I think my head is going to burst
Been thinking of wat PDA to buy to pair with my T68i
Ipaq 3850(out of budget..aih),Sony Clie N665,Sony Clie SJ-30,Pocket PC,Journada
I 'm very confused now
Somemore my budget is limited to RM1.6k the most
Thinking of getting the Sony Clie SJ-30,but only running at 33MHz compared to 200+ MHz in Pocket Pcs.Any PDA users here? suggestions?
Thankyou!
Posted by scrreech
veon18: I would STRONGLY recommend the IPAQ. Expensive but worth it. I have a Palm m130 to pair with my T68m(i) & it works just the way I wanted it to... Basically need it to surf (bigger screen) & transferring calender dates & appts. Only thing it wasn't able to do is to transfer my jpeg/gif files to my mobile phone.
See what u actually need to do between the PDA/PocketPC & ur mobile. Then decide!

but i must say...
...the 3870 looks good!

hey thanks scrreech and Shawo!
Was thinking of which to get the whole day......
And then rushed to megamall at 8pm with the decision of purchasing a palm 515 at around rm1188.......IPAQ is too expensive for me, wan just a low entry level PDA
But then when i arrived the Sony Clie PEG T-665C/G caught my eyes and wow.......it plays music aloud and movies darn nice, then finally with the help of my credit card i manage to top up the remaining $ to get the T-665.....
yikes....have to fast for a month liao......

Hehehe.... That's why lah....
Posted by scrreech
veon18: Congrats!!! So, tell me how much did the Sony Clie cost? It cost abt SGD$650 here. I lurve the Sony Clie too (especially with the digicam)...
Have fun playing ard with it

Thanks guys
It's definitely cost more here in Malaysia
Erm..it costed RM1468 for the Clie PEG-T665C/G,around RM130 more than in Singapore
Yeap,i like the Digital Camera too..but i didnt get to buy it coz I didnt have enough $,think i'll just forget about the GD87 and P800,no $ to spare liao...
And the Palm m130 is selling for RM779 here, how much does it cost in singapore ar?
Actually the PEG-SJ30 quite nice also, the difference between a T665 and SJ30 is only one is running at 66MHz and the other at 33MHz and T665 has an integrated music player and movie clip player inside while SJ30 has none. But both devices are compatible with the accessories eg digicam, keyboard, game controller etc
HHmm....now i'm in doubt whether did i made the wrong choice choosing T665 over the SJ-30(RM1168) coz i dun really listen to music via the PDA and definitely not downloading any movies to watch on the PDA......

is there like a bluetooth ms?
how do you connect it to your phone then?
Posted by sfarieq
Memory Stick Bluetooth probably, I saw it in a magazine somewhere.
Posted by sfarieq
Can i change the cover of my t68 ? If yes, can i just buy it and change it myself ??
Posted by veon18
Think is the bluetooth memory stick...but then it should cost a lot
Am thinking of using the infrared to connect, havent really touched my PDA yet ,still charging ,8 hours recommended for initial charge.
scrreech:Are u using bluetooth to pair up your T68i and your palm? How much is the bluetooth stick for palm m130 selling in singapore? It's around RM500 here.
sfa:yes,u can get just the housings(T68 or T68i)from any Sony Ericsson Authourized dealer such as Telemas, Ericserve etc at around RM87 and they will install the housing for you for free, so why taking the trouble in doing it yourself?
Posted by bulkhy
hi ppl...
for T68i users...
is there any "CHUN" WAP sites to intro anot?
can we use msn messenger or icq with T68i ar?
come come
intro some chun sites k
thanx

veon18: A Palm m130 will cost abt SGD$500 when it was launched... now I dunno. I remembered that Palm made a promotion last Sept. They would rebate us $150 for the Palm m130. But RM$779 is cheap! A Palm m505 will cost SGD$399 now!
I am just using the infrared to pair them. Quite 'mahuan' to pair them up when I am on the move but I dun really mind it. Bluetooth would have been really great but I dun want to waste $. Just use what I have~ It cost abt SGD$180 here.

