Thair, I would like to know what do you think about the 6680. When are you going to get one at your shop.I had to order mine from Germany (my brother lives there). How much does the 6630 go for ?

Posted by brix25
Oh Mario, if you get the 6680(not from Vodacom) you'll be locked out from using the Vodafone Live portal according to Tahir...someone will have to sort you out.

Posted by JK
Sorry tahir got my days wrong...

BTW u can talk a lot of shit... if som1 owns a vodashop in a particular mall it doesnt mean they own the others!!!!!!!! 4u shops are not owned by vodacom... they are chatz stores!!!

and if u dont have all 8 of vodas 3g phones then i doubt u got a vshop unless u fromm 1 of the farms in SA :)

3g- not all phones will be branded a branded phone and a normal phone are all the same... eg - sam e800... the branded version is called a e810 so all in all well get branded and unbranded phones

tahir

what if there are MTN people in this forum like the ones who make the decisions for the company dont u think u giving away vodas secrets???

I worked for voda and its not a good idea to sell the company here...
SPs are going to get very very competitive in the coming years... and if u went to voda ceo roadshow you know what we in for!!!

i like your passion for the company but watch what you say.. dont regugitate all the training u recieve...

BTW who trains u??? do u know sharifa?? she cute hey??

MTN actually have a trump card by being slow coz they can better voda..

by posting dates/launchs on the forum MTN would know when and how to launch certain things!!!

think about it.... advertise specials but not company info... its called internal mail for a reason!!

Hey Rhino8 Vodacom was selling the K700i + HBH FREE on Weekender Everyday since December 04.It looks like the store you went to was pocketing them.

And to 786 KBR.4U stores is a CHATZ franchise YES but they don't belong Chatz. It belongs to idividuals.

I am in KZN.The guy that owns Vodacom 4U in La lucia mall owns the Vodashop in La Lucia mall. This guy owns 4 Vodashops 1 Vodacare 1 4U store and he owns a non cell business.Sharrifa is CUTE

Posted by JK
ha ha ha

Mr One Cellular!!! thats not a vodashop!!!

:) :)

786 KBR in your previous post you said i must not mention what Vodacom will be bringing in future because its competitors might see it and launch it before us.Well The SMS voucher was launched in Dec04 prices on calls and data were dropped and MTN and CELL C did nothing till today.I know Cell C has a R39 airtime for SMS.What ever i mentioned on this forum was published in the latest VodaWorld Mag.

1 last eg:Vodacom Launched LBS(Location based services) such a long time ago. What they competitors did so far?NOTHING.You are right by saying MTN slow. When did MTN outshine VODACOM.

[ This Message was edited by: Tahir Ally on 2005-03-27 10:16 ]

Posted by JK
YES OK but we rubbing it in their face... they might react faster...and harder...

by being slower they have a better advantage... learning from vodas problems

but ne way wach the dates and who ever the journalist in this forum is!!!

Posted by Tahir Ally
They can do what ever they want but they will never beat Vodacom.Did you know that Vodacom is the only network is Africa to have an ISO 14001 accredation. And Vodashop is the only Franchise that is a FASA member thats in cellular .

Try getting a contract from MTN or Cell C.They will get a answer after 5 working days even if you are an existing customer.I know Cell C is a bit faster than MTN in processing applications. Vodacom applications are done online. We can give a new customer a answer within minutes or max 1 day.NOW this has being going on for the past 10 years.Just from this you can see the other guys are not as jacked up as VODACOM.

You know dealer web is almost the same like what the banks have. The IT VODA has,it can be a bank over night.

Posted by brix25
Am I the only one confused by that last reply.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ BRIX25.Dealer web is an internet site that vodacom trade partners use to do credit checks, update customers details, etc.Thats what i meant its like the system the bank uses and with that type of IT Vodacom has the infrastructure to open a bank. They only need licence to operate. They don't even need funding

Posted by brix25
Good clarification Tahir.

Posted by mario2002
Brix don't be sarcastic.I also don't understand what he means.I see just lots of english words but I don't think english is his first language.Huh if I read more of Tahir's post I begin to write like him.Tahir are you Somalian? I don't mean it bad or anything (I myself am of german origin) I think by knowing your origin some of us will understand you better :-) Greetings from Jeffreysbay.Mario

Posted by brix25
I suspect he's either an Indian or Pakistani emigrant. But like 786KBR said don't give away the trade secrets...I can see you lapped up that training( re-education) you received from Vodacom.

