loads of sharp gx10,20,30 and 902 codes. they should work.
Posted by jenbones
Dont really want to risk breaking it though - could this happen if i tryed it?
Posted by dude_se
it depends how they will unlock your phone. i tried to unlock a nec e313 once using codes off the internet and because i entered the wrong code in more than 3 times the phone stopped working. i dont think you could break your phone especially if you buy a code off ebay. if you are unsure then write to the seller. free codes off the internet are the most risky.

Ive downloaded Sharp unlocking software now - im just going to try the code once, lol i dont blame you for trying to unlock a 3 phone - £15 a month minimum top-up! Might aswell just get contract for that!
Posted by dude_se
i took it back because i blocked it lol! i paid £75 for it.there like £20 now. i cant affored £15 a month. thats like £200 a year. let me know if the code works. btw where did you download it from? i have just found a sharp gx10 unlock software but i have not tried it.

http://www.extreme-mobile.com[....]5b52d0e5723fe366f21d7ad96&f=39 theres the link it's in french ggrr damn! but there is a translation to English Adobe Document but i'm not trying that - maybe i should have listened in French in school LOL
Posted by dude_se
yea lol. the software i found requires a data cable. just carry on looking because something will turn up and i can guarantee you that it will be worth it. if you happen to break your mobile then just take it back and ask for a refund. thats what i did.

Do Vodafone allow thier phones to be unlocked?
Posted by dude_se
what do you mean. my f500i was on vodaphone and i got that unlocked. you can get any phone unlocked. no networks restrict it.
Posted by jenbones
But say i took it back, would Vodafone refund it?If they found out it was unlocked?
Posted by dude_se
im not sure but i would think so as long as the phone still has the warranty on it and you have not changed the firmware. the phone was still bought on vodaphone so they would have to refund it.
Posted by jenbones
I didn't get it from the Vodafone Store i got it from phones 4 u so i think i should be alright!
Posted by dude_se
oh yea you should be fine then.
Posted by jenbones
Good a GX 25 is a 2G phone isnt it? Just seen another topic that just gave me an idea.
Posted by dude_se
what topic is it? yea i think it is 2g but it is compatiable with a 3g sim.

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=38324
there it is - i was thinking about buying phones off amazon and unlocking the 3g phones and putting a 2g sim in:D
Posted by dude_se
so your going to buy a 3g phone, get it unlocked and put a standard 2g sim in it? i thought of doing that.
Posted by jenbones
2g sims do not require a £15 top up per month am i right?
Posted by dude_se
yep.2g sims are the normal standard sims.
Posted by jenbones
So u reckon people will buy these for more?
Posted by dude_se
so you want to buy 3g phones. unlock them and put a standard 2g sim in and sell them. i think people will pay more for these.
Posted by jenbones
Cool i just bought a USB data cable for my GX25 - 2 days delivery hopefully!
Posted by dude_se
what are you going to do with your new data cable. also when you buy 3g phones they usually come branded (there is 3 stuff everywhere) which can put people off buying them even if they have a 2g sim in. i also read a review about the gx25. it has 2.1mb of memory which is not very good. my f500i has 12mb of mem and its a cheaper phone.
Posted by jenbones
i know - i was v disapointed when i got it:( and you cant get memory sticks for these either can u:(
i was going to use it to put stuff off my computer onto my phone and vice versa

no dont think so. all of the sharp phones have crap memory. the gx20 has 6mb of memory and that phone was like £500 when it came out. theres a 3 phone i quite like its a motorola 1. i saw it yesterday its quite smart and has good features and is only £65 with £15 credit. when i decide to get my next phone i think i will buy a 3g phone because they are cheaper and have two cameras and memory slots. if i did buy a 3g phone i would have to unlock and unbrand it because i hate the 3 network.
Posted by jenbones
Im really annoyed with the memory - being what i bought it for - i thought it would have tons of memory i dont know what to do with it - 2weeks old, maybe i nshould try and swap it,.
Posted by jenbones
You cant extend the memory on sharps i suppose can you?
Posted by dude_se
i would swap it if i was you. there are plenty of phones on the market which are better than the gx25. ebay is very cheap so i would get one off there
Posted by jenbones
£170 on nothing! Do you know any fones that people would swap with me with a massive memory?
Posted by dude_se
im sure someone would buy or swap you phone. theres a p900 i just found for £200 on ebay which is a very good phone maybe slightly over your buget:

try and take your phone back to the shop and get a refund because there are plenty more phones out there you just have to look and grab a bargain. a motorola v600 went on ebay for under £80 which is quite cheap imo.

Posted by dude_se

Cheers! I'm really liking the v800 though - plus 3g phones have free wap for 3 months and dwonlods of music videos when you join!
Posted by dude_se
isnt that just for 3. not vodaphones 3g? im not sure though. whats your buget?
Posted by jenbones