"u can get just the housings(T68 or T68i)from any Sony Ericsson Authourized dealer such as Telemas, Ericserve etc at around RM87"
--> Can I change my T68m Grey housing to a T68i Arctic Blue??? And do u know where is Ericserve in JB?
[ This Message was edited by: scrreech on 2002-10-31 14:48 ]
Posted by veon18
scrreech, yes,u can have your T68 gray housing changed to a T68i arctic blue or even better the mineral gray T68i housing for just rm87 with free installation and free servicing in any authourised SE service center. But i have no idea where SE service center is located in JB
But anyway the SE staff told me that if u have an original T68 with warranty and intend to change the housing to a T68i within the warranty period, your SE warranty will be void, as SE wants to retain their different models and discourage ppl from modifying one of it hp model to another model
But if your handset's warranty period is expired or does not come with warranty, the matter would probably not trouble u in anyway
:>
and p/s:does your m130 allows u to browse internet and what software are u using to browse?or does it only allows you to check mail?
*thinking of passing the T665 to my dad and buy another m130 since it's such a budget buy...shhessh!! I missed the promotion ,a rebate of RM300 will be great!*
Posted by scrreech
$87 is cheap to change the housing!!! *excited* But I dunno where the Ericserve is in JB. Will check the SE website later...
Yes, the m130 does allow us to browse internet (but with limited picture content... just like GPRS on mobile phone). What u see on ur mobile phone is what u get on the browser of m130. I just use the browser provided by Palm in the CDROM. It's user friendly~
Someone selling m130 in SG for 450 with BLUETOOTH!!! Cool or what! Hands itchy to buy but I have 1 already
Posted by hyperken

scrreech: selling price at rm200
Posted by veon18
wow..S$450 for Palm m130 with bluetooth!?!?!?!?! It's really tempting me to go all the way to singapore just to buy it.....but is S$450 the market price in Singapore or its just one of the shop was to clear stock/promotion/2nd hand item...?
not bad at all the m130..cheap but still allow surfing online
Posted by yapliren
@veon18
you may try to download funnyphone software from funnysoft.org.
It can let you sync picture to your palm and send it to your t68 later.
My palm work as a extra storage system for my t68. I stored 500+ pictures in my m105.
I think I will change to sony t655 right after christmas cause of normally price will be cheaper after christmas.
Posted by yapliren
anyway this is a nice article
hope you will enjoy

Posted by veon18
yapliren:thanks a lot for your tips, saved me a lot of trouble finding softwares ,looks like there are abundant of cool software to make the PDA interesting
Anyway the bad news is......my dad wanted the Sony CLIE T665, so i have to give it up and handed it to him coz i dun think it's wise to get 2 same model of PDAs at one time
The good part is....well.....he paid me the full amount of the T665 which i bought days ago and i managed to purchase a Palm m130 and saved like RM500,maybe for a SD slot digital camera or a bluetooth card later
:>
Suddenly i feel like can take over the world with just a PDA and a T68i..hehe...

Posted by scrreech
veon: U already bought a m130? So fast??? *laughs* Well, I checked out the price in Y! Auctions (I am always there!
I got a 32mb multimedia card (MMC) for SGD$50 recently... so I can store other non impt stuff. U shld put that in the list together with that bluetooth card
I believe u when u said that u could 'take over the world' with a (colour)PDA & a T68i

sanj:i saw Fujitsu Loox selling in megamall IT world 'PDA Expert', if i am not mistaken, the guy told me it's roughly RM2000,didnt really ask him to clarify or to understand better coz it's totally out of my budget
scrreech: o?i tot the m130 runs only with SD memory card,MMC also can runs in your palm m130? I went to the shop again before it shuts down tonite (3rd visit today) and bought a i-odata 64mb SD card at RM175,much cheaper than the Sandisk-- :< now i only have around RM300 to spare for bluetooth card
yapliren:i managed to send gif pictures from my palm m130 to my T68i but when i tried to send gif pics from my T68i to my palm, it says it doesnt support the format...funny uh? Any ideas of how to save pictures into your palm from T68i....?
By the way..for IR-Mobile connection to jaring and tmnet, anyone can tell me what no. to dial? and any specific ISP required? thanks a bunch!

