The size and weight aren't important to me, I just want an "all in one" reliable phone. So, which one should I go for? Any suggestions?

nice features... just checked it out on Motorola's site... looks like a good alternative to the P800... knocks the 7650 out (what doesn't???) but the screen is quite small... actually, I find the screen kinda pathetic for a phone this big. But if I wasn't an Ericsson fan, I would consider this phone.
If size and weight are NOT a consideration...I would seriously look at an iPaq with the GSM expansion pack... it has a VERY high GPRS rate and in case any new standards arise, buying a new expansion pack won't cost as much as a new PDA. PocketPC apps are all over the place, easily syncing with your PC... movies play faster on the iPaq, as do mp3s, and all other media that can be played on PocketPC devices. Plus the expansion pack has it's own battery that gives you a week standby time.

Here's how it looks. No beauty (not ugly either), but great features.

jplacson, thanks for the tip, I'll check that option out. But for now it really looks like my next phone would be A820.
And I guess I'm lucky, not to be a fan of any brand

its quite big lookin???!!!

It is a good one! Even Siemens cancelled its 3G phone and opted for licencing the same platform the A820 is built on.
But do not forget that the camera is an add-on and Motorola is well known for the crapiest user interfaces around, beating even Siemens and Alcatel

Wha??!! That phone is nothing in front of even 7650!! I mean, look at the designs and stuff!!

Yea, well it is big, but not that huge. About 2cm higher than P800, the other measures are actually smaller.
The screen isn't as big as P800, but it's bigger than 7650, and even P800 with keypad in position.
But how about user interface? General speed of menus? T9, or iTap speed? Anyone has experience of newer Motorolas? My last one was a micro-tac, and that was ok then

Design and looks, can't really be argued since evrybody has their own taste.
And being a 3G phone, well it's just in a league of it's own. Looking at technical specs, there's no phone that even gets close to it. Look at the data speed (384kB), it simply outruns all the others by far.
It has all the same (and more) features as P800, 7650 and Sendo.
Anyway, thanks for all opinions

the dataspedd 384?? who needs that.. tell me a operator that support it. When 3G hit the streets no one would like to have an old motorola. I defenitely go for the P800...
And the dataspeed is all that the phone is better than the P800 in, and no one can use it. bah IntelligenceEverywhere was it?

Yea, well, this actually IS a 3G phone. It supports gsm/gprs and 3G.
And why wouldn't we need mobile broadband? Why do we need it at home? Isn't a 9,6k modem enough? You see, this is the point. Fast mobile internet, just connect it to a laptop and you've got broadband where ever you are (as long as there's 3G reception)
What, except the screen, is to the P800's advantage in comparison to A820? In case there's something that I've missed.

Looki, looki what I found....
Since this seems to be an evening for 3G, maybe this thread should be a part of it too?

I think it is a good phone. I still prefer the P800 because of the touchscreen (and bigger screen) and the fact that it is a pda and a phone in one. I am changing mind, due to the delay, about buying a P800.
I am considering to wait a little longer until some sort of P800i which is UMTS enabled comes out... I guess it should take about 6 months (had some experience with my t68m, then eventually converted to i software).
I don't want to be f***d this time...
P800 has it all, but will survive for a too short time. My t68 is 1 year old and is still one of the best (the best, for me..) phones out there. If I spend more money for a better phone I want it to last at least the same time... A P800 UMTS would do the job. A P800 Gprs would only make me angry in a month or two...
What do you think?

Uh, yeah. Unexpected.
A820 is smaller (without the camera). With the cam it is arguably The Worst Looking Phone In The World. The datarate is unarguably desirable. The question is, will you be able to use it?
I imagine writing emails, working with the calendar, editing documents, surfing, etc is much more comfortable on the P800. The inbuilt camera and Symbian are other merits.
A820 is undeniably attractive. But buying A820 is like paying extra buck for fewer features and getting forward-compatability in return. The problem is that you have to wait quite a while before you can reap that investment. In that time (say, one year) the price of the phone will drop with 30-40%. With P800, you'll be able to use all of it from day one.
Which gives you the most satisfaction?

I am also considering this one as it is UMTS compatible. I just gotta wait and see other phones hitting the market with UMTS compatibility and then make up my mind; preferably a UMTS phone by
sometime next year as I got my T68i only five months ago and want to have it for at least a year
