@debu: I am interested in an answer too. I havent had the time to do a research on that yet, so I am hoping there's someone out there who knows :-)

I thot 7710 is series 90!

Series 90 is 9500.

@gov : aah yes, you are correct, Thank you for pointing out my mistake.
@whiz, Gov is right, the 7710 is indeed a series 90, the 9x00's are series 80.
Even so, anyone knows?

Confusing. I think Nokia will run out of four digit numbers some day!

@whizkidd
They'll just put an " i " after those 4 numbers like what they have been doing before.

@whiz
Apparently no one knows of any series 90 stuff.
And the real deal-breaker is that Nokia doesn't ship it with even 1 game!! Some media device.

Nokia's only touch screen os is series 90. And googling will get you some games for sure.
Posted by Debu
@gov :Unfortunately, Searching in google brings me to links of several 'In Production' games, including the excelent Red Faction 3D game, but no games currently available. Even on the nokia site and club nokia market not even 1 game is available for download or purchase, all games are 'Coming Soon'.

Tried p2p or warez?

I found one app Mobi pocket Reader. Apparently some e-books reader of some sort.

Not quite true. Also Series 60 has support for touchscreen.
And to be accurate, there's no Series 90 anymore. All the references to the Series 90 has been removed from the Nokia site. There's just 7710.

Er.....which series 60 has touch screen? And isn't touchscreen called UIQ?

Sorry, I remembered that Series 60 2nd Edition FP3 included support for touchscreen, but included support for qwerty. And there are other touchscreen UI's than UIQ. For example 7710 has a touchscreen, but it's not a UIQ.

So whats the basic difference? And whY did SE choose UIQ?

That is not correct Click here
Series 90 is Nokia's newest creation. I dont think they would do anything to it before they have squeezed every penny they can out of it.
@whiz:
Didn't use series 90 on their Pxxx, for the same reason that they didn't use series 60 on their s700 or k700 Posted by k4m!k4ze
wont games and apps for series 60 work on a series 90 symbian phone ?
Posted by Debu
I would suppose not. Series 60 only supports 208x172 and 320x240(qvga) screens. whereas Series 90 have 640x320 support.
Posted by whizkidd
Debu, whats that reason?

Its only a resolution difference ! The apps and games wouldn't run full screen maybe. Is that the only difference ? Has anybody tried it out ?

@ Whiz: It would hardly seem prudent for
to use Nokia Series 60 on their phones. Its would be like the Americans using Soviet MiG fighters in combat Posted by orange

Series 90 was merged to Series 60 last autumn. So, Series 90 as such doesn't exist anymore. In the future Series 60 will also support the resolution of the previous Series 90 platform as you can read from the www.series60.com.
Quote from the site:
"Series 60 will support the following screen resolutions: 176x208, 240x320 (QVGA), 352x416 and 640x320."

@orange : Thanks for the correction dude. Hmmm..... Looks like you are correct, so it means s60 applications may run on s90.
