XDA update Tsepz
Geohot responded saying hes heard about X10 bootloader problem and will go buy one and see what he can do.
Some guy responds saying he has an upgrade and will donate he's phone to Geohot.
Geohot responds saying he's already bought one.
This might all just be pie in the sky but if its not and is indeed true we are in for exciting times.
Crack that bootloader biatch! Mr Hotz lol

Just got back from Bologna, the home of Ducati Motorcycles and er...spaghetti bolognese, LOL. Yup, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had both the P1i and 5800 with me, and used both to take these pics:

Bologna's famous Two Towers. It was 498 steps to reach the top of the taller one...check how much the smaller one is listing! (Forget the Leaning Tower of Pisa,LOL). The views over Bologna from the top made all the climbing worthwhile (pics all taken with the 5800):

I then Bluetoothed some of the 5800 pics to the P1i, then solarized the sepia pics:

More 5800 sepia pics taken around Bologna:

As regards the first two...er... well how typically Italian when it comes to human anatomy sculptures... Neptune must be getting bloody cold up there, LOL:

Macro mode:

A really, really crap quality pic, but I enjoyed the play on words of this restaurant:

Some of the elongated, concertina-type buses were electric powered, as you can see by the overhead cables:

The Motorola Xoom tablet looks pretty cool.Motorola are seriously back in the business.

Posted by amawanqa
Sigh Hobbster, only a day after it's launched and already Moto's been sued over the Xoom name... :

Thats just ridulous Wangs.Lets hope nothing comes of it. History shows that at one point in time Motorola were sitting in the No 2 position and on course to become No 1.That never happened. Now after many years of struggling they are back in the game (thanks to Android) and pushing out some awesome products. They need to start making some serious cash now (been sued does not help the cause) to return back to the top of the ladder.Ive always been a fan of Moto.Glad they never sunk and dug themselves out of that hole.Keep the goodies coming Moto.

Well im now back to the latest 2.1 update from SE, the Froyo custom ROMs were great but their incomplete Camera/Camcoder implementation and other minor annoyances drove me away. Video recording with Video Illusion was a straight up joke and the camera quality wasn't great, made me realise how much i took SE's Camera/camcoder for granted, i also missed Mediascape's music organisation a lot, not to mention SE's touches e.g. the dark blue/black UI, their fonts and just how crisp and complete their UI looks, im going to wait for Trip at XDA to compakete the 2.3 Arc port for X10 then i'll load that ROM, i just cant go back to clean Android there's a certain charm about SE's UI, more than happy with it after playing with stock Froyo and MIUI

Hey guys i've been wondering if u guys ar FBT'ing on yr smartphones such as X10,infact all of these phones ur discussing about...does it not matters to buy airtime or data bundles or to b on contract in order to surf the net n download on yr phones?

Posted by Salyani786
i was told its really expensive to browse on these smart fones, one of my friends had a htc HD2 and it was litterely flushin his airtime!!

Posted by Tsepz_GP
I do 95% of my web browsing, Twitter, FB and downloading with the built-in web browser of my X10, im on a TopUp500 contract and with part of the R500 airtime i buy a 2.3GB data bundle, it's all realy down to how much data you use monthly, IMO, its best you buy a data bundle that suits your useage best.

Wow Tsepz.Im shocked.Back to SE 2.1.I can understand the camera/camcorder reason but missing Mediascape. No way man.lol Only jokes. If it satisfies you,who am I to say otherwise.Other niggles? Like what? Ive got this FreeX10 ROM nicely settled now and its flying. You couldnt pry me away from this Zhidzu ROM.Its perfect for me just the way it is now in Beta 3.Done some minor habitual changes and get great battery life.Sorry the Froyo ROMS didnt work out for you.Didnt you only try the one out though ? I aint waiting on Tripravers work.Dont like the energy surrounding that mans work.Rush jobs.Releasing work way before its ready for us to play with.He should rename himself TripRacer.Eagerly awaiting a stable Jerpelea Gingerbread but if it doesnt come I have my FreeX10 lol

I use my phone quite alot as well for web browsing,Facebooking ect (tethered and untethered). Im on a Topup 315 and R289 of that gets me a 1.2 GB data bundle which easily last me for the month.

I tried Cyanogen007 with MIUI and FreeX10 Beta3, both were excellent, other annoyances were with the built-in Web browser chowing through my battery, it also had some issues with inline editing on some websites where if i left the textfield and came back it wouldnt take me to the end of the last word i wrote, Google Goggles wouldn't work properly, believe it or not the lack of TrackID (quite amazing that similar sw dont work as well as it does), and the random 'Force closures' i would get, there were days where it would be like dominos and app after app would go down, they arent major but were enough to get to me, the MAIN ones though were the Camera/camcoder, they began to drive me nuts, the fact that i knew how capable the Camera is made it all unbearable. Ive installed the Arc Home replacement for X10 and its flying, just feels so much more complete now

very true about Trip, you have to wait for the 100th release of his ROM as anything before has bugs and is just rushed, the comments in his threads say it all i guess.

