Moto always had a crap operating system. Too complicated for most. Ffs, im gud at phones but it takES some time 4 me to work it out

Posted by Siosal
Admit I hate the Moto UI. Samsung's are a little better. Think SE's are the best. Get to play around with Nokia's regularly and they just aren't as intuitive as SE, even though the UI's are starting to look similar.
But you gotta admit, there's not much that's less intuitive than an alcatel OTE.
@brix: thanks for sharing the origins of your handle. Adds some insight.
My ex had a t300 when I had my T68i. Prefered mine but you can't beat minigolf. Got that on my K700 now. As well as SC3D and others.

Posted by brix25
The other day I was playing around with a friend's Nokia 7200 and the menu system was like rocket science when I was trying to send an MMS.

Posted by Siosal
My bro uses nokia after jumping into a pool with his SE.
Asked him to turn on infrared so i could transfer something from my phone to his.
Just got a blank expression, so I tried turning it on only for me to find 10 minutes later that on that particular model, infrared was in messages-extras-infrared.
What a load of bollocks.

Posted by brix25
The 7200 does look good with it's suede covers but another thing about the phone which puzzles me is the small screen...have to squint your eyes when viewing videos.

Posted by Siosal
Most nokia's have that problem. You can't even compare the 6230(?) to the k700i when it comes to that.
Rather enlarge the screen with higher quality than cram everything into a device and sacrifice the display.

Posted by Rhino8
@siosal. Whats da best game ya got? I got 70 and they all boring me.

Nokia needs to get a life and be original. Not wiv the shape but the brains of the phones.

Samsung is gr8, had an x600.

Posted by brix25
@Rhino: Did the X600 give u any software problems? Almost bought the phone but heard about it's firmware issues and cancelled my purchase.

Posted by Siosal
Got splinter cell 3D. Not bad.
Got 3D pool. Cool.
Got quite a few. Haven't played them all yet.

Posted by brix25
Seems like some of my posts are not being counted...the other day it showed I had notched up 100 posts now all of a sudden I'm back below 100. What's up with that?

Posted by Rhino8
X600 was one of the best i eva had.
Gr8 screen, not bad memory(10meg) and gud cam.

Where did u get splinter cell?

Posted by Siosal
Found it on one of the forums here. Not sure if the link still works. Let me see if i can find it.
Try this

Hope it helps.

Posted by Rhino8
Bought mine 4 1400 and sold it 4mth latr 4 1700

Posted by brix25
@Rhino: you must be one of the few people making a profit on a phone...they're like cars... cash pits.

Posted by Rhino8
@brix u cud say that i got contacts. Worked wiv phones for more than 2 yrs

Posted by brix25
Any opinions on the Panasonic X70? Saw it advertised, 2nd hand for R2000...any good value?

Posted by Rhino8
@ brix. Had sum bad experience wiv pan. Dnt knw anything bout new pans, sorry.

Posted by Siosal
Hey guys, sorry to change the subject but i can get a spare 500mAH battery from voda for about R100. What you guys think...worth it?

Posted by Rhino8
Original sony, maybe, id rather go 4 a 1100 mAH.

Posted by Siosal
Where can i get a 1100mAH in SA? SE store. Only seen 700mAH's for a hell of a price. If i see a 1100mAH one i'll get it but it'll be close to a grand in price.
Updated my firmware this weekend. Can now go through my phone book typing in each letter of the name i need. Cool.
Went to SE store in vodaworld. Wow. Beautifull stuff in there.

I hav cn 1100s bt dnt knw where to get em and @ what price

Posted by Siosal
Will keep an eye out.
@rhino8 What firmware you on? I've only been on r2l and r2ae at this point. Whats your opinion on the current firmware.
I see some noticible improvements from r2l to r2ae but not that many as i didn't find many bugs with r2l.

Posted by Rhino8
Am stil on what the phone came out with. Dnt hav time to have my sw updated.

Posted by Siosal
Actually surprised how qiuck it was. Had a day off for once and decided to get it done. Btw i found the 1100mAH battery on a german site to order for R117.41 stating
"The best, which the market has to offer - this Akku is based on the newest Akkutechnologie (lithium polymer) in the Consumerbereich. The advantage is the extremely high power density with unchanged external dimensions. The Akku does not show owing to lithium technology with frequent intermediate shop a "MEMORY effect" and no capacity losses due to it. As meaningful addition we recommend our dual loading station "Office". Never stand there more without Akkupower, Zweitakku in the dual loader load as well and with empty Akku immediately new energy - simply exchange."

