Thanx Rob,will definitely try it man so I can enjoy this.baby to the fullest

Posted by Hobbs
Jmash Congrats on the X10.If you are interested in an alternative for Android 2.2.1 then try out the FreeX10 Beta 4.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900441

They are both good.It just comes down to personal preference.Do you like clean and basic or layered and themed.

Let us know if you get stuck anywhere so we can assist.

bit thinner than the X10:

Posted by jmash
He Hobbs thanx bro, will check that out on Monday when I get back to work.Yo Tsepz that'd some monster android baby right there bro.How are you guys finding your X10s,any good apps you can recommend...

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Congrats on your X10 Jmash!
I'm absolutely loving mine especialy with Wolfbreak's 2.2 Froyo Custom ROM (the one Rob linked you to), it just flys and is very reliable.

I'd highly recommend Dolphin HD web browser, it has a whole lot of sweet plug-ins and is smoother than the built-in browser.
QQPlayer for playing vids of all formats
Aldiko or Kindle for ebook reading, both are good.
EasyTether to use your X10 as an HSDPA modem
Netcounter to keep track of your data useage (very important as you know with Android)
Opera Mobile, pretty good browser
ADW launcher and LauncherPro, both awesome launchers, im currently using ADW and very happy with it. Hope that helps.

wazzup xse.

Wow Tsepz That tablet looks really cool.Honeycomb looks sweet.Lucky bugger.Ive got a contract thats due.Ends on June 30th.Whats the cheapest on contract you can get that tablet for? lol

Jmash You cant go wrong with either of those 2.2.1 roms. They both are fast.I just keep them both on my SD card and change between them every now and again with xRecovery.

PDANet-I use this to tether.Get your version 300 from the site that starts with 'I' for full browsing experience. The free app doesnt allow https sites.
PowerAmp-Music player with equalizer and full screen widget.Very nice.
Operamini-As a alternative to Browser. You have a massive choice here.Dolphin HD,Firefox,Opera Browser ect Download the lot and see which one you fancy.I just use Browser and Operamini.
ASTRO-Good file manager.
TypeFresh-If you like changing your system fonts.(needs AndExplorer file manager if you gonna use it)
Just Pictures-Alternative to your Gallery app for viewing photos.

Will add more later.

Howzit Doellied2

Hope you having a bril weekend as well Wangs.Lighting up a fire tonight?

Thinking about it Tsepz,Ive got a kickass PC,a nice little HP Mini 210 netbook,a cool Android phone, getting a Android tablet or tablet would just be insane.lol Technology is ruining our species man.lol

Posted by amawanqa
Nah boet, we usually just braai on Saturday nights and for once I didn't take any pics with the P1i, as I forgot to charge the thing, LOL. Dang, had to go to the shop to buy a few things after I braaied and then forgot that I must've still be having a strong fragrance of 'You're the Khaya' from the braai smoke..

Posted by Hobbs
Speedtest Tsepz? What connection speeds are you getting on that baby.

Posted by Hobbs
Dont you just wish all those XDA X10 developers would just form a alliance and release a uber Gingerbread ROM contributed by everyone.I hate the XDA Development thread, its just so messy with all these different ROMS that are half baked and still in development. And once they have created an uber fully working Gingerbread ROM then each developer could alter it with his own signature, how it looks ect

I think Im just getting impatient now lol Thought they would bypass the bootloader and everything would be all roses. It aint so.

Thanks Wanqs
Hobbs
I got it on a MyMeg500 (R399pm) with 600mb data per month, didnt look at other deals only saw another at R449pm.
Yep, you realy try see where a tablet will fit in there, im glad my mom will use it as well (although she realy wants an iPad2) as i doubt i'll be on it as much as i am on the X10.

Will try speedtest ASAP, doubt it will be that great as Vodacom's net in my area realy has gone down the toilet, ive been on them about it for over a month now, i got a sms from them a few days ago saying they are still working on the issue so internet on the tablet hasn't been as smooth as i'd like it to be, hopefuly its sorted when i finish exams.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz R399 /month.No,I'll give it a miss and let this contract go.Then I'll be down to one contract only.First time in a long while.X10 all the way baby till June 2012.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz Trying out Wolfbreaks 2.2.1 ROM again. When you attached a photo to a contact does it come out blurry at the top of your screen when you check out that contact details.Does on mine.Hope it can be fixed.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Yep, mine is blurry to, never noticed that, its blurry and zoomed in too much.

