HOWZIT, to you all... Does anyone have some sort-of software where by you can turn on the Bluetooth (of a SE T610) from another mobile (SE P800) or PC (with a Bluetooth Dongle)... or is that wishful thinking? Or EVEN some code you can enter on the T610 itself that permanently enables bluetooth... or is that once again wishful thinking...? Please Help...asseblief!!!

Posted by Rhino8
Wishful thinking dude. If your bluetooth is switched off, other phones cant send or recieve to your phone. Thus i dont think its possible. I may be wrong thou.

Posted by brix25
Welcome Lord Merlin.

I think it's a bit of wishfull thinking, being able to swtich on the BT in other devices would be quite dangerous, especially for people with smartphones vulnerable to viruses(**cough cough** Blokia 6600)

Posted by Rhino8
PmPl@blokia

Posted by brix25
Don't laugh...Blokia is actually a word in the K700's dictionary:-)

I realised when i typed it. PmPl

Posted by brix25
What's the big deal with Vodaworld apart from having all these shops specialising in communications under one roof?

Posted by Tahir Ally
I am replying to 786KBR and not to you BRIX25.

Posted by brix25

LOTS OF NEW 3G phones will be available in April,Vodafone LIVE will be launched. Before the end of this year Vodacom 3G coverage will be almost every where and any where then HSDPA will be available.Vodacom will try and cover any town and city this year.Vodacom will roll out 3G coverage faster than it 2G network becuase 3G masts are only 1 meter high.No enviromental impact assesment is needed for 3G,so this will save alot of time ..........MTN will start 3G next year........JUST TEASING.Why is MTN is so quite on 3G and EDGE.I think MTN is quite on 3G because they don't have the content like VODAFONE LIVE.Content is the main driver for 3G.Would some one from MTN please speak up or is MTN just having a YELLO day.

Posted by brix25
LOL... For the first time I think I agree with you...content will drive the non-business sector of the 3G market...MTN knows this that's why they launched MTNloaded last year...the thing is, not many people have used it even though it was heavily marketed. Would you pay R50 for an S60 java game that you could get for free by simply searching Google? No, neither would the rest of us. MTN realised this that's why it would be cool when they launch 3G after June(?) to have exclusive content.

Posted by Rhino8
3g will be content driven, but then the content should be reasonably priced. MTN charging R5 for a ring tone, and 50 bucks for solitaire, and then you are not happy with the game, R50 thrown away. You shouldn't really say content driven, but rather FREE CONTEND DRIVEN....

@ Brix25 No one from MTN is posting stuff here because they all know they GPRS rates are so HIGH.Two big differences between Vodacom and MTN are Vodafone live has free browsing, when you download content from Vodafone live you don't pay for download. You only pay for what you buy.MTN charges you for the game and the download.Lots of companies are buying Voda 3G because you can have your live conferrence streamed to your projector.Companies can stay in there regional officers and watch what the boss is saying.

Posted by Rhino8
That is all very well, but how will call prices be affected by all this new services?

Posted by brix25
Rick700 is on MTN and he hardly ever posts here or anywhere else for that matter...it's too damn expensive. But please guys for all their faults no-one should underestimate Y'ello. Last year they caught every1 off guard by offering free GPRS. My guess is they'll surprise us again especially with number portability around the corner.

Posted by Tahir Ally
Number portability will be around in NOV 05 and all telecom networks will have it @ the same time. When this happens we might have a price war.Comming back to price, since i am a Vodacom dealer i quoted a few customers on blackberry and Moto E1000 and these customers told me we have the same price as Vodafone UK.When Vodacom buys phones after the Vodafone alliance they buy them through Vodafones account because Vodafone has a global buying power Vodacom will never beaten. You do your own check.Visit any Vodashop ask them on a price on a middle to high end phone and visit MTN and you will see MTN will be more in price.Just wait for the Vodafone live handsets to come and you will see fire works

Posted by brix25
Prices vary from place to place... I'd be honest and say that I'll never buy a phone from a Vodashop...they're too damn expensive and the thing about 3G handset prices being that same as the UK is a bit out of context...many people buy them on contract with the handset heavily subsidised. RatherCompare the local price of say a K700i with that in the UK and you'll see we're being ripped off... But Tahir will somehow justify paying R2800 for the handset.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ BRIX25.Vodashop gives you a 2 year warranty on all handsets which covers the entire cost of the phone..................Some might kill me for saying this......Any Vodashop or Vodacom dealer that does alot of contracts + starterpacks and has been trading for long time will have a huge customer base. These Vodashops commision every month are over R100 000 and even million. Some Vodashops belong to the same people.Did you know if there is a Vodashop in a shopping mall and in the same mall has a VODACOM4U or a Vodacare, the owners are all one.Thats why these stores add a high mark up because they will preffer to sell you a contract.Another thing the prices in UK are cheap because that market is saturated + all the manufactures have factory in those countries so they pay no import or duty cost.India and China sell 5 mill phones a month we don't even do there monthly sales in a year in SA.So volumes brings down prices.Wait for Vodafone branded handsets and you will see prices drop

Posted by brix25
The SA market is also pretty saturated. And no, they don't make phones in Europe, all are made in Asia, especially China. Like I said before...the day any network starts branding their phones they can forget about me as a customer, I don't think I'm the only one feeling this way.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix Most new phones that will be available on Vodacom will be Vodafone branded in future. You have to buy a Vodafone branded handset to you use Vodafone Live.Did you know in the UK most of Vodafone customers are on 3G.If Vodafone has to turn of its GSM network today, only 2 million customer will be affected and i read some where on esato that in 2006 2G phones will not be sold in UK,when phones come out the UK networks dont test them.Thats why there are so many people complaininng in other countries of defaults in phones. In SA it has to be ICASA approved than network approved.I am not saying we dont have problems with our phones. These testing delays launching of products and costs are added.

