Hope everyone is having a great weekend, just arrived in hartees an hour ago, and it is ridiculously hot, 33 degrees last i checked.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz So thats how you were going to get the Desire HD.Maybe he will still find one.

Fantastic skyline shots Wangs. Not as sharp as the P1 though but it will do.You still going to do some fiddling Im sure so the pics will improve with time and experience.

Posted by Hobbs
Rhino not that it matters now anyway.(or it never mattered in the first place )

Yep, there is no way in hell we are going to buy it cash here, hopefuly he does, for now my lovely X10 will carry on serving me well, by the way do you ever wish you had taken the White X10? The more i see it in white the more i wish i had taken that, only problem is that white doesn't have the rubbery batt cover the black has.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz Its too damn expensive.I think its R6999 cash here (could be wrong) It does look good in White.Im not sure Vodacom had them in White though. They only tend to get one colour.

Tomorrows my birthday guys,so Im expecting lots of Virtual Birthday cakes 35 years on this planet. When oh when are they going to come fetch me.I so miss my Planet ZOG.

Posted by Hobbs
Glad to hear that Rhino. That keyboard sure looks sweet if you do a lot of typing on your phone.

Posted by Rhino8

Posted by SLYFOX

Posted by Hobbs

@ Hobbster:
Yeah there's no outright winner between the 2 cams. I do rate the P1's cam highly when it comes to macro shots. I took quite a few macro pics today with the 5800, and although they're mostly OK, I do agree that they're on average not as sharp as the P1i's. However, normal landscape and portrait pics seem to be less sensitive to blurring; it was area that you had to be careful with the P1i. Early days still with the 5800.

These 5800 macro pics were taken at this old bloke's house, who would you believe was the motoring correspondent for a KZN newspaper called the Natal Witness in the early '70's. Check the prices of the stuff in the newspapers he kept...and the 'prize' money in the first pic : Sigh, how things have changed, hey?:

New car, anyone?:

More pics:

Pretty cool.KFC R4,29 for a barrel/bucket.So if you won that competition all you would need is another 29cents and you could get the barrel/bucket on special.

Posted by Rhino8
you cant even have 1pc of kfc for that price anymore.

Happy Birthday Hobbs! Have a great one, easy on the bubby!

Posted by Hobbs
Thanks Wangs.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz Thats really dangerous. Its going to make your Xmas either really exciting or a major bummer Imagine when he gives you your present and it aint shaped like a box Can just see your face "Thanks Dad" (looking really pleased) and then turn around so he cant see your real face and mumble.... F#CK DiS SHiTE!

true, i asked and he wasn't able to find it, most stores either hadn't received stock yet or were out of, which sucks as its much less expensive there, its not the end of the world though, still have the X10,hopefuly the guys at Xda are nearly done cracking the bootloader so we can 2.2 and 2.3.

Posted by Hobbs
tsepz
cracking the bootloader??? have you checked the xda devs only cracking bootloader thread recently.its come to a standstill.nothing is happening there.at all.
hope they are still at it.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
they seemed to be making major headway a few months ago, i wonder what happened.
SE better give us both Froyo and Gingerbread for the sh!t they've put us through, even the Htc Magic is getting an official Froyo ROM.

On the bright side the new Facebook for Android app is out, and even features FB Chat!

While on the subject of Android thingies, the X10 Mini Pro has been reduced by a whopping £70 on PAYG here, now just £149.97 (approx R1650):

Posted by Hobbs
That phones going for relatively cheap here too Wangs. Its R1999 of I'm not mistaken.

Posted by amawanqa
Really good to hear that it's also very well-priced there, H.

Everyone done all the Christmas shopping? I've done the shopping fairly early this year to avoid the madness. Only need to get to the shops for the usual consumables now. Hopefully that can be minimised as well.

It's absolutely pelting down with snow at the moment... I've never seen snow like this before Christmas here. Perhaps it'll actually be my first ever White Christmas. Oh crap, now that old Bing Crosby song is going to be overplayed again...

In other news, fantastic to see Kallis score his maiden double century today!

Posted by amawanqa
HTC Wildfire now just £169.95 (approx R1800) on PAYG here :

Trying out the 5800's cam and sepia function:

Posted by Hobbs
Pretty much Wangs.Just gotta get two fish for my Grandfathers aquarium.
Wildfire for R1800!!!!!!!!! Fantastic price.
Kallis getting his double ton was fantastic.Cant believe the man has 11000+ runs and had never done it.Quite incredible. Also his new mop of hair on his head looks good.
Cool pic Wangs.

Tendulkar just gone past 14500 runs in Test cricket and has just scored his 50th century.Well done Little Master.

Posted by amawanqa
Yeah the Little Master is a true legend of the game. To think he debuted for his country at the age of 16.. amazing.

Nokia 5800 pics:

Sigh, only the warped minds at McFarlane could come up with Christmas figures like these:

It seems that salvation is nigh for N900 owners:

Indeed Wanqs, a shame they now have to depend on Google, as Nokia just isnt doing much for Maemo. Great ice and snow pic btw!

Tsepz Just updated mine now.Lost root.Do you have a XDA link for an updated root for the latest X10 update.
[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2010-12-26 19:08 ]

Posted by Tsepz_GP

Did everybodY know how to configure yf with freesite?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
LMFAO! Wanqa
That will shorten the journey to work considerably, would hate know how much it costs to fill her up though

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz Thanks.I saw that link.Thought maybe there was another method (that XDA X10 forum has become an eyesore. Its in such a mess imo.)
Can do without it for the time being.Typefresh and Barnicle will have to wait
Keyboard improvements on this update is most welcome though. Its almost perfect now.

Wangs I saw a bank statement once in one of my clients bins for the purchase of a helli and lets just say there was more zeros that I would have liked.Think I'll dream of one from Reggies.
[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2010-12-28 07:12 ]

Posted by amawanqa
LOL, I used to work at Reggies as a casual when I was in Std 9 and 10, then during the 4 years of studying after that.

My first pic on PaintPad on the Nokia 5800, very basic Rolf Harris-esque type silhoutte. The reflections aren't all right, etc, but we'll keep playing with it. Obviously nothing fancy or special, just trying it out:

Now that's what Im talking about Wangs.Beautiful.

Posted by amawanqa
Thanks boet, it's not the easiest to do super-fine detail and perfect lines on a screen that size.

So India strike back with the cricket...gotta get yourself to Newlands, Hobbster.

Posted by amawanqa
Would you believe that England have retained The Ashes today!

As the pics below will testify, methinks they should stick to cricket rather than trying any reality programmes like 'So You Think You Can Dance'....
Or maybe it's just a gay version of The Haka, I dunno...LOL:

It's actually the iconic 'Sprinkler Dance'.

I'd like to see their rendition of The Village People's YMCA song now, please..

So we boarded the Premier Classe train late afternoon yesterday, just for the record if you are expecting a Blue Train type trip then forget it you may be rather disappointed as we were but still enjoying the trip, we just left Beatfort West station an hour ago, should be in Cape Town in the next 5-6hours. Quite amazing how great cell reception can be out here, its actualy annoying as im getting EDGE speeds that are almost as good as HSDPA speeds at home .

Hope you're all enjoying the last day of 2010! Woza 2011!