Thanks veon18.Rm2000 ? Wah, gila mahal ... Hey guys, any news yet on T300 in Malaysia ?U saw the Panasonic GD55 ah? Sooo cute !! Only RM599 somemore... Which is smaller, GD55 or T600 ?
Posted by scrreech
veon: As long as the card is mall enough to fit in the expansion card slot... it's shld be ok. By the way, how did u send the gif files from Palm to t68i? Thru funnyphone??? Before, I really wanted to put my picts in my mobile & thought of getting an IR for my PC... then someone told me that I could actually upload my picts to Esato and then download it back again using wap... but picts not as nice... Maybe it's becoz it's in gif format?
sanjeevya: I got this letter promotiong the t300 recently from Standard Chartered (S'pore). They are giving it for free if I sign up for credit card from them. Too bad I'm not eligible...

You can't just beam any file into a palm unless it's a pdb (palm database) file. BUT there's a solution...
1) Beaming from Palm to T68
Go to www.palmgear.com and search for ZboxZ. Download it and read the instructions. This is a program that enables you to convert any file on your PC into a PDB file and thus enabling you to beam from your palm to your phone. Please note however that the t68 only supports file formats of .gif, .jpg, .thm (theme files), .emy (your ringtones) and .imy (imelody ringtones).
2) Beaming from T68 to Palm
You need a program called McFile (get it from palmgear too). This is a database program which lets you run your palm like windows explorer. You can control wat files to move and copy and watever you want. So the thing to do is to add a database (read the instructions and you will know how to do it) into McFile. So for example, you add in *.jpg... you will be able to beam a JPEG file to your palm (with Mcfile running) from your phone. If you add *.gif then you can beam GIF files... and so on... I do this to make backups of my ringtones, pics and themes.
I hope this helps! Cheers!
Posted by gilthoniel
forgot something - GIF (still ones, NOT animated) files can be beamed from your palm via Funnyphone. I seldom use it now coz i find ZboxZ to be more powerful coz i can beam any kind of file with it. But Funnyphone lets you view the pics on your palm though, so that's the good thing about Funnyphone. NOTE : Funnyphone only supports GIF files and EMelody ringtones.
How much is Sandisk 64MB SD card?

Ne1 know the specs of the NEC PRO P300 ? I dont have net access now, so please help me out here? I heard it is only RM999.... Thanks guys :-)

scrreech,sanj:aaww....how come all the good deals happen in Singapore??
gilthoniel: Thanks a lot for your info! U guys really happened to enlightened me a lot
Thankyou thankyou everyone!
BTW, i only managed to find 32MB Sandisk SD selling at RM150 at a camera shop, though it might be cheaper elsewhere in Sg. Wang. About the 64MB didnt know the price coz only 32 MB is available in the shop
Posted by yapliren
@scrreech - try to download the logo pack from funnysoft.org and try out first. Actually palm is not natively support jpeg and gif yet. Mean you can't view any jpeg and gif by palm yet but sony clie abble to preview jpeg only. So you need to convert your gif file to palm file format and syn it to your palm then only you will be able to send by funnyphone. I think funnysoft.org do provide the convertor software.
@veron I got mine scandisk 64mb mmc card february this year for my creative mp3 player and it cost me rm200(usd50) for the card.
Below is some of my favorite palm application
Noah Pro - english dictionary
KDic - english to chinese dictionary
GSMtool - to beam phone num from palm to t68 and ask it to auto dial it. I keep most of my friend's num in palm. And it can be a backup if my phone out of battery and i have to use public phone.
HappyDays - keep track of my friends birthday
MonkeyLogo and MonkeyTone - send logo and ringing tone to any nokia handphone through t68.
PhoneSMS - to keep all the funny sms in palm and able to resend it to other friend later by infra.
Overall a palm + t68 = perfect match to do most of the stuff.

@sanjeevjaya
I suggest you to buy palm pda but not pocket pc. As we know that MS product sux in memory management. Altough it have 64mb ram compare to palm max 16mb build in ram but pocket pc will end up with eating up more the ram. It's hard to find program that is over 1 mb for palm pda but "most" of the pocket pc software are more then 1 mb.
I used m105 for 1 year plus and I feel very satisfy for it. I might change my pda to sony clie either t655 or nr70v
