I am a little confused, as it can't be Japanese, so where is it from?
Cheers, Chazzer.

norway/sweden or something of that sort.
It started out selling Toilet Paper, but then diverged into selling mobile phones

meths, u thinking about salora?
tel.me from austria.
heard nokia was into pulp and paper industries before they ventured into telecom.
and i don't know if this is true, but a large percentage of the finnish gdp is through nokia. (like investments etc.). is it true?
@boba... was /// a purely telecommunications co. or had they diversified into other markets?
Posted by duo_m
@joebmc
i think you're thinking of the company nokian. they're the company that makes performance tires and rubber boots. they are originally from the town of nokia in finland but moved into a larger facility near the russian border. i should know, my mountain bike tires are nokian brands and they cost quite quite a pretty penny but worth the money spent on unlike their electronics brethen...

I guess /// is purely a telecommunications co.

The headquarter of Nokia is in Finland and the big profits and taxes stay there! But the factories are in China, Brasilia and so on. The owners are Americans in most cases! Did u know that the mean factoryprice for a nokiaphone is 4.5 Euros!

where is Benq from? is it Japan or US
Posted by plasmadog
Benq is from taiwan i think. They are the oem for motorola.

They have 9 factories in 3 regions: Europe (including Finland), Americas and Asia. Recently they decided to close one in the US and build a new one in India.

When did nokia step in com biz?
Posted by sapporobaby
Sorry, but there is a town called Nokia and the phones are not produced there, but in the nearby town of Tampere. Second, at one time, Nokia was the largest single rubber boot seller to the Russian Army but then peace broke out and the govt had to think fast. So, they decided to invest in telecom. Helsinki is the home of the Nokia Headquarters. Also, Nokia was at one time about 15 years or so ago was about to go bust and guess which company from Sweden almost bought them? Look at the second word on your s700. The original CEO of Nokia also shot himself in the head trying to keep the company afloat.
By the way, I am not Finnish. I simply can read.
Posted by Matteus
Only afew phones of nokia are made in Finland! The two factories are in Oulu Liminka and in Salo.
Posted by BobaFett
@sapporo what do u mean with second word on s7?
Posted by xpx
| Quote: |
|
i think what sapporo meant of second word on S700 is; Sony Ericsson
/// is the second word
Posted by Jake Blues
is true that nokia make tvs then?
if so it would be interesting to see the xpress on covers.
Posted by sapporobaby
Right. Ericsson alost bought out Nokia. However, it would be a bit rude to purchase a company where the CEO had just put a hole in his head.
Nokia makes Satellite boxes as well. They also make network equipment, wifi, etc... A good place to start would be: www.nokia.com.
Their network equipment sucks though. Ericsson (without the Sony) makes better networking (GSM, etc..) equipment.
Posted by Jake Blues
i thought i heard a while back that nokia sold thier satellite reciever division to pace?
Posted by duo_m
@sapporobaby
wow! i never knew that. thanks for the history lesson, mate
Posted by BobaFett
@sapporo nice post!!! :-)
Posted by soichiro
its amazing how a seemingly harmless and innocent question can span up to four pages of replies.
Posted by BobaFett
Nokia deserves it. The rival must be respected instead of underestimate it.
