Yes, the video above is of a custom rom. Bootloader still not cracked though, but things are looking promising.

Have you seen the X12 yet : http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_[....]the_anzu_spotted-news-2066.php

@Rob Another XDA frenzy thread lol

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanks for those links to Root Optimizer by the way Rob.
Im considering trying it out, but not sure if i'll be okay with losing the built-in Home launcher, very tempting though.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Definetly not doing it! I use the Gmail app due to the excellent push email, use Mediascape for music and pics, i use TrackID a lot etc... overall its going to ruin my phone for me, i no longer like ADW Launcher, hate K-9 Mail and not a fan of Vignette lol, wish they could have just left the X10 the way it was and just added JIT on its own.

Tsepz My emails arent been pushed to my Gmail account on my X10 ever since updating to 2.1.K-9 pushing through email just fine.Any suggestions?

Posted by Rob123
Guys, guys...... no need to do any of the other stuff besides install JIT. I have never run the other scripts that they have inserted into the batch files.

Just run the JIT installer - there is even a install/remove script if you want to get rid of it afterwards (or just switch it off for a while). I recommend following only Jerpelea's V002 script - the other ones do all sorts of things that you can do yourself with Titanium for example.

I find that I need to do the "DeviceID into text file" bit manually sometimes as the script doesn't always work - if you find the same just delete that bit from the batch file and do it yourself. Shout if you want more detailed info (there are plenty of loooong threads now with multiple versions that do different things..... getting more confusing instead of easier)

I have just reflashed to Nordic and rerooted with SuperOneClick and added JIT again as my LED stopped working under 2.1 for some reason. Not sure when it stopped but I hope it is sorted out now.

I am looking forward to trying a custom ROM in a few weeks time...... till then 2.1 with JIT will be just fine! (just got 735 in Quadrant, up from 430 without JIT).

Go play......

Go to Settings- Accounts & Sync- Turn on Auto Sync and enable your @gmail account sync, it seems to be off by default.
Rob
Thanks a million! Didnt realise it was a bunch of scripts lol, going to do it NOW!

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Rob
I keep getting Permission Denied when i run the script, how on earth do i set Heap size to 32mb disable kernel loging?

Posted by Hobbs
Rob JIT v3 I'll wait and about the custom ROM,I'm with you on that one.Excited!
[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2010-11-12 07:39 ]

Posted by Rob123
It's all in the build.prop file that gets copied across:

debug.sf.hw=1
dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
kernel.log=default

What method are you using exactly and where are you seeing the message?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Rob
Its when i run the JIT v2 installer, i think i know why i got that though, its due to me not having completely gone over the Read Me, i needed to run the RunMeWindows.bat ,so will try again later when im on the pc.
Just saw the topic on the Custom ROM: http://is.gd/gXTcT exciting times ahead for us.

Posted by Rob123
Okay, let me know how it goes.

My reflash to get my LED working was in vain. Seems to have been my "Settings Profile" app that behaves differently under 2.1..... oh well, didn't take long to flash though. At least i know what the cause is.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Will do indeed.
Great you found the cause, your X10 must be getting sick of being flashed over and over again, im sticking to Nordic for now until the next update, then i think i may switch to Global, but thats if the custom ROM isnt out yet, as when its out il be saying good-bye to SE's slow updates.

Posted by Hobbs
@Tsepz.
Good luck getting that JIT thingymegingy working. They say v3 is around the corner so it just seems useless to me doing v2.
@ROB
Glad you found the root to your problem. You sure do flash the F out of your handset lol

Posted by Rob123
Version 3 has been cancelled due to the new ROM on its way. Not sure how long that would take though, so V2 will have to do for now.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
I have temporarily given up, as always with these things i will eventualy figure out what im missing/doing wrong, just like the flashing. i always have a unique problem.

Hello all the people, new and old and very old
@Tsepz Hey bud, CONGRATS with the N8 I hold tumbs for you for the next 2weeks. If someone earns to keep it - you do.

Posted by Hobbs
Mario.
Hey bud.Long time no hear.Hope you doing well. Its been a while. What have you been up to all this time?

