Just found out about a movie called Safe House with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, best part is that it was shot in Cape Town. And Denzel is wearing the SAPS uniform http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IfQY4fNcnw&feature=feedu

Thanks gola!

Just watched the clips and it is indeed weird seeing the SAPS uniform on these Hollywood movies. I am reminded of another movie of Steven Seagal shot in the Mothercity where they had a couple of SAPS officers.

Anyway, it's good that Denzel is a baddie in that movie, I've already seen too many movies where he is the good guy. He remains my all-time favourite actor, he is an brilliant actor!

No thanks. I am sticking with dual-core phones for now until there is a reason for a quad-core one.

As they say, sometimes change is good. If you feel you are not getting what you want from Android then do try the iPhone. You never know, maybe that is where you will find what you are yearning for.

By the way, what happened with your 3GS?

Posted by Hobbs
Dups I sold the iPhone 3G long time ago.It was the easiest phone to sell and I back got pretty much back what I paid for it.

I don't know why I'm even talking about these phones anyway when its only gonna matter for me in 5 months time.Gonna zip it I think for the time being.

Hope everyone is good!

Im impatiently waiting for the Sensation XE to arrive, on the other hand friends are pressuring me to get one of the new BBs and i just cant bring myself to wanting any of them lol.

Android realy is the OS for me, it satisfys my Social side very well, handles media brilliantly and all this whilst also feeding my geeky side and looking good doing it ,with webOS and Meego kind of dead i just cant imagine leaving Android, especialy for a BB.

Hobbs

Hopefuly the iPhone5 will be to your liking, there are days when im a bit bored of Android, but i run straight back to it after trying a Symbian, BB and iPhone, all 3 dont feel as complete to me as Android.

Tsepz

I know what you mean. There are good days and bad days with the X10 (Android). Sometimes it just feels like its not doing things fast enough or some days it just doesn't quite look right.I'm back on Z's CM 7.1.The speed and smoothness of his rom is essential for me to stay with this X10.

When is the Sensation XE arriving?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thats good, as long as its fast enough for you, the lag can be annoying sometimes. What ive recently noticed is how slow the camera is at launching, its quite embarrassing as it is a 1GHz phone.

According to HTC it should be here by Q1, hopefuly its here early like mid December, read the GSMArena review and im amazed by HTC Sense3.0 and the look of the phone.

My X10 battery seems to be expanding at the bottom, ive never had that happen on a SE phone, and when charging it gets up to 87% then it heats up, i unplug and plug it back in and then it goes to 100%, it still holds its charge well though, get 1.5days of average use still although it will sometimes turn off when it gets to 15% but i'll be able to turn it on, the battery has had it seems.

Posted by Bonovox
I have a spare unused x10 battery and battery cover if you want it for free?? I had spares never used as you know never had x10 for long enough

Posted by Tsepz_GP
PM for you Bono

Posted by Tsepz_GP
true that, its going to feel brand new with that new cover.

Posted by Bonovox
Well,I don't need it & never used it. And I have given away a couple of free things on Esato before. Postage won't cost much

ive found my joy using android again.
enter the ąpp LCD Resolution (can be found on the market.phone must
be rooted.)
changed my screen resolution from default 240 to the marker 170 and it
looks fantastic.
thank goodness something to make me see the light again.
my x10 rocks again!

Awesome, cant wait to take delivery, Xmas has come a month early!

Hobbs

Now that im getting a new batt and cover i may just give up that Dec upgrade, to be honest its driving me up the wall, especialy with that upcoming quad-core HTC, SE Nozomi with HD1080p display, new Mali GPU, new Tegra CPUs etc...let me not repeat the mistake i made with the K850 and take whatever i can get, rather wait til mid next year and get a complete upgrade, lets see what MWC2012 brings

tsepz

heres an example of how much more you can fit on the screen.
the about screen in settings.everything fits on the screen without any scrolling needed.
compare this screenshot with what you have now and you will see this apps potential.it can still go down another 50 to 120.ive got it on 170.

i would wait.you are going to kick yourself when you're sitting with a sensation and the galaxy sIII or the new iphone 5 or the quad core htc ect hit the market next year.

