Actually Athlon X2 is a desktop CPU & Turion X2 is its mobile counterpart with less power requirements, but still offers almost the same level of performance.

@gov a media center. Forget about the dvd player, divx player, h264 player and just use a computer to play them. Get a basic system without a monitor with an average display card with an s-video and hook it up to your tv.

@blue - The P990 is definitely cheaper NOW, about just HALF the price of the P1i . . . compare the specs, if you will be gettin' the P1i, wait for about a month, so that the unit you will be gettin' is already a stable one . . . ya know - BUGS! Good Luck !

just stepped out to lie out in my car.
@blue,between p990 and p1both have same bugs(check p1 bug list) and both have same memory management problem(uiq3 problem) but p1 got 2x ram(to counter the memory leak) so it wont crash(my p990 doesnt crash much nowdays)also its got 3.2mpx,slim but smaller screen and no flip.
see the pros and cons and get the one u like.

@blue,p990 costs 17-18k and p1 costs 25k.
the firmware of p990 is almost stable but for few nagging problems and most problems are due to low ram.

yes they share the same hardware..few differences r qwerty,wifi in p1 and 8gb walkman in w960.
