Another Nokia explodes.Nokia Thailand is getting Sued.50 year old man was working on a high voltage pole when this happen. This man lost his right leg and 5 of his toes will be amputaited on his left leg. This was reported in todays news papers.Nokia always blame fake batteries. There were few cases in SA last year and only 1 was where a generic batt was used. I never heard of other brands exploding.Did you.

Posted by brix25
Couldn't bother with a Nokia would hate to lose my limbs. I think it serves them right to be sued...they would ensure their phones aren't weapons of mass destruction.

Posted by Rhino8
Well, i always knew there was a reason for me not buying nokia.

Hello. You chaps why on earth aren't you using a instant messaging program on your cell? With the fairly cheap vodacom gprs charges is really a los not to use it! Imagine the connectivity of one or more IM-program combined with the mobility of a cellphone ! ! ! You have always your buddies in your poked !My telephone bill is almost half of what it used to be.And the price stays the same no matter to whom on earth you chat exchange pictures, instant voice messages, short video clips, etc. The other day my 3year old developed some nasty red spots allover her body.I had on idea what it was,but after a chat with a american buddy (dr) he asked me for a few pictures.A few minutes later a diagnose came.Spot on as confirmed a day later by a local GP.So let's exchange our IM Names.Anyone is welcome althou I prefer one or 2 lawyer and media reporters. Greetings from Jeffreys.Mario :-)

@brix25 Thanx for ur welcome.
Well it will be a while for Orange to provide that since it just took over from Vista Cellular Network last year.
Our biggest provider is Mascom and i've been trying to talk to them but it seems they need some expertise on the area of wap. So i suggested them to like work hand in hand with eXactmobile since they have a partnership in getting logos and ringtones there, but to that one they said nothing.

Looks like down here when u have the most advanced phone the least you will use it. It's really a bore!!

@ TAHIR

Are you allowed to tell us all this?? Is it not Vodacom info only? -apart from advertising... which shop u own??

Posted by CodeMaster
@Hahir Ally & Rapid Blue,

Since both of u seem to be in the loop, maybe one of you can give me a (fairly) straight answer...

I have spoken to both Vodacom & Sony Ericsson, and have recieved conflicting answers as to when the V800 will be available in SA.
Sony Ericsson said maybe May/June, with the Z800 a little behind that.
Vodacom said that the V800 is currently with the Vodacom Test Centre to check compatiblity on the Vodacom network, and will 'HOPEFULLY' be available end March / early April.

So which is it?

Thanks

Posted by Tahir Ally
According to SonyEricsson regional manager for KZN and the person who controlls stock @ Vodacom, the V800 will be available from the end of March.Watch this space for detail.

Posted by CodeMaster
Thanx TA,

I hope your source is correct, cause I am due for an upgrade on the 10/04/2005, and I HATE to wait for something I really want

Here's to waiting...

Posted by brix25
Can't recall ever making use of Cell C...laughed at their ads in the cinema but that's about it.

Posted by mario2002
Has anyone heard about the 6680?I've just found out, is not only a UMTS device but also a S60 ! Does anyone know when will be available in SA ?

Posted by Rhino8
I think cell c gprs ought to be real fast coz they dont have that many users.

Posted by JK
Dont waste your time on a E1000!! crap phone...

If u want a v800, theres a shop in sandton city that have all the latest phones, all imported.... dont think they have waranties or anything, but if u desperate...

I think theres to much advertising going on here... advertise in the newspaper!!

Posted by Rhino8
And am still bored

Posted by Tahir Ally
I will be getting some New E1000 Moto tomorrow.I will report to this site if there is any problems.Remember i said Vodacom has loaded all E1000 with new software on Friday 11 of March. If you buy one ask your dealer if they got there stock after 11 Mar05.The Nokia 6880 will be in SA by May June.

Posted by zani_003
Any1 heard of anything new from Mtn ? Is cell c offering gprs 2 prepaid customers ?

