Hi there,

I was woundering what 'firmware' is.
Am i correct that it is the whole software for the mobile phone? And if so is it possible for the SE T630 to update the firmware? What do i have to understand with a firmware update. Will i have more possibillities with my phone when i update my firmware or what?
Can someone give me an explanation.

Thanks in advance,
Pitte

this is the 3rd time in the last week or so that this question has been asked but its good to see people becoming more aware rather than just being users

firmware is what operates the phone but doesn't include any other software that you may add later to enhance its functionality

in general, firmware updates fix problems and only rarely do they add new features

You are not able to update firmware using, infrared or bluetooth. You must use a T28 service cable or DSS-25 desktop synch station.

Well, the cost depends on where you live, but the best place to check what the syncstation looks like visit the website and search for it there.

If you are in the UK, u can purchase it directly from online shop @ £30. The link to the DSS-25 @ the UK online shop is below:

Here is what a syncstation is as quoted from the website:

Desk Synchronisation Stand DSS-25
"Connectivity means more than just synchronising your phone book and calendar. Files, images and games can all be shared with your PC, while your phone's modem and fax functions can turn your laptop into a mobile communications center. With the Desk Synchronisation Stand, your phone can send and receive data just as soon it’s placed in the cradle. Connected to your PC with the USB cable in the kit, the stand lets you synchronise phone numbers, appointments, images, ring signals and more."
