Why are O2 such a teriible network? High prices to call the customer services,, unhelpful emails. My k700's is playing up, they know they've got a problem with it yet they wont help me cause its after the 28 day time limit. Its happened after 28 days. Why use a phone that wont co-operate with the networks software? Dam them. Anyone know how to get to them? Can i threaten to cancle my contract? Which i've had since September.

What does o2 stand for anyway? Oxygen?
Posted by FuricTrax
I used to be on O2, now moved to Orange.
The reason why you pay to call customer services is because the Tariffs are so cheap, compared to the other networks.
If your problem breaks part of the terms set out in the contract then they have to help you...otherwise they are not upholding their side of the contract.
Posted by slattery69
yes you can possible break your contract if the goods dont work as they are advertised.
however they can offer you a replacement and you often have to accept this as part of the contract.
the problem is if they offer an equivalent as your idea and there idea of equivilant can often differ.
others in the thread that someone posted earlier have come up against this and if you stand your ground they may let you leave your contract, however if they offer a suitable solution to the problem they arent obligiged to do anymore

You could bring up Ofcom and having the reported to Ofcom as a serioulsy unsatisfied customer...
The fact that the network is acting and causing trouble on an otherwise perfectly working
k700i is not your faulty, be it in a 28 day period or not.
Its unfair practice!
Posted by lpt100
i've been to shop and they've sent it away giving me a replaement phone with a £50 deposit on it, a horrid nokia
Posted by FuricTrax
The chances are there is nothing actually wrong with your phone...
I have heard that there is a known problem with the K700i and the O2 network and that O2 even withdrew it from sale a few weeks back?
Posted by FuricTrax
Infact I just visited O2 online and you can't even buy it online anymore.
Posted by jcwhite_uk
What is the fault with the phone.
Posted by FuricTrax
Not 100% sure to be honest.
Although I do recall it may have been something to do with receiving text messages.
I think there is a thread somewhere if you look hard enough. This may have more concise details.
Posted by jcwhite_uk
Sorry. I meant what was wrong with lpt100`s phone. The general O2 problem with the K700i is with text messaging on the O2 not being completely compatible with the K700i
Posted by Jake Blues
thats it though, its not a problem with the PHONE as such, its a problem with 02 network not being capable. but as usual 02 blame everything else!
no other network has this problem with the k7, what does that say?!
i had a problem with texts and my t300 a couple of years ago, the girl on customer services said the text part of thier network was old and was due to be updated. time for another update?
Posted by Sammy_boy
I think it's just the O2 branded K700s that have a problem, i've been using an unbranded k7 on o2 with no problems. I think sometimes o2 has a problem in general with their texts - I had that problem when no texts came through then they all came through at once a day later on my p900!

Great another o2 Complaint's thread
Im the last 1 here with a workable K700i on o2 I swear

@govigov - I guess it's not OXYGEN mate, rather AUTOMOBILE as in O2=AUTO
Posted by Miss UK
I think its mean't to be something like hO²
Posted by lpt100
ho2? lol cant exsist, not enough bonds... :s
Don't you mean H2O? Water... O2 is the chemical description of how oxygen exsists in our atmosphere....
I supposed if we relied upon this O2 to survive we woulb probably be dead...

I really can't see the problem with O2.
I've had a K700i on O2 Online contract for 5 months now and not a single complaint.
Apart from the price of phoning O2 Customer Services, but I've never needed to do that anyway as I haven't had a reason

So o2=auto or oxygen?
Posted by FuricTrax
Most likely Oxygen I would of thought....As most of the adverts seem to depict bubbles (oxygen) rising through water.
I guess trying to signify that O2 is a refreshing network.....

I agree with the post name, O2 are pathetic. I emailed them asking to replace my K700 cause of the fault, said ook i dont want a nokia and there isnt another phone on the market i like, apart fromt he Samsung D500, I thenr eceived the meail saying yeh fo sure you can ahve one, but ud ahve pay the difference, i thought ok, how much would that be. I then got an email yesday saying having checked your account i am glad to inform you that you can be replaced with a Samsung D500 for free,a fter all my monthly costs tend to vary between £50 and £100. Today after i emailed back saying yes please send me one, i recieve an email saying sorry, you've gotta pay 80quid for it. I have since sent a reply in disgust at the lack of customer service and cooperation, and that if im a new customer and spend 45 quid a month i can have a samsung d500 for jack sh**, but if im an existing customer, i was given a dodgy phone, and spend a load more than 45 quid, that i have to pay 80quid. I feel i should be laughing at the shambles of a national network of prats! No offense to anyone who works for o2, or has loved ones who do!