Posted by Tahir Ally
If you have a 3G phone and have 3G coverage visit www.wap.ttv.lu.YOU CAN WATCH LIVE TV with no TV licence required because its streamed.

Posted by Rhino8
Live tv but you still pay for 3g. That could be expensive.

Posted by mario2002
Some people think gprs/3g data is cheap in South Africa.I had a chat the other day on IM with one of you.As a matter of fact gprs/3g is stil expensive.A minute of video = 5 Rand ! At 350kbps. At the moment we (the ones with 3g handsets) are fortunate because vodacom subsidise the video call and only charges for audio.1minute videocalling costs the same as a minute of a usual phonecall. However they don't care if you watch tv or listen to hifi-quality music. In such a case they charge you for the data which works out to 5R/minute at 350Kbps !

Posted by JK
watchin tv on your phone is an extravagance!! its not completely necessarry...
so rates can be what they like,, video calling is the same rate so its cool.

Posted by Rhino8
@mario gprs is cheap if you do what i do with it. I dont use it for video calls and stuff, maybe coz i cant yet i would not mind paying less tho.

Posted by brix25
Last night @ the Cape Town Jazz Festival caught my first glimpse of the 6630. Mind you everyone in the crowd was showing off the video recording capabilities of their phones. I'm back on my T68i due to the battery on my K700i bailing on me. Will have to get it fixed tomorrow.

Posted by Tahir Ally
VIDEO CALLS ARE THE SAME PRICE AS VOICE ON VODACOM.FREE MINUTES DO APPLY.This is for ever.IN some countries you pay 3 times more than a voice for a VIDEO CALL.

Posted by JK
WE KNOW !!!!!
WE TALKIN BOUT WATCHIN TV...

Posted by Tahir Ally
The site i mention to view TV you will have to pay for it.If you watch TV on Vodafone Live,IF ITS FREE ITS FREE,IF YOU HAVE TO PAY IT .IT WILL SAY SO......................VODAFONE LIVE COMING THIS APRIL to VODACOM.

Posted by mario2002
@Tahir Buddy there is no need to shout. We understand you (at least try to) How sure are you - Vodacom will sponsor the videocalling 'forever'? Anyway, how much are you selling the 6630 for? I can get the 6680 for €600 = R4800 + another R350 for postage, handling, insurance and another R620 import duty. :-)

Posted by Tahir Ally
Price on the 6630 is not available yet on Vodacom because its being tested by Vodacom.Nokia will admit there are software problems with 6630 and according to Nokia Vodacom will have the 6630 by April with NEW software.MTN has 6630.......I did not say Vodacom is sponsoring VIDEO CALLS.I said VIDEO CALLS are the same price as VOICE CALLS & this will be for ever. How ever VODACOM might even make VIDEO CALLS FREE for a limited time because its been done in other countries like SINGAPORE.The difference between us and EUROPE are the EUROPEAN operators spent 100 Billion of Euros on licence fees for 3G,charged customer high prices for 3G services.Vodacom only pays R6mill a year for 3G licence and 3G is reasonable priced in SA.In the UK prices were high and today they are discounting prices like its going out of fashion.3G prices will come down in SA.

Posted by brix25
I'd like to see more competition in telecoms market Vodacom and MTN are ONLY being charged R6 million in licence fees yet 3G is so prohibitively expensive on Vodacom.

Posted by Rhino8
@ brix

Once number portability and yelo 3G comes along i am sure prices will go down. Im happy to wait for a 3G phone, even tho im itching to buy one now.

Posted by CodeMaster
Why not just get 1 now, you pay nothing extra for video calls. Then when data costs come down you'll already have your 3G modem.

Posted by JK
@ tahir and brix

if im not mistaken i think the licence fee issue is a once of thing..
and voda payed around 70 mill for that... + signal towers... but with 3g towers u need about 3x more towers to cover a particular area compared with normal towers...

I tawt of sumting yesterday... do u notice their are no MTN ads or posters or billbourds any where.... mtn is using all the money to build their 3g network!! jus my personal opininion....

