First real Symbian^4 shots are here, we hold our excitement

http://www.gsmarena.com/first[....]d_our_excitement-news-1818.php

Looking good in its early stages.A bit more with the times.

Think I'll do that Hobbs.
Hobbs and Rob
Have you tried downloading from 4shared? Find any paid app in the Market, then just search for it at 4shared, that's how i got the full version of YXPlayer, it gives the register screen, but no more Google ads, and can watch a full video. By the way when searching for the apps make sure you put .apk at the end as that's the format Android apps are in.

Posted by Hobbs
Thanks for the heads up Tsepz. Will check it out since Robs site has mysteriously died.

Posted by Hobbs
Love this background wallpaper.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Lol, i see you also using ADW Launcher there Hobbs, excellent app, i only have one homescreen, I must the only Android user who doesn't like multiple homescreens.
Is it just me who has beef with the Camera button? It's so dam small and requires a hard push to actually take a picture, otherwise picture quality is great.

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz
ADW comes pre-installed after you update and root.I usually use Helix but ADW does the same job really.Only have 3 Homescreens. To my left is WEB,Facebook,Mxit,Tweetcaster,Operamini,GMAIL and Email and on my right is Settings shortcuts,Wifi on/off widget,File Manager and Advanced Task Killer
Im OK with the size of the camera key and tension.Have no problems with it.

Hey WANGS.Hows life buddy?

Posted by Rob123
Ipmart-forum will have to replace Mobilism until it comes back up again (if ever....). I managed to get all the apps off Mobilism that I needed before it went under, so if you guys need anything in particular that you can't find let me know and I can pass it along.
Copilot 8 works well on X10 with full maps by the way

Changing fonts on the X10 using Typefresh work fine.I just didnt read the instructions properly the first time round.Only need to make changes with your new font to DroidSans in TypeFresh (I changed the whole lot) thats why my phone f@cked out.
Fantastic!

Forgot about ol' Ipmart. Thanks Rob for reminding me.

Hey Hobbster.
Ya I've been very scarce over the past 2 weeks or so. School closes for the Summer holidays this Friday and I've been working silly hours to get everything done in time. Haven't even been emailing that much either. Thank God there's over 5 weeks to recover starting on Friday night, LOL. Nearly there...
In Cape Town on 9th August until the 18th, then off to EL for the remainder of the time until we fly back to the UK at the end of August. Can't wait!

@ tsepz and gola:
Dang, these kids in my class have been KILLING the song 'I Can Transform Ya' by Chris Brown feat Li'l Wayne & Swiss Beatz today. Very catchy. Tooo fresh, LOL.

Hey wanqs!

Good to see you're still around. Tell me, you had a problem with your P1i's scroll wheel some time back, what exactly was your problem? I'm asking this cause I am suffering from a very irritating problem with mine, the darn thing is scrolling erratically and I don't know how to fix it. Have you experienced anything like it and how did you fix it if you had gone through this?

Thanks.

Next to my K850

Next to a iPhone3GS:

Busy using it as a modem at the moment with PDANet, love the fact that it charges when used as a modem with the 5800 i had to carry my charger everywhere if i wanted to tether.
LOL! Hobbs,nice one
LMAO! Wanqs yep its a fresh track enjoy the trip to the Motherland!
Brad
Welcome back , you still got that 6120c? Get an Android with a Snapdragon or equivalent CPU in it, so Desire, X10, Samsung Galaxy-S, Motorola Milestone etc...are good.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Nice one Gola, number 11 in top Esato pics: http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/index.php?toplist=yes

Posted by zani_003
@ tsepz, is der a way around da 120mb for installing apps on the desire? Coz its quite a good phone except 4 dat limitation. Hmmm i stil h8 samsung and motorola lol. Its down to the X10 or desire. I stil have da 6120c, its been very loyal lol will keep it though

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Brad
Not quite sure, i'd suggest checking out MyBroadBand: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdisplay.php/197-Android theres quite a strong Desire user presence there i was also trying to make a decision between Desire and X10 as well as N8 but after much thought i dropped the idea of N8 and Symbian all together, and picked the X10 over Desire due to the Camera, battery, design, display , and UX UI.

Posted by amawanqa
@ Dups!:

My P1i's scroll wheel came out of its support/housing completely, making it roll/spin around and lie flush with the rest of the casing and thus rendering it useless. (I honestly don't know how that happened in the first place, as I didn't drop it and wasn't ham-fisted with the scroll wheel either). Weird...