Posted by Hobbs
At least I know its just not mine.If you find a fix let me know.

Posted by jmash
Ok guys, got the files now and I'm a lil confused here,do I do it on the phone itself or a pc?How axatly do I apply the files.I got the files from the link Rob directed me to

Posted by Hobbs
Jmash Its all done straight on the phone.
The most important tool you need is xRecovery (link below)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571

Download the xRecovery 0.3-release on that page and install it on your phone.(your phone must be rooted and Busybox from the Market must be installed)

Move the zip files you downloaded (from Robs link) straight onto your SD card. They should be:
CM 6.1.3 [v006].zip for Baseband 54/55/58
CM 6.1.3 Hotfix for V006

and New Market (only to be done later)

Reboot phone and when the Sony Ericsson logo appears on the screen continously press the back hardware key until you load up into xRecovery.

This is how xRecovery looks.

Follow the instructions for a fresh install from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264
(Install the CM 6.1.3 Hotfix for 006 after installing CM 6.1.3[v006])

(It will all make sense once you have xRecovery up on your screen. In xRecovery your Back hardware key takes you back a menu, your volume hardware keys moves up and down the menu and the Home hardware key is the OK button.)

Reboot phone. It will start up without network and then reboot itself.Just leave it until it settles with a network signal.

When everything is up and running, run the Market app on your phone.Once you enter the market after giving all your details reboot the phone and start up again in xRecovery. You should have another zip file you downloaded (from Robs link) and put on your SD card called New Market.Choose Install Custom Zip in xRecovery and install the New Market.

Reboot phone and everything should be good to go.

Not very good at giving instruction Jmash but I hope that helps a bit.Let me know if you get stuck anywhere.

Shit Tsepz The ZOOM has just been overclocked to 1.6ghz and scores a benchmark of 4500.My 1350-1500 aint looking so good anymore lol

Posted by Hobbs
Tablets are becoming quite popular.Saw 6 people this morning sitting at the Mugg & Bean eating breakfast/drinking coffee playing on their tablets.Pretty cool.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Oh crap, i totaly forgot about Quadrant! Will run it once the tab is charged up. Yep tablets are becoming very popular, have you noticed on how many shows the iPad appears in? Carte Blanche, Maggs on Media, CNN, i think eNews to? The Doctors etc... And then every cafe and restaurant (Mugg&Bean, Tasha's etc...) there's some corporate dude on one this tgng is not going out the house, my X10 is the only gadget i need when i leave the house.

A few more pics

One of the best things is Android Market on Honeycomb, its UI looks and works better than on the phones, obviously thanks to the screen real estate, it has got me thinking that Android realy was made for tablets more than smartphones, kind of like Maemo, as it realy shines on a huge hi res display:

And playing Angry Birds on this is just awesome

Havent had that much time to fiddle though, i write my 1st exam this SATURDAY so its spent more time lying on my desk.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz Good luck with your exam on Saturday.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanks Hobbs! Its the 1st time im not completely looking forward to a saturday.

Posted by Hobbs
There is some nice competitions in this months Vodacom magazine.Ive entered for the two big ones. The Arc and the HTC Sensation. Also a couple for that 7" Samsung Tab.Wouldnt it be something winning those big two.Yeah!

Posted by Hobbs
How did the exam go Tsepz?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Fingers crossed for you Hobbs!

Exam wasn't bad, just required a hell of a lot of writing, came out absolutely menatly drained.

Posted by amawanqa
Glad that it seems to have gone well, Tsepz.

@ Hobbster:
Some keewwl prizes to be won there; good luck.

Nokia 5800 pics taken by the famous Niagara Falls last month: The Falls in these first pics are called the Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side:

These were taken with the P1i..unfortunately I somehow had the pics size setting on VGA!: Check that water out..and weird colours from the cam in the mist.. :

These, taken with the 5800, are of the American Falls, and yup, that's the United States of America on the other side. On the far left in the first pic is one of the border-crossing bridges. Note the ice in the water:

Ran it again just now and got 2298

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Forget 2298 it just hit 2315, from there on it dropped, but it had done the same after getting 2160. During the test i see it sometimes reachs 61FPS

@Wang's nice photos mate.i wouldnt mind trying our those marmite oven baked cashews.delicious.marmite on toast.you got to have that at least once a day.

