@ Jojo,
I finally replaced the Nokia 3230 with the 3.2mp-equipped Nokia N73.
So far, I've only really been taking night-time, indoor shots with the N73, mainly due to the fact that (being Winter here now) we leave for work when it's dark and get home when it's dark!
The weather over the past few weekends hasn't exactly been ideal either.
Anywayz, I like the fact that the camera keys on the side of the handset also light up with the blue-lit keypad, particularly for night-time use.
I have to remind myself, after using the 3230 for so long, that this new phone has a rather bright flash, and as such one can tell that I need to remind myself of this when looking at the bright reflection in some of the pics. So we learn, I guess.
First up is Mrs amawanqa's roses, using flash and macro-mode at night:
Next, my gothic-type
'holder-modified-charger', complete with the T610. Also taken tonight, in the study:
Sci-fi Predator statue made of engine parts stc.:
Light fitting near the bottom of the stairwell:
Looking forward to taking various decent pics in daylight conditions, including pics at the 2 forthcoming London motorcycle shows (within the next 2 weeks).
Watch this space...

Here is another photo of the same cat, this one was taken with a dvd-ram camcorder at VGA. A 10x Aspherical zoom lens was used at the tele mode. The file of this image is 129,000 pixels (about 1/8th. of 1MP) Photo by A.R.

Jojo,
You are right, the phone photos which were uploaded by davidsic and amawanga are excellent!
High resolution plus a complete colour scale. I think that if davidsic and amawanga uploaded 4 (four) photos per day at the "Phone Photos" section, the overall quality of that photo gallery would improve a lot.
The 'new' Tessar lenses of Nokia's 7390 and N73 were highly responsible for the superb results.
Congratulations
Armando Rozário - Cabo Frio, Brazil - January 28, 2007
P.S. BTW, I own a modest Nokia6265 phone camera, but my results are quite good..... but not as good as the ones taken by the 7390 & N73.

Jojo, axxxr, davidsic and amawanga,
Finally Phone Cameras from Europe have shown us that top quality images may be obtained....just as good as those produced by digital still cameras.
There is a great advantage in the new generation of Phone Cameras, high quality DVD video may also be registered.
I worked for KYOCERA/Yashica in Săo Paulo from 1984 to 1991, I had to field-test Zeiss lenses in Brazil. The quality is outstanding. Today NOKIA is also using Zeiss Tessar lenses.....to great advantage.
Davidsic and Amawanga have shown us what the good reliable Tessar lens can do.
I started a thread in an Asian Forum, "My Camera Phone is my Imaging Tool". Within 5 (five) weeks, it received 2,000 hits! If you are interested you may join this thread and submit your photos online to my thread, you may check:

Do you want to see a few of my photos, taken with my modest Nokia6265?
Here they are:

If you like the sample, digit these numbers instead of "106863".....I can show you another 7 (seven) Phone Camera images:

Jojo,
Thanks for your comments....it was you who encouraged and helped me promote the images which were taken by my Nokia6265 phone camera.
Now we can examine some better results (by Nokia phone cameras) which were uploaded in your thread on "other manufacturers".
Phone Camera fotos posted online will show millions of people throughout the world that a phone cameras in use, may one day surpass the number of digital still cameras in use. When will this occur?
I posted a note on Samsung's high-tech camera (multi-MP) three years ago. Their 10MP camera has an Asahi Takumar optical zoom lens if I am not mistaken. I would like to see the results....online....like the Nokia photos displayed on this thread recently.
Armando Rozário - Cabo Frio, Brazil - January 30, 2007
Posted by *Jojo*
@vga - Yup, Sir . . . I agree ! We just have to keep this THREAD rollin' as to SEE what the future of camfones will bring us . . . I'm sure MUCH MUCH better ones will flood the market. Perhaps by the time when we are witnessing camfones with 6-7 MegaPixels on them, some will attest here that those will really be comparable with that of standard- digicams by that time