A couple of weeks ago I was raving because I had my little T68i's firmware upgraded but after a couple of knocks( more like hard concrete) my baby is starting to act up again...just switching off by itself when the battery is halfway.

Still can't get messages from my girlfriend's phone so now I'm contemplating buying a "reconditioned" Nokia 5110( Teljoy) for R49 plus the starterpack...R120 which still is a bargain in any language.

This all because I love my girl very much and would like to text her at night.

Posted by Rhino8
5110 is the only nokia i will eva say this bout, its a fvckn gud phone.

Posted by brix25
When the Aussies play at Newlands next summer I can throw it at one of their fielders

Posted by Rhino8
And ya cn get it bck and re use it. Just sms me b4 ya do it. I hav ta c it.

Posted by brix25
Basically @ that price the phone is disposable. Come to think of it what ever happened to the idea of disposable mobile phones? Sure needs one when you're one that constantly loses the little buggers in bars and clubs.

Posted by Rhino8
Ya, seems as if that hav ended. Maybe its to expensive to make disposable phones

Posted by brix25
Disposable phones would be good for travellers...just for instance you're in a country with widespread CDMA coverage you could buy a phone on arrival at the airport and use it perhaps for 2 weeks...afterwhich you can dispose of it...they could make it from bio-degradable plastics.

Posted by OluYom
Yes, I heard of those disposable phones sometime ago too, but no news lately. Maybe its not so cost-effective for the manufacturers.

Posted by Rhino8
There was a Rumour that the shell will b made frm cardboard, and if ur airtime runs out, u discard the phone.

Wud b gud if ya need to send ya phone to b fixed 2

Posted by Siosal
Anybody here use fma?

Posted by Rhino8
Whats that meen :-[

Posted by brix25
Dunno anything about FMA but I think it's some app you'd use with your Java-enabled phone. I'm still interested in cardboard phones.

Posted by scotsboyuk
I shall be in South Africa in just under 12 hours, assuming there are no further delays.

Posted by Rhino8
Welcome then. What places u goin to visit?

@brix i cnt think y they havnt done it yet. U dnt need a screen, normal non chargeble batt, with diff amounts of airtime for diff type of user.

Posted by brix25
@scotty: if you're in Cape Town give me a shout on the email. Maybe you can join me and some buddies @ the rugby on Friday @ Newlands...Super 12... Stormers Vs The Sharks.... I'm shouting for the Stormers.

Posted by Rhino8
The sharks will kick ass then.

Fma, is "floats mobile agent" and is pc software designed for just about every SE phone. All the way back yo the t68i. No java required.
Speaking of the t68i, brix25, you're making me nostalgic and now I'm missing my old phone...
What the hell am i gonna do with it, i don't know, but now i miss it.

Posted by brix25
@Siosal: Thanks for the compliment... I actually bought the phone brand new from a dealer in Cape Town. How does FMA work with my phone?

Posted by RicK700i
@ scotsboyuk, what you gonna do here in South Africa? I'm a ACT Brumbies fan for the Super 12. Brumbies the reigning champs vs Crusaders on Sat.

'lo all,

Just wondering if anyone here has enquired as to when we can expect to see the Z800i here in South Africa?

Maybe we will even see the V800i first, since Vodacom is tied in with Vodafone for their 3G launch.

This really looks to be a awsome 3G handset, and I'm sure it will be priced accordingly, but well worth it...

Thanks

Posted by HyperiaBlue
Best thing to do is is call directly and ask when they expect the Z800 to arrive in SA. The phone has not been released yet, however it is due to be released in March.

I would say give it 6 months.

Posted by CodeMaster
Thanks HB, will give them a call. But I can't see it taking 6 months since it is based on a phone that is already released (V800i). The V800 is listed on http://www.threeg.co.za/3gphones.php?menuid=38 as "coming soon", so I think we may see the V800 before the Z800.

@brix25 just download fma from fma.sourceforge.net and install.
Connect your phone to your pc using cable , bluetooth, or infrared.
From there you should be able to see your phone's folders, battery life, signal strength etc.
You can read your sms's from the program. Should you recieve an sms while in the program or at least having it open, the sms will pop up on your screen and you can read and reply right from there.(Typing sms' on your keyboard...cool)
Questions...?

Posted by Rhino8
Cool. Am goin tm try 2moz
