Package consists of the a) USB adapter itself b) extension cable c) CD driver d) Pamphlet disguised as a quick reference manual.

The full technical specs are here

I just got this adapter yesterday for US$ 50.

This is the cheapest bluetooth adapter I've found so far from the net, and one that is also locally available.

The driver that was included in the CD was several months old, I suggest that you immediately download the one from their website before you start the installation process if you're going to buy one.

Software installation is easy enough, but the configuration process is not very intuitive. I had some difficulty making several apps (GPRS connection, Phonebook & Text message Manager PBTM, Float's Mobile Agent) work at the same time. But eventually I did, but not after countless tweaking and reading (and re-reading) the help file (not the PDF version of the manual!).

Forget about the SMS/Contacts manager software that came with it. You're better off with the one that came from , the PBTM or my current favorite, Float's Mobile Agent. (see the software forum for threads related to these two.)

But once you get it to work, it works flawlessly (it is my T39's fault that it still reboots during GPRS sessions )

Would I recommend it to anyone? Yes, definitely!

Don't let the sh*tty PDF manual stop you from getting this good buy - a steal at US$ 50 when most adapters cost over US$120 (there's another cheap adapter from Tecom, but it's not available locally. Someone posted that a few months back). At least, the help file is very informative.

Posted by cadcad

So gorgeous and so compact!
I think it just makes these 2 run and hide!!!
Tecom Bluetooth USB

TDK Bluetooth USB

I wonder how true is the 200m range claim?
Have you tested it, GOwin?
Another thing is wether it's USB v1.0 or v2.0, any idea?

Tested msi usb bluetooth adapter (MS-6967 ) on PCcontrol, BTcontrol, sendfile, GPRS, Fax Modem etc. All work flawlessly.

Highly Recommended

@ShawO, the 200m claim is for the MS 6968 model - an add-on card for MSI mainboards with the bluetooth header. It's USB 1.1 compliant. @*, i am from pinas :-]

My only complaint so far: it LOOKS cheap (the same price i paid for.) :-*

Posted by cadcad
do they deliver inernationally?
and who cares if it looks cheap!!
well from the pic... it does'nt

Posted by GOwin
@jag
i got it from PC Corner, Gilmore street cor E. Rodriguez, QC. Near St. Paul's College for PhP 2600 (or US$ 50). I believe PC Express also sells them, but I didnt visit their store anymore as I was in a hurry then, and was only there to buy the adapter.

@cadcad
am not sure if those stores deliver internationally (i think they dont), but you can check out the local distributors in your country for MSI products (they're well known for motherboards, so you got to look for shops that sell PC parts)

@gowin: which one looks cheap? the msi? does it look like it will become 2 if it fell?

Posted by GOwin
@berrybianka. yes, the msi. what i meant by cheap is that it's cheap looking, but it looks sturdy enough.

Posted by jorns
i just spoke to the support center at komlett.no, and they said that you have to have a motherboard that support BLR to use the bluetooth key from msi. Not a regular motherboard with USB.
And such motherboard cost about 1700NKR.

Posted by GOwin
what does BLR stand for?

Posted by jorns
I dont know, just a thought, maybe 'bluetooth ready' ?

Posted by GOwin
just scoured the net.

i think that BLR thingie is actually a reference to the MSI 845E Max2-BLR (with bluetooth pin header) mainboard which is being marketed with the MS-6968 add-on card Bluetooth adapter. I think they're referring to the add-on card, and not the USB adapter.

The MS-6967 is a standard USB v1.1 accessory, and should work on all kinds of boards and PCs with USB ports.

Make sure that both of you are talking about the USB adapter (MS6967 Bluetooth Transceiving Key), not the add-on card (MS6968 Bluetooth Transceiving Module) for MSI mainboards with bluetooth pin headers.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried using your adpater to get a GPRS dialup using the DUN profile? I have a 3Com USB adapter, and I can't get any stupid dial-up to work.

Posted by GOwin
@oscar, yes XP is supported. @titanic, yes i tried dial-up connections already.

Posted by cadcad
@Gowin and laffen ... this online store doesn't ship internationally either... It seems i don't have the chance to get it early...

Posted by all8
Just bought 2 units of msi usb bluetooth adapter (MS-6967 ) for both of my home computer networking.

US$50 each.It works perfectly

Posted by jag
@titanic have same problem. Tried dloading updated s/w from 3com site but need to fill in form and wait for confirmation. Still waiting . . Someone posted procedure on 3com usb. Try search facility.

@all8
where you bought it from?

@laffen
If you see the pdf file, you'll notice that it is meant to be a pc to pc bluetooth connector!

Does anyone know the Tel No of PC Corner? I wanna call them first before I go and get the Bluetooth adapter!

I was hoping that the USB adapter would also have the 'headset' profile so I could use my BT headset instead of the soundcard mic. :s Oh well.

Posted by jorns
good morning everyone. Someone from Norway who knows which store here in Norway who has the ms-6967

Posted by laffen
@ShawO

OK. I thought the msi MS-6967 was client only and that the MS-6968 was the server.

From the manual:
"The originator of the request is known as the client. The device that accepts (or rejects) the request is known as the server. Many Bluetooth devices can act as both client and server."

Posted by 619
jplac- pc express in shaw has 2 units left!! hurry!

Posted by jorns
@laffen
Laffen vet du om noen butikker her i Norge som har den bluetooth adapteren?

Posted by khernitz
will this adapter work with a compaq presario notebook pc running winXP?

Posted by ShawO
@laffen
I don't blame you...
Taiwanese English, took me a while to figure it out too!

Posted by GOwin
@ShawO
Actually, the quality of the English used in the manual is quite good. I have read terrible manuals from taiwanese manufacturers (I am not saying that it's only them who "murders" English )

@khernitz
yes, it should. Bluetooth is an open standard.
