Hi guys,
I managed to kill my t610 a few months back by taking it apart a bit to often... now i have another one, which is also broken and it seems to have the same problem... ive also managed to brake some spare pieces on the way
The problem is the following:
The mic doesnt work!!! neither for voice recordings, or conversation, instead it just makes a crackling noise.. could anyone tell me what exact part i would have to operate on (change, clean, etc)??
thanks for your help

Heres a pic so if you could download, mark the affected area, and upload it again, i would be grateful!! (looking at the photos it looks as if i have parkinsons disease!!)

Beneath the keypad, next to connectors, there must be a small slit.

u mean beneth the aluminum "panels" with holes in????
Makes sense, because the only time i took those of was the same time that it died...

There should be a lightning symbol near the slit. (Not sure of t610, but my K500i and t230 has it.)

on the bottom of the phone?? the charger connector???????
yep is does have a "lightning simbol"...

Is there a slit near that? (Lightning is for charger) the mic is situated inside that slot. Probably loose connection.

iF you meen this button shaped...thing, ive tried changing it with the piece on the other t610,but no luck, although my father has a broken t230, so i could try the part on that...

Sorry dude, cant see images. I think it is button shaped. Change the button with t230. It should fit. Btw, have you used a headset? Can you talk then?

Posted by folling182
i can make a phonecall (antena is ok, earpiece/speaker ok, but i cannot talk, mic is broken) i cant even do voice recordings...
i'll try using the t230 one tomorrow, my fathers back and i cant be bothered to explain what im doing.. lol

Did you try using a headset? If it works, ok. Else, your mic is ok and something else kaput.

yep, i did try it just after it broke with a hbh600 and works fine...
Thanks a lot for your help!! i'll tell you how i get on tomorrow with the t230!

I have just done the same thing by changing the covers on my wifes new T610.
I can receive calls and hear fine but my mic isnt working. I have tried my bluetooth headset and everything works well. does any one know of any diagrams or instructions I could follow to try and re-install the mic properly.

i think my t610 could be considered dead at this stage...any kind and generous person willing to fix it for me (at the modest price of...free?)

Dude, i read about an hour ago that changing the cover MAY make the mic to go dead. Also the back screws should be well tightened (not too loose, not too tight)

I know this may sound a little silly or obvious, but have you tightened the screws enough when putting it back together? I've had a similar problem with a T610 and it was sorted by tightening the screws a bit more (But not too much, you could break something!). Either that, it possibly could be because you've taken it apart so many times the screw threads aren't holding the screws in place properly as they've become worn.

Have you changed the facia recently? I've come across problems with some non-genuine facias that didn't quite fit properly so the mic wasn't connecting properly with the PCB, swapped it back into the old case, and the mic suddenly started working properly again!

It sounds like it's not the mic that's knackered, but something to do with the connection, be it a pcb problem or a contact on the mic I'm not sure!

U look like a great tech. Hand. To avoid the situation further one should operate it less than full volume.

i did put a non SE fascia on, but it worked fine, then one day i took it to pieces... very little pieces, and it has never been the same .
Yep all the screws are ok, and i have put the original housing on, still doesnt work
When i do a amr. audio recording it just makes a crackling noice (a loud one NOT just a normal "wind/breeze" effect on the mic)

sucess. it turned out to be the new housing being badly manufactured. i replaced the original centre piece and the mic works fine. only thing was the back no longer fitted properly and the infra red no longer worked. end solution - i put the old covers all back together and it all works fine. i guess it pays to buy the original cases sometimes hey.

Hi folling 182 if you like i would be more than happy to look at your phone. cant guarantee anything but I dont mind taking a look, I have sent email in case you still need help.