5 months will fly past.

sit tight with me.

Ive just tried that app, very nice, 170 does seem to be the sweet spot especialy in the lockscreen, only issue is that the icons in the notificatin bar end up overlapping each other, hopefuly thats fixed in future updates of the app, otherwise realy nice.

i think i will, Androids realy are made for people with 12month contracts, this would've been so much easier if i was on one of those instead of 24months. Think it will be better to get a droid with ICS already in it to.
[ This Message was edited by: Tsepz_GP on 2011-11-10 22:22 ]

Posted by Hobbs
yep the notification bar does start looking a bit messy.it does eventually clear so im sticking with 170 because it suits the tahoma font.
not bothered with the lockscreen been kinda chopped in half.it still functions properly.
good app.i like.

Package sent to Tsepz_GP via signed for delivery with new battery and battery cover for x10 for free. Enjoy your long lasting x10. And it's definately unused as when I last had x10 it was second hand but I sold it before the new battery and cover came Nothing new there eh??

Posted by Tsepz_GP
you had quite a love/hate thing with the X10 Bono, you bought it and sold it a few times.

Hobbster,
I ended up settling for an Apple Mac. Sayonara, Windows.
Bought it today and have just done a huge update. Still trying to find where everything is and how everything works, but I'm getting there.

Of course I'll miss some features of Windows, but right now I'm enjoying this whole new operating system adventure.

Congrats Wanqs!
Im also sick of Windows, when my laptop finaly KOs i may do the same.

Posted by amawanqa
Thanks, Tsepz. Yeah I'm still faffing with it at the moment.
I'm not the world's biggest iTunes fan (although you can't really compare the dumbed-down version of iTunes for PC), so I'm checking out various Mac media players. VLC for Mac plays just about anything, although it's very bland IMHO. Pity no WinAmp, although it's apparently in beta phase..)
I'm using the new 'Lion' version of OS X and it'll take a while to 'think in Mac' and somehow get out of Windows' methodology when using it, after 20-odd years of constant PC...

Hey Hobbster,
I hope you never had tickets for the cricket this weekend, boet.. game, set and match in 3 utterly surreal days of test cricket! What an incredible test match!

thankfully not.that cricket was absolutely amazing.its always nice to see the aussies totally out played.amla and smith were devastating.
day 2 was insane.wickets tumbling all over the place.

congratulations on the apple mac.they are awesome and if they were'nt so pricey i'd most probably be sitting with one myself.
here is a link to the za store (everything apple).check out those prices for macs.
how do they compare over there.
what model did you get?

Thanks H.
The one I got is nothing mind-blowing; it's the Mac Mini (I'm thus using my monitor and peripherals from my PC at the mo), similar to the one I bought the better half a year or so ago. Uses the Intel i5 processor, 500GB HD etc. Not terabyte territory like Windows 7 offerings for the same money, but enough for me and I have an external HD if necessary.
Macs are a lot less RAM hungry than Windows and it's amazing how such a small 'base unit' doesn't generate heat like small-form PC's and laptops. It's absolutely quiet as well.
Gotta say that I do miss the folder functions that Windows offers. It's only Day 2 of life with Mac for me, and therefore it seems that a lot isn't as intuitive as Windows, but that's maybe more me getting my thick head around the OS. I'll keep bugging the mrs when I get 'stuck'..

Another bummer with the 2011 Mac Mini models: no integrated CD/DVD drive, so I bought an external Samsung Blu-Ray Reader-DVD Reader/Writer to go with it. I was a bit miffed with this move by Apple; maybe it's a move to get people to rely more on iCloud. Saak that. The wife's Mac Mini (2010 model) has one integrated, so I doubt it's a space issue. But hey, what do I know, LOL. I'll run a HDMI cable from the Mac to the TV soon. Oh yeah, yet another thing, Apple don't readily support Blu-Ray, so I had to google and download a program to make things work for Mac.

