Mine is a 32k sim too. 64k sims have just been introduced here.
Posted by govigov
I have a 5 year old 16k sim. But there are 64k sim's available. Havent come across a 128k sim.

Here in India, I use a 32k SIM card. 64k SIM's have been introduced. Though a new generation of USIM's have been introduced on a few handsets with RIM (a CDMA 3G 1x service provider) .

Whats the difference between them?
How do i know what i have?
Posted by k4m!k4ze
Is there any way of finding out what **k sim you have ? Number of contacts ?
Posted by Ing. FijoK
I have 32k sim
Posted by whizkidd
Usim =Universal sim?
Posted by Ing. FijoK
What is "universal sim"?
Posted by govigov
16k sim's have only about 100 - 120 contacts. 32k have about 250.
Posted by Ing. FijoK
So I have 16k. 150 contacts

a sim with mora "K" can more fast ?
Posted by Debu
@lenn, not entirely accurate. 'More "k" ' means more space to store Messages and Contacts.
Posted by whizkidd
How many contacts can a 64k sim hold?
Posted by lenn24
a sim with more "K" can go more fast ?
Posted by govigov
Not necessarily, but that too is possible. There are other more features like, gprs pre enabled sims.
Posted by lenn24
allright, is for more contacts

a sim of 16K it can navigate in gprs?
Posted by Debu
@gov : Airtel 64k 'Friends' card - 250 contacts, 100 messages, Settings for mms, mobile office , airtel online, airtel live etc.
Posted by OluYom
@lenn24: I doubt it, but let someone who knows verify. My WAP GPRS-enabled SIM is 32k, but I am upgrading to a 64k Internet GPRS-enabled SIM in the nearest future.
Posted by whizkidd
Does, gprs depend on card type? Or is it surely service provider dependent.
Posted by govigov
@lenn, i'm the proof. @debu, thanks for that. Do you know if we can upgrade?
Posted by lenn24
here in venezuela, the navegation gprs only can with sim card of 32K, the sim card of 16k dont can
Posted by Debu
@gov: for 500/- you can change your airtel postpaid to airtel friends plan and 64k sim in banglore.
Posted by OluYom
@whizkidd: I doubt if it is entirely network dependent. A 16k SIM is unlikely to be able to handle GPRS data rates, but will conveniently run CSD data.
Posted by k4m!k4ze
@AYA - govi has a 16k sim and he's on wap right now isnt he ?
Posted by Ing. FijoK
I can use only CSD on my 16k sim
Posted by govigov
@debu, for prepaid? @all, I can store only 10 messages and 110 contacts.
Posted by whizkidd
So it is network dependent afterall!
Posted by lenn24
@govigov i can have in my sim card 250 contacts and 10 sms, but in my cellular i can 70 sms and 250 contacts

k4m!k4ze! wrote: "@AYA - govi has a 16k sim andhe's on wap right now isnt he ?". If that is true, then I stand corrected on that. Still, there are certain SIMs that cannot handle certain data rates. For example, I do not see a 32k SIM handling 3G data either, unless someone is going to blow my bubble again? :-D
Posted by Debu
@all : I've used gprs on an old...OLD sim card (got it in 1997), Which my dad still uses on his RAZR,v3.
Posted by whizkidd
I envy you debu. Donate me some of your unwanted phones!
Posted by lenn24
@debu how is this "GOLD" card?
Posted by OluYom
@whizkidd: It is still not 100% network dependent. Take for example an attempt to run WindowsXP on a 486! It may run on a Pentium 2, but not as well as it would on a PIV. Some data rates just won't cut it on some SIMS.
Posted by Ing. FijoK
lenn24: Do you think gold number?
Posted by whizkidd
AYA, it works perfectly with Govi. Even better than mine!
Posted by govigov
Aya, debu and myself have old 16k sim's. And they work perfectly. May be its the indian way of doing things!
Posted by lenn24
is a card or number?
Posted by Debu
@gov
Posted by OluYom
@whizkidd: That's where other factors come in: 1. Network. How many GPRS slots are active? 2. Location: You get slower speeds in congested areas e.g. big cities than in less congested areas. 3. Time: Slower speeds at peak hours, and 4. Handset: How many slots does your set use, and what is its processor power?

What is this GOLD card?
Posted by govigov
Think t230 is gprs class 8. And k series is class 10. P800 should be class 8. That makes the diff in speed.
Posted by lenn24
good information!!!

@lenn
i had an old 16k sim here in venezuela, and a SE T200 and i was able to navigate with GPRS, i have changed my sin just to get more space for my contacts.
Posted by lenn24
Habra sido con el T200 porque con el resto de los modelos de la "SE" no se puede navegar con la sim de 16k
Posted by p900 lover
i have a 32k sim, how do i go about getting a 64h sim?
also what class GPRS does the p900 have?
Posted by arvinsign
my primary phone uses a 64k SIm..plus a 64k and 128k SIM from another network
Posted by lenn24
@arvinsign u have two sim cards?
