Did you remove only the battery or also the sim? In my phone all messages stored in the phone memory gets deleted if i change to a different sim.

If it was once, forget it. Or else do not forgive.

wtf ?
@thread starter - There's no reason why the sms should get deleted, if it is stored on the sim, then it will be always be there unless you delete it. A master reset would be the only way to get rid of sms stored on the phone memory other than deleting it yourself

Thats not the case with my T230. :-(

I think this issue was already... Never mind :-D Anyway if you change the sim you'll lose all sms stored in the phone.

Killer, if you put in another sim, you will loose all sms in phone memory. Only the sim's sms is retained.

Exactly ;-)

The numbers in phone memory stay even if you change sim. I tested it here with a K700/T610/T105
However, I bought a T105 for my mom, setup time and date, contrast, wallpaper, wap settings and fully charged battery (+16 hours)
then I removed battery and sim and packed everything nicely in the origional box and gave it to here a week later. I helped her put in the sim and battery and when she turned it on, the phone was back to factory settings as when I turned it on for the first time.

You should not have removed the battery.

What i have noticed is that when i change the sim sms stored in phone is erased and my call list is messed up. Everything stays normal :-D

its a security feature.
SE in thier ultimate wisdom have decided that people only own one sim card. therefore if the sim card is changed, it must be another user. and seeing as sms are meant to personal, the phone erases them.
stoopid or what?

:-D

Arrrgh I hate it when this happens, sometimes I forget and use another sim, and when I check all the smss are gone!!!

Imagine how i feel when i losed all the best wishes for the new year! :-(
Posted by govigov
Nature, i disagree. I find that quiet useful.
Posted by milmino
@govigov I dont really care if my smss are read, the only reason I would mind was if they were based on me or the other person doing wring which I'm not! I think
should give an option to delete txts or not when sim is removed.
Posted by govigov
hmmm..... They do have the security feature asking for password. May be they should allow the last 5 sim's entered to access sms.

I think There's a simpler way. Just put an option in the locks menu of the phones by which one can choose whether to delete or not the sms stored in the phone memory while changing sims. And it it protected by the phone lock code! Thats simple isn't it?

But my problem is : I JUST remove the battery and replace the batt back (without removing the SIM) and all of my SMS are gone! How weird! Is this phone has to depend on the battery to store the SMS?
Posted by govigov
That doesnt happen cyberkid, i usually change batt with my 230.
Posted by _ANDi_
It's strange, the stored sms shouldn't erased in your case. What phone are you using?
Posted by cyberkid
T630.
Posted by _ANDi_
It's not normal acting that way, maybe it's faulty. :-(
Posted by govigov
Yes. I think so too. It must be faulty.
Posted by Jake Blues
that does sound a bit wrong. did anything else go missing, settings, numbers etc?
@govigov
going by the same logic then why not erase phone numbrs? surely phone numbers are more important than sms?if someone got thier hands on my phone, i would rather they didnt see certain numbers than read a couple of joke sms.
Posted by govigov
Hmmm...... You are correct. That was stupid thinking.
Posted by _ANDi_
@Nature: If some1 save numbers in phone, we can take as public, if saved to sim themn the info is personal, so sms are sent to a certain number/sim, so we can take as personal. :-D For me messages are important than numbers. ;-)

i see what youre saying but EVERYTHING in my phone is private, regardless of if its in the phone, on the sim or written on the outside.
NOBODY plays with my phone..
Posted by _ANDi_
Yes, but things may get stolen :-(