Price-wise, the Mac Mini prices aren't too different to what you pay in SA, judging from that website. Apple do standardise prices strictly here, so there's no negotiating or fluctuating of prices here on Apple products as such. If there is, it's pretty marginal and it looks to be similar there. Need to check some of those laptop prices though; some of those Macbook prices look like more than marginal in difference...

I like Windows 7 as well and both operating systems offer so much, but right now I'm looking forward to emerging myself in Lion OS X.

i5 is pretty good.
how much ram?
2gb?
im sure you'll know your way around by the end of the weekend.
have fun setting it up.

Posted by Hobbs
just started up operamini and it seems to have updated itself.its very different.all the menus are now at the top.faster and more fluid.has yours also updated tsepz to 6.5.27049?

Posted by amawanqa
You're right, Hobbster. 2GB of RAM, which (for Mac) is sufficient. It can be expanded to a max of 4GB though, if need be. Dunno if I'll have my head around it all by the end of this weekend, in fact I reckon it'll take me a good while longer to really get to know the system properly, but one day at a time.

wangs

keep us posted on your experience with using your new Mac.
i take it the mrs has been using one for a while now?

my x10 screen suddenly feels huge using lcd resolution.got the resolution on 150 and have hidden the notification bar because of the overlapping when resolution set too low.loving it.

my little doggy shoda had to have a second operation on her leg to fix a tendon.has to wear this so she cant get to the stitches.the foam ring is just for comfort when she lies down.

Posted by amawanqa
Dang Hobbster. Can Shoda pick up satellite transmissions with that dish?
Seriously though, hopefully the stitches will heal up soon.

WRT the Mac, ya I've been pestering the better half with how to do this n' that on this OS. Mac can run Windows on it as well, so I might install it if needed and it's easy enough to switch between the 2 OS's on a Mac. We'll see.

Posted by Hobbs
wangs she removed 3 stitches 2 days after the op and the wound opened when she just had the foam collar on.It was to small and shes quite agile so she managed to twist and get to them.that why we had to get the satellite dish.shes only 1 and a bit now so shes healing fast.cant wait to get her back in the mountains or on the beach.

Congrats on the Mac boet

Only good times await you now...

Tsepz

What ever you do, do not get a BB, there's absolutely no BB worth getting, they have nothing going for them except BBM.

I freaken hate BB. As things stand, I'm still pretty much in love with the Arc and seems like it might be the last worthy SE phone. Can't wait to see what Sony has in store though...

Oh, and yes, get the mac bro!

Hobbs

Wishing your doggy a speedy recovery.

Looking at the picture reminds me of a dog movie I watched the other day, "Hachiko", pretty cool movie about the true story of a super loyal dog.

Yep, i noticed new shortcuts and the Zoopy box, lol, 1st thing i did was shake my head, Androids are weird devices they literaly do their own thing, multiple times ive caught GMaps updating itself, got an email yday that Latitude was tracking my location without me having touched it and i see Android Market got a little update to makes me wonder what more is happening that i havent picked up on.

Gola

Same bro, i hate them, awful little overpriced and outdated things, but its tempting to get one just for BBM, wont waste my contract upgrade on them though.
Awesome, think il also get a Mac next time, maybe mid next year, i only use my laptop for uni assignments and back up so im not in a rush to replace it, but wow, Windows is a b*$ch to work with sometimes, the few times i use my laptop i dread using Windows.

All
So my mates Camaro has arrived, absolute beaut of a thing, the wheels standard are 20inch, and it drives well, handles corners well for a muscle car, and sounds amazing, its having some transmission issues though so we taking it back tomorrow, its attracted a lot of attention where ever we go, it just sticks out so well, and theres no ignoring its size, its around the same size as a Jag XF despite being 2-door, what a machine though, heres a pic i took this morning:

@Tsepz_GP isn't that Android Market Auto Update for Apps?? You can turn that off in Market settings.