Posted by mario2002
I wonder what problems did vodacom find on the 6630.My brother has one for 4months now.(got one thru his work in germany) he knows about cells more then I do.(works in the it business) and never complained about any major faults.I wonder if vodacom and nokia sa are using the time to work out a nice menu for the phone.I personally hate branded phones.

Posted by brix25
One thing I HATE about my T68i is the numerous error messages I get when trying to xHTML pages, especially on esato where I spend a lot of time.

Posted by CodeMaster
@brix25, I know what you mean. I have EXACTLY the same problem. Are you on Vodacom? Are you able to log onto the Vodacom4me website to check your talktime balances?

Posted by brix25
Yeah I can check my balance on Vodacom 4u portal ...it's quite nifty. This afternoon the sales assistant said I could only expect my K700 back in about 3-4 weeks which totally sucks, all that time to replace a faulty battery.

Posted by JK
no guy u were to sweet and quiet... u shuda demanded a free brand new 1!!!

Posted by brix25
I'm generally very calm... But yeah when I heard I might be getting my phone in 3/4 weeks I got pissed off but didn't blow a gasket. Now I need ways to occupy myself while my precious gets a new battery. I'm already missing Splinter Cell PT-3D.

Posted by Rhino8
At briy, i just love that game.

And someone asked why i dont get a 3G phone now, because the phone prices will drop.

Posted by brix25
Seems like phone prices drop every month. Popped into the shop and saw a K700i selling for R2199 excl starter pack. Will weigh up my 3G options at Christmas.

Posted by JK
K700 = R1699

Posted by Rhino8
3G for xmas.... Yay:-) i cant wait.

Posted by brix25
@786KBR: I think the price I quoted was fair... R1699 is ridiculous.

Buddies, can any of you receive internet radio on your cellphones ? Believe it or not I can now. My brother pointed me to Virgin Radio. There I got a application for free which allows me to tune in a few international stations. The sound is unbelievable for a old cellphone like mine. Everyone at work think I have a new phone or something. Today I've downloaded another radio tunner which is even better then Virgin's.I can tune in 100's of stations all over the world, including my home town-Nürnberg ! At 16Kbps data rate costs me about 30 South African cents a minute. Not very cheap but cheap enough to listen to the finance and other news.Unfortunately the applications are for S60 devices only.I hope someone will program a java version,so that you chaps can join the fun! Greetings from Jeffreys. Mario

BREAKING NEWS:THE SONY ERICSSON V800 will be available after the 6 April 05 on Vodacom. It will retail for about R4500.3 Sharp phones will be available, the Sharp 902 will retail for about R6000(PRICEY BUT ITS THE BEST). 2 New Moto, V980 and V550 will be available.Samsung E810 will be available and might be Free on Fam Top Up.E810 will retail about R2700.Nokia 3220 will also be available.NO 6630.I think Vodacom will bring the 6680 instead of 6630.6630 + 6680 no date yet .All the phone that are AVAILABLE WILL BE VODAFONE BRANDED.

Posted by brix25
When you're paying R6000 for a phone you've definitely got money to burn. That's almost the price of an Apple iBook...damn these expensive phones. This reminds me of the first Panasonic (forgot the model)cameraphone on the local market which went for R7000 when it was released 3 years ago.

Posted by Tahir Ally
SONYERICSSON V800 will be Free on business and talk packages and might be R799 CASH on WEEKENDER @R135pm because its the same costing of the Moto E1000

Posted by mario2002
@Brix my 7650 was R6200 when I bought it in nov '93.My dealer charged me a bit more then usual. In jan '94 was on a special for just over R5000.I had for almost 2weeks a P900 almost a year ago. (actually exactly 10days) first the keypad broke off while I had to get quickly out of the vehicle at work.No big deal I thought I did not use it much anyway. But a few days later the nice, big screen broke too while arresting a criminal (he punched me in the chest exactly on the cell) only then I realized the advantages of the well protected screen of the 7650.Since then I am back to my old blokia and it hasn't missed a key stroke since day one.I guess I am just lucky with this one :-)

Posted by brix25
@mario: I hope the reference to '93 and '94 were just typo's because I remember seeing the 7650 for the first time in 2002... We were all excited about the T68i, MMS, Bluetooth, Java and the first Symbian OS.
