Because your sending it abroad your depending on other networks to get your MMS there. If something has gone bad along the way your message will fail - basically if you can send to the UK you're alright, Orange won't promise you can send abroad, because they can't control the other networks it has to skip across.

While sending mms abroad, i usually send it to an email address. It works most of the time. :-D

well i send SMS is fine........why not mms??

Sms is supported by all service providers. But not mms. Thats why.

it also depends a lot of the providers. i can't send MMS to any of my neighbouring countries. and they all have MMS.
what we could is email every provider over the world to allow this. and when i say email i mean everybody.
good idea or not?

I can successfully send an mms to any operator in my country using my email account in mymail.ro. But haven't tried that internationally.

@whizz...this is worth a try from India. With our operators here, you never know what could happen

Yeah right. Mms is now charged. :-(

@whizz, I use Orange prepaid. I still send MMS & do not see a deduction in the balance.
Having read your post I just sent one to a colleague & checked my balance. It has not changed??What charge r u talkin about

Sending MMS's to other countries require an Operator's alliance with the recieving party's operator. eg. Sending MMS to Orange in the UK, or Hutchinson '3' in Au, via airtel, orange and hutch in India works, But sending to Sprint or Cingular, the MMS returns saying 'Bad Recipient or something. Also, if you're sending to any country, and your operator has an alliance with one of the many operators in that country, but that one operator has an alliance with all the rest, your MMS will still reach.

@whiz are you on airtel coz they carge 5bucks per mms?
@debu i dont think either hutch or airtel allow users to send/receive mms outside their network coz i cant even send/receive mms to airtel delhi users from hutch delhi. Havent called up hutch cc for this yet but when i had called up airtel cc i was told i can send mms only to airtel users all over india. However earlier on airtel i could send an email via mms but even that doesnt seem to be possible on hutch...i have sent many emails to my yahoo account but they never reach. To have a system of international mms all networks worldwide have to act at the same time but they dont seem to be bothered.
