K700i "MMS received" icon stuck

I received an MMS the other day but the icon at the top of the screen didn't disappear when I had read it. If I receive another MMS I just get two icons now - the second one disappears after reading it but the first one remains. I've done a master reset (settings, not all - don't want to lose my downloads) and even a software upgrade via the SE update service but the icon remains.

How do I get rid of it?

Try deleting all messages?

Such a simple solution! Thanks.

In fact, just deleting the original MMS that caused it to appear in the first place fixed it.