Posted by jmash
@Wanqa I see you've mastered the p1 camera bro.Every pic you take with that phone looks really good.Howz everybody doing in Wanqadom? As for me I'm loving my X10.

Posted by Hobbs
Glad to hear Jmash. Its a mighty fine phone with Gingerbread on the way hopefully at end of this month.

Posted by amawanqa
Howzit jmash.
Thanks boet; the P1i still as reliable as ever. Life in Wanqadom is good but hectic; 8 weeks of manic work before we close for the Summer Holidays and then it's a month in Souf Efrika again! Spending 3 weeks in East London and surrounding areas and 1 week with friends in Jozi. Can't wait.

Just got back from the Isle of Man, where the annual TT races are happening at the mo. What a jol.

Some P1i pics and Nokia 5800 pics taken there:

Nokia 5800 pics taken at Douglas's airport:

Flying first aid behind the start-finish:

b&w P1i pic:

Taken at Douglas's airport as well, the distinctive Manx Loaghtan goat model, based on the indigenous 4-horned goats (also on Slipknot's second album cover, called Iowa) found on the Isle of Man, resembled in the other famous Isle of Man symbol..the TT races:

Im undecided, luckily im not the only one who uses the tab, my mother uses it a lot for news, ebooks and here GMail -Contacts, Calender and Mail. I just use it for browsing and games otherwise i simply prefer my X10, dont get me wrong the Tab is awesome but when it comes to ergonomics and the ease of use i prefer my X10, being able to do everything one handed on a light weight device. After a few hours of use it gets a bit much to hold and use. Great device, but i prefer my X10 for most things.
This time next year is going to be awesome for us trying to choose which dual or quad-core to get, cant wait for Ice Cream Sandwich to be demoed later this year so we know what we're in for.

Jmash
Thats great to hear, loving my X10 to, and strangely not that interested many of the dual-cores around, except for Galaxy S II due to its specs but what a bland design.

Wanqs
Some awesome pics there! Between the 5800 and P1 which do you prefer for pic taking? That P1 seems to be better, its pics looks a lot more natural.

Posted by Hobbs
@Tsepz August I'm gonna have some spare cash to blow on a tablet but I'm also undecided if I actually want one.Was gobsmacked to see on MyBroadband that the iPad 2 is the cheapest tab of the lot here in South Africa.R5200.Couldn't believe my eyes. Will see closer to the time but I'm thinking don't get one.Any of the tablets. But if I do its iPad2 vs Samsung (the one you have) and the Blackberry Playbook release in July by Vodacom.Haven't heard any news of the Motorola Zoom in SA.For R5200 I think I'll choose that iPad2.The Sammie tab is R7000+.
By the way this CM7.0.3 is well worth trying.Been using it for a good couple of days now without one problem. Its as smooth as hell.Takes the edge off waiting and also realizing that what you waiting for isn't that much of a change from Froyo.I expected more but I'm not complaining at all.My battery life is unnervingly brilliant, and its faster than Froyo.I'm loving it.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Wow! So glad i didnt get the Desire now: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_d[....]d_to_gingerbread-news-2779.php didnt see that one coming at all.

Hobbs
Yep, for once the Apple device is the most reasonably priced
What i dont like about the iPad is that it has no widgets nor Flash in the web browser whilest on the Honeycomb tablets we have scrollable widgets and latest Flash Player, which makes them great for web browsing, watched Engadgets HTC Sensation review on the tab thanks to flash.

Think im going to wait for the official gingerbread, its (apparently) just 5days away, according to some at XDA, SE finished making it and are now preparing the kits for rollout. so much of excitement!

Posted by doellied2
That sounds great man rock on.

Posted by Hobbs
That is fantastic news indeed Tsepz.I cant wait to be rid of this stock 2.1.It sucks balls. Tick Tock! Cant wait.Woohoo! Gingerbread till June 2012.Who would have thought.

Posted by Hobbs
Hope everyone has a good day off work today.Im unfortunitely working but thats ok,last month we had enough days off.
