Hi,

I am trying to get gmail to work on my V800. It finds the server and says 'receiving emails' but then hangs and finally crashes the phone. Here are the settings I used:

Connect using: Vodafone GPRS
Protocol: POP3
Incoming server: pop.gmail.com
Incoming port: 995
Encryption: TLS/SSL (domain pop.gmail.com)
Mailbox: my_username@gmail.com
Password: ******
Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing port: 587
Email address: my_username@gmail.com

Has anybody here managed to get it working?

Never tried it with Gmail but I once configured my accounts and forgot to put "3" after the pop, eg. pop.gmail.com - pop3.gmail.com

Hope this helps

some operators block the ports you need to access gmail

i have spymac pop3 and it works fine but gmail doesnt work cause i guess they blocked all the ports except for the mail ports and port 25 (and a few more i cant remember what they are)

I've managed to get my V800 to connect and tell me that I've got no new messages in Gmail, but as soon as I put just one new email in there and connect again, it sits on "Receiving emails" and doesn't do a lot else.

It also crashed the phone once, when I cancelled it and restarted the send and receive.

Shame, this was gonna be a really useful feature for me.

EDIT: Oops, there it goes again. Just timed out this time, to a crash and reboot.

Yes, there were talks of a few email service providers having problems with the V800 vodafone email service.

i have the same problem with the V800..

same configuration as said in the first post. when i try sending a mail the phone connects and then says "failure".

When I try receiving my mails via POP the phone shows "receiving emails" and then crashes so that I have to take out the batteries of the phone..!
Does POP-mail-receiving via SSL work at all? is it a Gmail specific problem?
weird error

Everybody is in that same situation with the same error. What i did was to forward my gmail mails to another mailbox, like hotpop.com and then use hotpop to access the mails. Hope this helps.
