The monaloth is smaller and cheaper and has a colour screen!

What is this Monaloth? I want one!!

If you mean the Monolith MX-7010 then you are wrong on all three things!

The 512mb Monolith costs £111.95 inc. VAT, the iPod shuffle 512mb is £69.

The Monolith is 39.5 x 78 x 15.5mm (47755 sq. mm) and weighs 69g

The iPod shuffle is 84 x 25 x 8.4mm (17640 sq. mm) and weighs 22g

The Monolith uses 2 different coloured LEDs for its screen, hardly what most people would call a 'colour screen'.

Just got my ipod shuffle from the Apple store in Regent Street yesterday. Having had an ipod 40gb and an ipod mini previously, I didn't think a Shuffle would be workable without a screen, but it is really good.

I have approx 9000 songs on itunes, therefore I would previously get into a rut, and only listen to maybe 10% of the songs. With the shuffle, you just plug it into the USB port and select 'Autofill' and it loads a random selection of songs. Turn the Shuffle onto 'shuffle mode' and you're going. There are so many brilliant songs that I have re-heard now.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the ipod shuffle to existing ipod users, and people who are new to the ipod. Great gadget...

EDIT: Just remembered that I should mention the ipod shuffle's size. With a conventional ipod, I find it impossible to carry it in any suit pocket, with the ipod mini you can just about get away with having in an inside pocket (as long as you don't button your coat). With the Shuffle, you can easily have it in any pocket without it ruining the cut or line of your suit i.e. there are no ugly crease lines.

hi guys. me planning to go for the i pod 512mb.. is it worth? and any alternatives to be considered?

Posted by Glenny
it is surprisingly small, but i have a bigger music collection, and thinking that bands/singers will release future songs, i like to leave room for more....
i wondered why it says January....