God its always moan moan moan with you lot, change the record, because you sound like a baby that need's its nappy changing.
You have to realise that O2 only have about 500 people in customer service, two teams of 250.
All I will say is have a little think about why their 3g operation hasn't been hyped up as much as Voda.
Lets just say that they have a BIG trump up their sleave. And EVERYONE will want to be on O2 in about a years time.
That is ofcourse if you lot stop crying over spilt milk.
Btw if you say you will stop your contract they are totally allowed to say "we will sue you" for not keeping to your end of the agreement. Whether they replace your phone or not.
Yes O2 are having a problem but it has nothing to do with the K700, put it down as an exuse for an "upgrade"
You'll see what I mean in about 3 months time.
Some of you in oxford or the isle of man last year will know what I am talking about
Posted by FuricTrax
@Dyce9984
Are you talking about Super G?
Posted by Dyce9984
Nope
Posted by FuricTrax
Give us a hint then
Posted by liamtollan
Dyce,
Is this what you are talking about?
http://www.computerweekly.com/Article136681.htm
IMO, o2 shouldnt be supplying faulty phones. if they cannot replace it with one of similar quality, then they are not keeping their end of the contract (IMO).

partly, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.
example of TV channels "BBC1" etc
imagine downloading a 45MB, yes that is 45MB avi file to your phone at DVD-quality in under 5 mins.
all I will say is, have you ever considered O2 and an ISP and you will be on the right lines
btw there is nothing wrong with the K700i, it's just o2 use a different form of compression for their text messaging, and the K700i processes this at a different speed. Well something like that.
Posted by Bammers
If they have supplied the phone and network as part of contract, and the network and phone aren't compatible then they should be offering either to cancel the contract or replace the phone with a suitable alternative that is working. That is often the sticking point. BUT you do NOT have to accept a replacement. Hold out for either a working suitable phone or the contract being cancelled.
Posted by Dyce9984
its a very rare issue, and shouldn't be causing a problem. It just some people have seen watchdog and thought that they might get a free phone out of it, so they are getting upset as O2 have caught on to the fact.
it's mad it really is. My K700 is absolutely fine, I have the first batch phone, I got it the day it came out, and never had a problem, and supposidly my batch is the one that has the issue. hmmmmm

OK. So i got my phone back after not having it for about a week. A horrible week. So i was expecting it to work perfectly. It turned on amazing and it seems i've gotten a new charger. So its all good. UNTIL i send a msg. My inbox is full
Overall its was pretty useless, O2.
Any ideas what i can do now? Apprently if i send it off again it wont be flashed. Should i just resign to haveing a nokia? Or attempt to upgrade to the S700i or D500? Or is it worth waiting for Clara?
Posted by goldenface
@lpt Don't upgrade to the S700 as you will have the same problems. Go D500 or wait for O2 to sort out THEIR PROBLEMS. You are right to take issue with them.
@Dyce. If there was not an issue then why the Watchdog exposé? For O2 to view anyone with a problem phone as after a free upgrade is quite frankly a disgraceful way to treat its customers. If that's not what you meant then I apologise.
Have they admitted that there is a problem?

o2 are a bit slow to help their customers and they are pretty useless as a whole as a network they sell phones that dont work and i actually bought one of their online contracts if anyone is thinking of getting one my advice dont bother every month without fail they would charge me to much or for things i didnt use one month i used my 500 text allowence only to get a bill for over 850 they even admitted they got it wrong but still didnt solve the problem or refund me in fact they got it wrong the very next month i think o2 seem to be run by basil faulty
Posted by Bammers
Reckon your best bet if you want an O2 contract is to go to Orange and get them to match the tariff!! No probs with Orange (so far)!
Posted by david1975
yeah thats what i would do to i just switched to orange they do the 500 free texts and 200 mintues for 30 quid bargin
Posted by Miss UK
lol no otha ntwk will match my tariff

I bought a K700 on O2 as soon as they came out last July. I hadn't had a single problem with it. Even got it de-branded.
Two days ago it stopped recieving text messages. Put the SIM in another phone and they come through.
Went back to the O2 shop where I bought it and they just said they'd give me a new one. So today I went back with my box and charger etc, and they did give me a brand new phone, 9 months after buying it!!
I'm not complaining!
Posted by Miss UK
what phone did they give you? touchwood mines still ok, altho bearley use it since got my classic phone baack
Posted by Jools
Another K700i - with the latest O2 specific firmware. And obviously its not had 9 monts worth of use, so I'm happy!
Posted by DJcreamz
ive been with 02 for over a year now and generaly im very happy with ther service, as wihth most things you have to kick up a little stink before getting anywhere but its not bad, glad to here its sorted tho.