Wangs
Now that the Misses has had the X10 Mini for a couple of weeks, what is her verdict on the handset?
Ive read reviews on this phone and the majority of them on their conclusion is always mainly positive.
Is this the case with her?
If your Misses gives the thumbs up I think I'll convince my boss to get the Mini for her upgrade since she wants a SE phone and the only other phone that looks like a possibility is the Aino but thats punted as a media phone and is maybe to big coming from the beautiful tiny T650i.
In call quality and ringer quality? I think the most important since she's just a speaking on the phone kind of person.

Enjoy the rugby guys.I aint worried about the Welsh. We have their number.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Mario
LOL! Thanks, how did you find out? Im looking forward to reviewing it, going to go into as much detail as i can.
All
Just to fill everyone in, i'm one of the winners in the N8ReviewZA, so they'll be giving me a Nokia N8 to review, if the review wins, i'll get to keep the phone.

Tsepz
Absolutely fantastic. You've got this one in the bag.You are the proud new owner of a Nokia N8 I say lol
I've just been reading some of the threads you've been participating in and you seem to have gained a wealth of knowledge in everything mobile.
Head to heads.Very entertaining indeed.lol
AllAboutSymbian Hate that website for some unknown reason.Always take a peek to keep up to date with the world of Symbian and always make a quick exit.Dinosaurs doing the writing on that site.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanks Hobbs, yeah ive got myself into some rather interesting arguements here, which ever way they go i always learn something, its how got in to smartphones in the 1st place.
Couldn't agree more about AllAboutSymbian, they are in such deep love with Symbian it shows in every blog they do, Steve Litchfield especialy, he simply cant accept any negativity about his fav platform. I also just take a peak, but have to take in a bucket full of salt when reading their blogs.

That rugby was intense.Well done Bokke.Bring on Scotland!

Posted by amawanqa
Ya Hobbster, the rugby was a closer call than I think many anticipated. Did you see the England-Oz score?!

As regards the X10 Mini, yeah it's not missed a beat. No crashes, freezing, lag etc although she's a very light user. She's had no need to reboot it at any point over the past few weeks of ownership. She's now accustomed to its diminutive dimensions and is really happy with it. I still haven't updated Android on it though. Something I still need to get round to doing. Ringer volume is fine too. It is set on its loudest, and to me it's loud enough.

Yoh! Congrats on that N8, Tsepz!!

Posted by Hobbs
Well done England 35-18.A pretty convincing win.Thats the one Im worried about Wangs. The way they played against the All Blacks in the first match I knew they were going to be a problem. After a truly disastrous Tri-Nations it would be fantastic for a Springbok Grand Slam and England is the big one and with the way they have dealt with Australians it is going to be a humdinger.

Thanks for the X10 Mini feedback.Much appreciated.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
The rugby was a major nail biter, Boks performance was poor despite them winning.
Pirates lost 3 freaking 1 to Chiefs, they played like a bunch of girls, even scoring an own goal, oh the shame

Thanks Wanqs i will be taking as many pics as i can, one of my friends has been at flight school for just over a year now,im considering going up with him in the next two weeks and get some aerial shots with the N8, maybe even a HD video or two, realy want to put that camera through its paces.

Posted by Hobbs
Removing system apps on the X10 like Moxier,OfficeSuite and Quadrapop using Titanium Backup. Are there going to be problems when flashing a new ROM on the phone if you've done this or when updating software? Im going to get rid of more stuff on Jerpeleas list (not Timescape and Mediascape though) but was wondering if I should continue if I dont really know the consequences.

Wow, what a finish to the F1 season.
Congrats to Vettel. Deutschland uber Alles and all that. Red Bull deserved the accolades for this year. Alonso throwing his toys out the cot at Petrov was really childish. Wally.

Posted by silpher
ok. so i felt like posting this here (feel free to comment or even critisize.)

apparently, the final plan to eradicate all other religions and "unite" the world by controlling us ordinary people is through the use of what many people call
U.F.O's. yes that's correct. U.F.O's people. only they would've been designed here on earth and used in another "false flag operation" (

Dr Frasier Crane here. How can I help you? lol

Cool pics Wangs.I can see why you still hanging on to your P1.That thing takes brilliant pics, especially of the Sepia kind.Love it.

Posted by amawanqa
Thanks H. Ya I just can't let it go yet, or feel the urgent need to upgrade it. It's getting on a bit now, being over 3 years with me and still delivering.
I was thinking of the N900 but that OS looks like a seriously dead end of sorts.. Meego wherefore art thou? LOL.