I can't say that I've had a similar issue with the scroll wheel misbehaving like that though..

@ Tsepz:
Nice comparative shots there. Love the screen real estate on the X10.

@ Hobbster:
Die kinders in my klas het ook hierdie website vir my gewys vir musiek :

Welcome back Brad. I'd recommend the X10 or the
HTC Desire. You cant go wrong with either of those
two.

Wangs
Working like a dog you are.At least the Mother City
awaits you and then you can lie back and put your feet
up.
Dont know any Everton fans here Im afraid.

Tsepz
Where did you get your PDANet from. The free version
doesnt allow you access to https sites. Not a trainsmash
though because I use the E90 when I need https access.
I use EasyTether to tether.Same problem with the free
version though.

Posted by Dups!
@wanqs

Thanks. I will have to search some more for the solution.

That is an ugly strip for Everton!! I am an Arsenal fan over here and have really liked what they tended to do with their red and white strip, still trying to get used to their other shirt though.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanks Wanqs, going back to any other phone including the iPhone is weird after having that 4inch in your face. LMAO,unlucky Everton,i can only imagine the types of jokes that will be invented due to that uniform.
Hobbs
I got it from 4shared.

Posted by Dups!
@Tsepz

I have to say that the X10 makes the Iphone look old with that stunning design. That is a thing of beauty!

Thanks 4 the info ya'll. Looks like i'll go 4 the desire, with froyo its possible to install apps on sd, or i can just root the phone. I feel da X10 is too big, i'm not really interested in da camera and video function lol. Now i must look for a decent contract, R340 on Mtn is the most affordable i've seen so far

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanks Dups, if its one thing SE have always done well its to create stunning devices, the Yari and Vivaz are exceptions lol but even they arent so bad.
Brad
lol, yep, X10 is quite a big device, takes a while to get used to,im actualy wondering how do people with the HD2s and other 4.3inch monsters survive,i think my limit in phone size has been reached
Im sure you'll be happy with the Desire, its got so much developer support and i see our ex SAMD memeber francoislr is loving his Desire over at Mybroadband lol.

Looks like Apple's 'Antennagate' saga with the iPhone 4 has had no huge impact as such, judging by this report from GSMArena :

'Apple has record breaking quarter, iPhone and Mac sales up
21 July, 2010

The iPhone 4's controversial antenna may experience drops in signal, but there's no dropping when it comes to Apple's financial results. They exceeded even Apple's own expectations leading them to break all sorts of records.

In the third fiscal quarter of 2010 (which ends on June 26), Apple's revenue is 15.7 billion US dollars and the net profit is 3.25 billion dollars. Just an year ago those figures were 9.73 billion dollars revenue and 1.83 billion dollars net profit.

The record income comes from record sales - 8.4 million iPhones were sold during the quarter (an astonishing 61% growth compared to last year's third quarter) and the Mac lineup of computers sold 33% more units as well. The iPads reached 3.27 million units sold.

About 52% of the revenue is due to international sales. It seems the only things that have fallen down are the iPod sales, which took an 8% dip (not really unexpected), and the gross margin which fell to 39.1% (down from 40.9%).

All eyes are on the fourth quarter now - and Apple has some bright plans for it. They are predicting a revenue of 18 billion US dollars for Q4. Considering they over-fulfilled their expectations for this quarter, they'll probably reach that goal and maybe even go further.'

Quite like the Retro Camera app.Havent done enough experimenting with it but heres two snaps I took this morning at work.

Posted by amawanqa
Hey Hobbster, those pics are pretty keewl. Love the retro cam look and that B&W doggy one is particularly impressive, boet.

Posted by Hobbs
Thanks Wangs.Theres alot more experimenting to do with this app. They give you a choice of 4 different cameras to use,The Barbl,Little Orange Box,Xolaroid 2000 and Pinhole Camera. Each camera has different uses and specs. Its quite cool.

Rob and Tsepz
I always liked the Widget clock/time that you find on the HTC phones.Found a nice Widget called Beautiful Widgets that gives you a pack containing Beautiful Bluetooth,Brightness,GPS,Home (which is the clock and weather one),Silent,Smaller Home,Vibrate and Wi-fi.I might use the Wifi one but its the Home one that I wanted.
Also you can download skins within the widget app of the Home clock and weather widget.
If you click on the time it opens up Alarm Clock, click on Date and it sends you to Calendar and if you click on the weather still like the moon, sun ect,it takes you to a 3 day forecast page.

Also down to one homescreen Tsepz.Thats all you need.