Posted by brix25
I'd prefer a bug-free phone than being the first on the block with a particular model. Vodacom can brand their phones as they like, when I eventually get myself a 3G phone I wouldn't want it branded... So no Vodafone Live for me then.

Posted by Rhino8
@brix & tahir
In order for me to get a vodafone branded handset, i would really have to get kickass service.
At this moment you can phone customer care only 30 times per month, which in most cases are more than enough but sometimes it takes you up to 10 or 15 calls to fix a problem.
Another thing, MTN only had free gprs because their gprs network had loads and loads of bugs.

To be honest, i am the type of guy that really goes out looking for extras. If MTN decides to give free gprs at the moment....

Posted by brix25
...then you'd take it. We know South Africans love free stuff. Back to MTN, when I used their free GPRS hardly experienced problem...on average downloaded 80kb items on my trusty old T300 ...but if I had to download 1Mb files on their network don't know...one thing I do is I'd have to have bags of money.

On the contrary, some phones are manufactured in Europe.
Nokia is in Finland
Ericsson is in Sweden

Posted by brix25
@Alpha001: Next time you remove your battery It will most likely say your phone was either made in China or Indonesia. Nokia might be from Finland and Ericsson from Sweden but they haven't made phones there for years.

Haha.... If you call not being able to download a 20kb ringtone during the day good service and no problems.... Well i don't

Posted by brix25
When you've got about 250k new users on your network you would get problems.

Posted by mario2002
@ Tahir In one of your previous posts you state Vodafone to have more UMTS subscriber then GSM ! Can you give us a link ? Where did you get that from ? All what I could find on the net was that Vodafone only began rolling out UMTS on a grand scale as from last year.I know you have made in the past some 'dubious revelations' but this really border to ridicule.

Posted by brix25
LOL....Tahir is a salesman first, so he's trying to convince everyone and perhaps himself that 3G is the equivalent of cellular Nirvana. Vodafone only started 3G in November last year and already everyone on their network decided to ditch their GSM handsets for a trustry UMTS handset...LOL

Anyone considering getting 3G should wait until the dust has settled and the hype died down.

Posted by Rhino8
Its hard but im waiting to get a 3g phone. Maybe untill december.

Posted by brix25
@Rhino: December won't be too bad, hopefully prices would've come down, MTN would've launched their service, and number portabality would make changing networks all that easier.

Posted by Tahir Ally
Vodafone UK had 3G since the last quarter of 2003.In 2003 they were selling the mobile connect card only in Nov 04 they had a range of phones. If you want to wait for MTN to launch 3G it might even be early 2006.I know MTN promsed us 3G this coming JUNE,they also promised us EDGE.But MTN is keeping so quiet and no EDGE.By 2006 Vodacom will almost have the whole country covered with 3G.

Posted by mario2002
I am thinking on buying mine next month.I am not saying which one is going to be (some chaps on this forum may not be too happy to see that name on their screens). The cell will have 3g and edge and will give me the opportunity to personally test the data rates. Upload should be the same, but download should be faster on 3g (at least in theory is) Greetings from Jeffreys. Mario :-)

Posted by Rhino8
So mario is getting a blokia. As long as it is not a moto, coz then i will feel sorry for you.

Posted by brix25
@Mario: Looking forward to getting an unbiased review of the 3G service from Vodacom.

Posted by Tahir Ally
The blokia will be available from Vodacom next month. All software problems with 6630 has been fixed according to Nokia SA.Any Moto E1000 that has been shipped out of Vodacom warehouse from the middle of March was loaded with the latest software.I sold a customer new stock and he is getting 2-3 days standby.People must admit that Moto has the smallest 3G phone in the market. Most 3G phone are clam shell and they are big and bulky.I never own a moto only Ericsson and SonyEricsson. If i have to change it will be between SHARP or SAMSUNG

Posted by Rhino8
Sharp 902 doesnt look to bad or too big. Saw a demo today.

Posted by Tahir Ally
Did you see the Sharp 902,was it a live working handset and were did you see it.I will keep on saying this THE SHARP 902 IS THE ONLY 3G PHONE WITH AN 2MEGA PIXEL CAMERA ,4x OPTICAL ZOOM with FLASH +VIDEO CABLE.THE 902 was made for VODAFONE ONLY.I hope we get the FERRARI VERSION TOO.

Posted by Rhino8
It was switched on but i could not work with it. Someone in vodashop had one, and i know its the 902 coz vodashop got a dummy.

Posted by Tahir Ally
Why does MTN has the same YELLO theme the whole year. They only add summer to it when its summer. They might change it to Yello 3G.And what happend to 10 10.MTN MUST BE MORE CONSTRUCTIVE

Posted by brix25
As usual Tahir provides the comic moments on this thread and quite biased at that. I don't mind their Y'ello campaign.