Posted by Hobbs
Wangs lol Only jokes Dont know much about Meego. Will do some homework before I make any judgements.

i heard something like that when talking about the whole conspiracy of The Illuminati with some classmates a while ago, the way i see it now, rather not bother myself with such things, what happens, happens.
Wanqs
Great pics, would love to take those old Willies Jeeps i think they were called? Bundu bashing leave the posers in their Q7s to eat my dust.

No problems at all - DELETE away.....!

Rather FREEZE them for a few days to see if your phone works without them then uninstall later when you are sure.

Do you guys use Tasker much? I rate it as the best app for Android by far - I am even running out of ideas on how to use it. One of my profiles is to record all calls automatically to sdcard in case I ever need to refer back to them in the future. Also for those times when you need to play back some call to a service provider when they go back on their word and need to be shown "proof" that they are talking BS.....

Just need to try to duplicate all functionality of "Setting Profiles" in Tasker, then I can get rid of that one too....

Will give Tasker a try.

Just saw a N8 advert on TV.It looks very cool but for some reason Ive just gone totally off Nokia. The look of the phone, the UI,everthing just rubs me up the wrong way.

Posted by Hobbs
Two Springbok players (Chilliboy and Basson) sent home from tour after failed dope test.Stupid idiots.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Rob
I read about it at Mobile-Review, it sounds like an excellent app, you can set it to boot up certain apps at certain intervals and perform what they need to do for a certain period etc... Havent tried yet, i dont think its made for people like me though lol, atleast not until im back in lectures in feb next year when everyday is the same thing.
Hobbs
Yeah, i feel the same, a part of me is like "Yawn" when i see it, nothing exciting, same ol' boring Nokia, as happy as i am to get one everytime i touch my 5800 i hope wont be that put off when the N8 arrives, hopefuly tomorrow.

Posted by Hobbs
Just enjoy the experience with the N8 Tsepz and go for the win.Its a free Nokia flagship and if you dont fall in love with it ,sell it and get yourself the latest and greatest Android device. It a win-win if you win lol

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thats true Hobbs, by the way its 8 people who get to keep it, so hopefuly i'll be one of them. I will keep it if one of the lucky ones, i want to see those major upgrades coming to S^3, so in 3-4months time it maybe a whole new phone, you know how Nokia are, it should be worth the wait, that's the one thing that will keep me a interested in Nokias, updates guaranteed for 2years, i read a rumour that there's apparently another 5800 FW in the works, the thing is already 2years and still getting some update love lol.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Its here!! Arrived nice and early this morning at around 9:30am. Lol, it was quite exciting opening the box, wondering what colour i got, i was thinking Silver or Black, imagine the suprise when i saw this:

I hate green, but this looks FREAKIN AWESOME! Its lime green with a metalic finish, very nice.
In the box there is a lot of goodies: Car Charger, USB-OTG adapter, HDMI adapter, in-ear headphones, AC charger and the other usual stuff:

So far i like it, Symbian^3 has some nice very Android-ish tweaks, it still needs a lot of work though, specificaly that awfuly outdated web browser which can be very unbearable if you're coming from Android/iOS.
It has tons of potential though, i really like it, a lot more than the 5800, but i still feel better on the droid.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz Woooohoooo! I like it in green.Looks cool.Enjoy it bud.Keep us posted.

OVI Store on the phone. How does it compare to Market (not the variety and whats on offer) but the user friendliness and ease of installing stuff.I love Market.

How does this review work Tsepz? I take it after 2 weeks you write a review and send it off and then wait for announcement.Who is the review for? Please dont say Nokia themselves because everyone will just end up writing 'sucking ass' reviews.lol

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanks Hobbs! Im busy downloading Ovi Store now, for some strange reason Nokia havent preinstalled it in any N8s.
the review is indeed for Nokia, ive figured out how i will do the review. Going to begin writing this weekend, already taken pics and everything, just gota mess around now. Its good to be on holiday or this would be realy bitter sweet.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Ovi Store is great very smooth, not so clunky anymore, the Android Market is more polished. Great thing is that with Ovi Store you can buy apps with your airtime, none of that credit card/paypal rubbish, prices are very decent to. R25 for Angry Birds (its free on Android) but its paid app on all other platforms. Overall the Ovi Store has come a long way, Google better hurry up with the support for operator billing, Ovi Store is not very far off being a major rival, its still a bit buggy as i said, not as polishd as Market.