@ Jojo and VGA,
Yes, the advances in camera technology is indeed evident, but we know that a lot of other factors determine a good pic too, like composition, the type and amount of light source, etc. etc.
Sometimes it's very much a case of press n' pray with cellphone pics.
I look forward to this weekend, when the London Motorcycle Show finally gets underway...hopefully I can get a few decent pics with the N73.
Taken today with the N73, in a less than ideal setting:

7390 doesn't have a carl zeiss optic, it's an error of some nokia sites. But it made nice shot in good light condition (lot of noise and night mode doesn't work very well in poor light)

Davidsic,
Congratulations, I can smell and taste your 'expresso' ! High resolution, perfect colour scale!
Perhaps your 7390 doesn't have a Carl Zeiss lens. Sometimes lens manufacturers &/or Camera Phone (Nokia) do or do not claim that their models have Zeiss lenses.
It is a 'marketing product field test'.....a good &/or very good lens is attached to a product, the results tested by tens of thousands of users are analysed.....later the product's commercial name is made public.
As a photo-lab quality control professional, I am almost sure that the lens which is attached in your Nokia 7390 is a Carl Zeiss lens. Why not ask Nokia to give further details, after they examine the high quality of your images?
BTW, my Nokia 6265 is very modest compared to yours, but I have been able to take some good photos with my Nokia which was produced in Manaus, Brazil.

@ama - NICE . . . very NICE indeed ! The design on the Ducati looks like an OLD one (bad paint - perhaps
Posted by amawanqa
@ Jojo,
I presume you're referring to the first Ducati in the pics...?
You're partly correct, a similar limited edition tricolore colour scheme has featured on a few older Ducatis in the late 80's, but was never done officially to the predecessor of the 1098, ie. the 999, or even the 999's predecessor, ie. the 916 and its various incarnations.
The last incarnation of the 916, which was the 998, also came out in a limited edition, very dark metallic green to commemorate The Matrix trilogy, in which it featured in that one unforgettable chase.
I'm not sure if I'll post more from this particular show. I have more, but some really didn't come out too well as I had hoped. It was also difficult to get a decnt pic at times, amongst the thousands and thousands of people crowding around the machines.
I'm collecting my first UK bike this Saturday, which is the wild Suzuki TL1000S, fitted with Ohlins suspension (thank goodness the original, infamous rotary damper was ditched for Ohlins' finest..) and will post a good few pics of it in the next week or two.
Posted by *Jojo*
@ama - YUP, the very first Ducati uploads mate . . . RED and White in color . . . looks like an OLDIE
Posted by amawanqa
@ Jojo,
I didn't take much of the Jap bikes, mainly due to the fact that I took so many of them, particularly the 2007 models, when I was at the International Motorcycle Show in Birmingham in November. I'm sure you remember all those pics I posted.
Much of the Italian exotica that was at the London Motorcycle Show wasn't at the November show, hence my bias of European manufacturers' pics this time round.
Next, the Ducati 999 has been on the road and World Superbike championships for a good few years now; Neil Hodgson, James Toseland and (last year) Troy Bayliss all took the WSB title on board the 999.
Lastly, the TL1000S is a V-twin superbike, not a cruiser at all. It was first launched in 1997, but soon had such a reputation for being a bit of an animal that Suzuki was forced to recall all of them and fit a steering damper as standard to calm the thing down. The handling was not aided by Suzuki's flawed rotary damper. Basically, when the oil's viscosity inside the rotary damper changed as it heated up, the shock didn't work as it should, thus the top-of-the-range Ohlins suspension on the one I've bought has none of those nasty habits...
Suzuki did bring out the full-fairing, beam-framed TL1000R a year later, but this bloated V-twin race-orientated version never won anything, not helped by Suzuki's insistence of using that cursed rotary damper, even in a revised format.
The SV1000S that is currently available is a tamed version of the TL1000S, minus the beefy upside-down forks and (finally) a more conventional rear shock arrangement.
