Can't believe how unimpressed I was with that iPhone 4S.Took me quite by surprise actually. Was kinda bored after a couple minutes.Didn't see that coming.I can tick the iPhone off my list for now.
Next on my list is getting my hands on a Nokia Lumia phone to see what all the fuss is about.Kinda interested to see this WM in action.
But for now its Android all the way babbbbbyyyy! Bring on the ICS!!!!!

I've just seen a pic of a pink Note! That's a lot of pink......

Hey guys, hope everyone is still good. Sorry for being M.I.A for the better part of a year. But here's an update:

Phone-wise, I can't remember the last time I used an handset...colleague at work has got one of the newer Xperia handsets...quite nifty and smart. Personally I prefer Galaxy S-range...will probably upgrade to latest Samsung when my contract comes up for renewal around June.

My Galaxy S is rooted n' booted...just the way I like it but getting the latest version of CynogenMod to work seems like rocket science...if anyone in Cape Town is capable of this delicate surgery, lemme know...I always have the feeling that I'm missing out one some of the Android goodness.

Other than the Galaxy S, the other gadget which absolutely makes life worth living is Apple iPad2...had the option of going the Galaxy Tab route earlier last year but Android's pathetic battery life and the dearth of apps put me off and I ran into the arms of Steve Jobs even though I thought iTunes was the crappiest software ever invented and Apple products were over-priced. Thus far the iPad has proven itself a reliable, fast and effective tool for this roadwarrior, especially with an 8ta sim.

If any of you guys are on twitter, follow me @mtyala

Hope you're well Brix, great to know we have one more Galaxy S user here
Personaly havent done any modding to my gs2, other than flashing an unbranded 2.3.6 FW and rooting.

Couldnt agree more about Android tablets, ive had a Galaxy Tab10.1 since middle of last year, and although great for web browsing and movies, most Android apps arent optimized for it, although thats slowly changing and shouldn't be an issue once most get ICS, for now its looking rather...dry.

Hi Brix.Long time no hear.A Galaxy S and an iPad 2.Nice combo.Don't be a stranger.

We do our best

Hey everyone.

I'm off to the US in a couple of weeks for just under a month...will mostly be staying in an around the East Coast, including Florida checking up on what they're doing in terms of journalism, ethics and the use of technology in news rooms. Hopefully I should come back with a lot of information to share with friends and colleague.

Right now browsing at all the GSM providers, looking at data-only plans for the iPad. Will likely pick up a disposable, el cheapo phone when I get to the Washington DC which is my first port of call.

EDIT: Just noticed that some of the threads, which had been quite active before, haven't been updated in months...The Slovak Forum for one.

What's happened to Esato?

Posted by *Jojo*
@ama - OK, I will bro. Thanks. Enjoy the . . ride

Posted by *Jojo*
@ama: just browsed at the - page . . I did not see any "Ducati" bikes there FULL of "Terminator" type bikes that are posted there, bro. I was expecting a Ducati in RED one, matey

Posted by brix25
Damn, JoJo is still around! How's Bagiuo?

Posted by Hobbs
Amawanga Can't wait to see the snaps you take on your new Nokia 808 PureView.

Posted by *Jojo*
@brix - Hello dude. Just making an intermittent visit here coz I heard about: Masseur's health from a fellow Esatonian at FaceBook . Haven't been to Baguio for the last 3-4 years matey. I hope all is well with you

Posted by amawanqa
@ brixster,
Good to see you in these parts again.

@ Jojo,
My Ducati is matt black, not the usual red . Here's a pic of it:

@ Hobbster,
Ya I can't see myself putting up with this 5800's naff cam for much longer. Hopefully the 808 PureView hit the shelves within the next couple of months..

Posted by *Jojo*
@ama - WOWOWEEEEEEEEE . . super nice ! twin exhaust pipes

Posted by Hobbs
Super nice indeed Wang's.How fast where you flying through that countryside before you stopped to take that pic?
Sadly a friend of the family died recently while going up to a bike show.Hit a bakkie side on and died instantly, broken neck.Superbike accidents are usually fatal because of the speeds these monsters can exceed.Luckily for him though he didn't suffer.
But Wang's is a teacher so he only goes 80.Even on the country roads lol

5800 hasn't been a worthy replacement camwise for the P1.
[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2012-02-29 04:17 ]

Posted by amawanqa
LOL, not too fast yet Hobbster, as I'm still running the engine in.
Pic wasn't taken with a cellphone; I used a Nikon 9100 compact camera.

Ya, you're absolutely right, the 5800's cam hasn't been a worthy replacement for the P1i's.

Hello Hello . . . good morning from - Manila

Posted by tranced
@amawanqa: was that your gift from the wife?

Posted by amawanqa
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagandang umaga, Jojo!

@ tranced:

Yes, my wife bought the bike for my 40th birthday. As much as I love and miss SA, we wouldn't have been able to afford it and all the other luxuries if we were still teachers in a typical state school in SA. We have very good jobs here, which makes it possible, but one day we would love to permanently return to SA. It's an old saying, but there's no place like 'home'.

Posted by tranced
I know what it is like. It's the same situation in here.

Posted by Hobbs
Hey Jojo from Manila.Hows life?

Wangs Thats a cool 40th birthday pressie .Has Miss Wanga turned 40 yet?
[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2012-03-02 09:28 ]

Nay boet, she's 32.

Posted by tranced
40-32=8

How are you all?

Posted by Hobbs
Wangs Just asked because I was wondering what pressie you were going to get her for her 40th.Still got lots of time to save up for something BIG.Miss Wanga, tell me if I'm on to something here.

Would look smashing next to the Ducati.

Posted by amawanqa
Sure would, H.
Ya, methinks I'd better start saving, LOL. Nice pic BTW.

@ Jojo:

Maaaaaaaaaagandang gabi!

Happy Weekend to all

Posted by amawanqa
Hope you're having a good weekend too, Jojo.
What you having for breakfast..? Tapsilog?

BTW, what phone are you using at the moment?

Posted by *Jojo*
@amawanqa - Bwahahahahaha - did not know that you will mention: Tapsilog for breakfast, dude I'm using a Nokia E72 (Topaz Brown) right now, just sold my HTC Wildfire S and Nokia c-601 last month. I am into collecting of: CASIO G-Shock watches during the past months and am planning to get me some models - soon (will be needing the funds, that's why my 2 fones was auctioned). How about you? What fone are you using now? HAPPY SUNDAe to ALL

Posted by Hobbs
Garlic-fried rice and fried egg, with beef. Is that correct?

Posted by amawanqa
Ya the beef (tapa) jerky being kinda like our biltong, but then fried (I think). I'm sure Jojo will verify.

Posted by Hobbs
Jojo

Casio G-Shock GW-200Z-1DR

R5500 (31,222.36 PHP)

Are you gonna get one of these?

Posted by *Jojo*
@Ama - He he he . . . really great of you to know some of the foods we eat at my end .

@Hobbs - Yup, nice breakfast. Casio Frogman is one of the most expensive rubber-strapped out in the market, though I can get me a brand new for just around US$ 350.00 - online. Of course it's more expensive if you are to buy it in Casio Shops (authorized dealer). I am not much into - swimming, Frogman are for diver's, it is equipped with computer data-log that's why it's expensive.

G O O D M O N D A Y M O R N I N G

Posted by amawanqa
So the iPad 3 is launched, with some expected improvements. Still can't see myself with one of these.. My boss at work uses his iPad 2 heavily though.

Maaaagandang umaga, Jojo. How many Casio G-Shocks have you got, matey?