Tsepz If it werent for the little Nikon I bought Id most probably switch back as well.My apps, widgets, themes, font changing ect is down to a minimal.Keeps the phone nice and speedy. Its bare with just what I need.
The battery drain for me came when I started installing apps and using widgets. Now instead of downloading an app foe example XDA,Engadget,BbcNews,CnetNews,I just bookmark the site in my Browser.Certain apps kill your battery.Engadget was a monster.
[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2011-03-04 05:18 ]

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Yeah those sort of apps i never touch, i once got the XDA app and deleted it a day later, i prefered the web browser,i can imagine Engadget was a hog, their website is unbelievably bloated even Opera Mini has issues with it.

it seems BB are feeling the pressure from WhatsApp: http://www.bgr.com/2011/03/03[....]ill-launch-on-android-and-ios/ cant wait, some of my friends have been on my case as to why i didnt get a BB and instead got the X10, cause the X10 doesnt have BBM revenge will be sweet when i have BBM, a brilliant Web browser, HD video, awesome apps and the best OS around all in one

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz I need your ohnest opinion. You've planted a seed in my mind now about going back to SE Eclair 2.1 because of the one word you used."Complete" (I know exactly what you mean )
Speed? I was just about to put on 2.1 again and then I thought, can I go without my phone been so ultra fast.I'm in two minds.
What does Quadrant Benchmark score that latest 2.1 on the X10?
I think I just want you to tell me if the slight lag is still there in 2.1? I dont think I could deal with that if I had to switch.
I dont get FC's on apps or reboots or battery drain.
I think once this camcorder gets up and running this FreeX10 will finally feel "Complete"
Maybe I should just wait till something major happens and just keep running FreeX10.

The latest update is faster than what we had before, it has tremendous lag in the beginning though when its setting everything up but after that is fast, Mediascape is also faster but does have its moments of jerkyness. What ive done is ive installed the XPERIA Arc Launcher for X10 (it comes in a .rar package) i didnt install the photo widget that comes in the package as that slowed my X10 down even when i was on Froyo.
If the Camera isnt a big deal and you dont realy miss the whole 'XPERIA look' then stick with FreeX10.

Why did 8ta decided to roam with MTN instead of Voda?

Posted by Hobbs
Wow Tsepz. What a nightmare.Thought Id get the baseband thing sorted out and put the latest SE firmware on my phone with PC Companion.Update was successful.Switched on phone.Boot up to animation.Reboot.Stuck in loop.Baseband issue with newest firmware.Had to download firmware and flash.Everything working cool but I don't know how long I can stand it.My phone seems to weigh more.lol Going to give it the weekend and if it freaks me out then I'll return to FreeX10.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
yeah takes a little getting used to, what helped me with the flashback to 2.1 was that i had already updated to latest 2.1 which has the new baseband and used 2.2 ROMs with that new baseband, so i just used xRecovery to do it, i never want to see Flashtool again.

I would highly recommend trying the Arc launcher: http://www.xperiax10.net/2011[....]auncher-now-available-for-x10/ my X10 hasnt had any slowdowns since the one it had at 1st boot after installing this ROM. I advise you avoid installing the Photo widget, it can bring your phone to a crawl.

Posted by Hobbs
Forgot how pretty everything is.Like the Phone book with the nice big contact photo on the top.Mediascape in landscape is pretty cool. Its just the side swipe that always gets to me.That slight delay.Freaks me out.Browser also seems slower but overall Its a nice change I have to admit. As you said with all its cons you do feel like you have a 'complete' system.
Also one finger zoom in Mediascape photos is pretty cool.Does the job just fine.

So Wangs, who's your money on for Sundays game against England?

Posted by Hobbs
tsepz one day with sony ericssons 2.1 and it had to go.
im so used to the speed of 2.2 that i had to switch back
to freex10 beta 4.something just didnt feel right.
the phone on se's 2.1 just couldnt keep up with the speed
of my mind like 2.2.it atrocious.very happy to be back with this rom.

Posted by amawanqa
Tough one that, Hobbster. I think the Proteas will win though. England's bowlers aren't impressing in this tournament so far..

Posted by Hobbs
shit just woke up and switched on the tv and half the
match is already gone.england bowled out for 171.
its looking good

Posted by amawanqa
Oh no...here we go again...

LOL Hobbster.

Yeah I'm going to get some stick at work tomorrow, LOL.

Posted by Hobbs
Still a long way to go Wangs.Who knows this could
be our year.

Posted by Gohan2
Anyone got browsing tricks i could use in this forum for any network

Posted by amawanqa
True Hobbster. I certainly hope so. It's been a long time comin'. Was just thinking, they could always change their name from the Proteas to another type of plant/flower, like, say for example, the Artichokes...

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Lol, Hobbs, as long as you're happy with your set up, the custom ROMs are great but they made me realise how i much required and like a working camera and camcoder and all the little SE tweaks and additions, stock Android just feels too empty, so i'll be waiting for that Arc port to completed, but if the devs can get both full 8MP and HD720p video in their camera software i'll jump on a custom ROM.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz ja lets hope they do eventually get the whole camera department working fully.it is such a waste having a phone
with great camera capabilities that you cant use.I read one of those phone magazines at cna and they had a 25 point test
featuring all the top smartphones and quess what...they never even had the X10 in the mix. They included the X8 and the X10 Mini
which against the big boys did a dismal job.
It was atrocious. The X10 range got creamed by the likes
of the iPhone 4,HTC,Samsung and Motorola range.N8 didnt do to well either.
HTC Desire suprisingly is still a force to be reckoned with.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
That realy sucks, but it does seem as though the X10 has been discontinued atleast i dont see it on the Elite Mobile site, and havent seen it on any of the latest network catalogues so maybe that's why they left it out? IMO, it easily out guns the Desire, but not the DesireHD.
