looks ok

its ground breaking in my opinion.

its the first UMTS (3G) windows mobile phone, it has wifi, gsm tri band, dual cameras, first VGA resolution windows mobile phone, great swiveling screen revealing a useable keyboard etc etc

I just hope this turns out to be another from the HTC stable so that it also becomes available unbranded like the JAM. If so its definitly on my future list

here is some more on this...

I am on O2 and due a new phone...I hope it forms the basis of the XDA IV...

Here's hoping...

This looks fantastic. A built-in GPS module would be nice, but the omission of a mega-pixel camera would be my only real gripe on what, I would agree, looks a ground-breaking handset - looks like by the time they get to the MDA/XDA V, or the Imate JAM doughnut, we should have the perfect handset!

I hope SE is listening and will try to beat it with the next Pxxx.

Is there any information on dimensions of this phone ?

Posted by deuxani
On the T-Mobile site is said that the MDA IV is 100mm˛ big (so nothing on the thickness) This means it's about the same size as the MDA III (something like 125mm x 80mm x 30(???)mm)

im a little confused... it opens on the side like that... look where the speaker and mic are... how do u talk on it??
do you see what i mean?

Posted by deuxani
You can rotate the screen and put it down so it looks like a MDA Compact and you can call like you'd do with a MDA Compact.

I can't find any more pics on the net. all the sites seem to have the same pics.

I work in Frankfurt so you can be sure I'll be down the nearest t-mobile shop checking this out as soon as they are available

I just read that it is made my HTC so I am really hopeful of an unbranded (hopefully i-mate) version

more on this on the BBC technology site

T-Mobile bets on 'pocket office'

Posted by Dragonfly_TP
If T-Mobile has it, than there will be also other brands that sell this pocket pc. Yes it is just a pocket pc, with gsm/umts. You can look for a Qtek version of it or the OEM product from HTC.
Note: this is not the first pocket pc with 3G, also the Qtek 9090 (HTC Himalaya) has a 3G version branded under Audiovox PPC-6601 (US version only)

Posted by masseur
yeah, I posted earlier in the thread that it was made my HTC so I hoped that i-mate would sell it and I am busy watching their pages every day for news!

It's specs are as huge as it's size It's a mini laptop.

lol yhhh i think i will pass on it, just because it just massive man, way massive, i mean for someone to carry that around with them they would really need it, i mean really need it for there job and not use for personal use only. coz if they buy it for personal use only they wouldnt have it for that long, but if its for there job or business it will be 100% used and it features too. for now i am happy with my JAM and thats more because of its size.