Posted by Rhino8
Lmao @ exactmobile charging R50 for a game that i can get for free and pay less that 50cent gprs tarrif PmPl

Posted by Tahir Ally
I FEEL sorry for exactmobile and when everyone has a Vodafone Live handset because its much easier. All you do is go to Vodafone live menu browse through the ringtone you want and download it.No sending sms or a phone call or waiting for your tone to come which happens and sometimes never comes which cost your about R3.00.Vodafone live gives you free GPRS browsing,You only pay when you buy something if its FREE ITS FREE.You only pay for browsing when you leave the Vodafone live site which is R2.00 a meg

Posted by Rhino8
Well i still aint paying say R3 for a polly tone, if i can get it for free. What will the voda life portal offer? Will there be regular free stuff?

Posted by brix25
Honestly I don't know who still bothers with exactmobile. Just search for it in google and you'll find it- for free.

Posted by Tahir Ally
I know for sure there are plenty off stuff that are FREE ON VODAFONE LIVE.If its FREE its FREE.For SA Vodacom can stream anything free they sponsor.I watched Sabc 123 and some DSTV stations on 3G Vodafone live, even live streaming.Remember we will have Vodafone Live(2.5G)and 3G Vodafone Live.Only 3G will allow STREAMMING

Posted by brix25
Last year I watched CNN on a 3G phone when Vodacom in Cape Town(Century City) invited me to attend the trials... For a minute it looked nice but would hate to watch it for more than 5 minutes. If they can have short streaming video clip for news and sports highlights I think it would be good...not a whole 30 min bulletin.

Posted by Rhino8
So will vodacom live be available on 2.5g too? So voda sponsor for rugby so they night stream the rugby life and for free. Or they can, but will they? Thats the question. And what about tv licence issues. As im sure that will come up sometime.

Posted by Tahir Ally
No TV license needed. You can stream rugby or any sports via Super Sport and you can do it right now.It does have short clips. In other Vodafone countries they are streaming latest movies that are in the circut for free.Thats why i said in my previous post WAIT FOR THE SHARP 902 because it comes with the video cable that plugs in your video jack on your TV.Stream all the content on your TV.Dont have to watch it on phone. The Sharp 902 is only 3G phone that has a 2 mega pixel with an optical ZOOM and is an VODAFONE EXCLUSIVE.I like the red Ferrari one which is on the Esato site. The non Ferrari branded is comming to SA for SURE.

Posted by brix25
If the SABC finds out about this they'll come looking for their money... I you can receive a tv signal you have to pay...any signal!

Posted by Tahir Ally
NO TV LICENSE NEED BECAUSE ITS A PHONE AND ITS STREAMMING AND SABC IS AWARE OF IT

Posted by RicK700i
@ Tahir Ally.Do you where I can get streaming settings for my K700i.My phone has this streaming feature and require streaming settings but i dont know where to get it. If masseur is reading this, please help me?

Posted by Tahir Ally
I don't know any streaming address but streaiming via gprs does not work properly. The speed is to slow. Some one on Esato might know

Posted by Rhino8
Wow. No more tv licence. And no more watching shit you dont wanna see.

Posted by mario2002
On EDGE works just fine. That is if your cell supports it.

Posted by brix25
Please guys don't get your hopes up about being able to stream live tv...if there's a loophole SABC will make sure it gets shut. That means you'll pay for being able to receive a tv signal.

Posted by JK
U cant watch sabc on sabc, u can only watch live tv if u linked to a dstv decoder!! watched it to but theres some glitch somewhere coz we not allowed to watch live tv at the moment the broadcasting commission didnt allow it... and there is some stupid thing about a tv licence... not sure.

+ the u cant read anything on the small screen!

Posted by brix25
That's why I contend that viewing anything on a cellphone screen should not be for longer than 5 minutes.

Posted by Rhino8
What other services will vodacom life have? Chat? Email? News?

Posted by Tahir Ally
Vodaworld will be closed on Monday 21 March 05 for maintainance and will re open on 22 March 05.Thank you

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: Thanks for another bit of useless info. Am I the only one getting of all this unbalanced info? No matter all their marketing campaigns and hype Vodacom will have to convince their non-business subscribers to switch to 3G. And no, I don't work for either MTN or Cell C.
